For Autumn Hickman, online dating has been an exercise in nothing more than coffee and failure. There simply isn’t a man on the planet who can compare to her best friend, Trey Wattson. And while Trey is everything Autumn has ever wanted in a partner, she knows the man who loves life’s most beautiful things could never cherish anything as scarred and mangled as her. Trey Wattson is in love with … is in love with his best friend, but he can’t seem to reach her. She’s guarded, and for good reason, but Trey doesn’t care. He knows Autumn’s soul, and it’s the most beautiful thing he’s ever seen. Desperate to claim Autumn’s heart for his own, Trey conspires with The Wolves to create a fake profile on the dating site Autumn frequents. But the more Autumn trusts Trey’s online persona, the more it becomes clear that Trey is gambling with the very thing he wants most of all.
Return to Tess Thompson’s beloved Cliffside Bay and discover for yourself why true love is built on honesty and trust, and why best friends often make the very best life partners, in this anonymous online romance set in your favorite charming small town.

Wow love this book. Love how tess creates these events. They are meant to be together from what i read in earlier books. The way trey was able to talk to her is wrong but it worked the way he wanted it to.
BOOK REVIEW: Scarred by author, Tess Thompson – Cliffside Bay Book 8
Once upon a time, an author by the name of Tess Thompson decided to write a Series by the name of Cliffside Bay.
Am I glad she did! I have been addicted to these characters, their lives, their challenges and their loves, since the very beginning.
Scarred will have you hooked by its very first page, full of the heartwarming, tragic, but important journey of Trey and Autumn as they find their friendship flourishing and later leading to more than what they ever thought possible while each healing from their own scars, losses and dreams dashed.
Tight-knit friendships, the serene setting of Cliffside Bay, it’s charm and it’s supportive circle will have you wrapped up in all that is possible, true and hopeful especially for the two people who need it the most- which for them, can only come from true love, their love for one another.
Scarred is a meaningful and purposeful journey through the very core of ones sadness, fears and healing, while trying to make it through to the other side with a little thing called faith- which leads the heart to happiness.
I thank author, Tess Thompson for my ARC copy of Scarred and in bringing to me a story I truly enjoyed.

Not your typical friends to lovers story. Both having been scarred in different ways, this is a slow burn leading to an emotional and touching ending. Mix in a little mystery and it’s got it all, except any heat between the two.
Great story about overcoming doubts and concerns. Great twist and even greater ending.
I’ve read all of the Cliffside Bay books, and have rated each one as an Excellent read. This one though, there’s just something about Trey and Autumn’s story that causes me to say that this is the Best of this series (so far)! Everyone is scarred by life by the time we grow up, and some scars are more visible than others. The question for Trey and Autumn is whether they will let their scars define and limit their relationships in life. Adding to that delemma one of them lets friends encourage a very questionable way of helping them both get beyond their fears of intimacy and allow themselves to admit and embrace the love they feel for each other.
There is more to this story than whether Trey and Autumn will open themselves to their love for each other. Each also has a personal history that requires forgiveness and acceptance for painful experiences in their pasts. How they, with the help of their friends, overcome the pain of these is also an important and touching part of their great story.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. Reading it gave me great pleasure, and I can say that I wholeheartedly recommend it as a touching and enjoyable read.
Tess Thompson made another home run novel. Scarred is part of the Cliffside Bay series. The characters in her books bring out every kind of emotion. Scarred is a beautiful story about two people who just can’t get out of their own way. Fears and assumptions overshadow reality. If you want a book that with take you away and bring the characters alive you must read Scarred.
Every time I finish “hanging out” with my Cliffside friends, I’m convinced that it was the best time! That the story I just read had the dreamiest hero and strongest heroine… and then I read the next and discover I am wrong, again!
I have loved Autumn since she was first introduced with Stone. I was so happy to know she was finally getting her story. It was everything I wanted and more! And Trey… sigh! They don’t make them like him!!
THIS BOOK…… this is definitely my favourite of the books in this series that I’ve read so far… Tess Thompson really knows how to write emotions.
Manoman, I LOVED Trey & Autumn.
In previous books you could see the connection and friendship this couple had but there was always the possibility that that’s all they’d be… until Trey decided he had to do something about how he actually felt about his best girl-friend when she set her mind to online dating and finding someone who would be able to look past her scars.
Trey has always seen Autumn as more than her past, her accident and the damage that did to her, both physically and mentally. After a hellish marriage and divorce he was always very vocal about never getting married again and he was set on that until he got to know his girl, that was the game changer for him.
Autumn took what Trey said to heart and never considered they would be more than they were, regardless of how she felt about him. Due to her injuries and how she viewed herself because of them, along with some bad reactions from the few men she had been involved with, Autumn was very hesitant about starting relationships and that’s what lead her to trying online dating..
Now, I have to say, I’m kinda split in my feeling about what Trey and the Wolves came up with and put into play – you’ll understand when you read the book.
I loved that we had the Wolves, Dogs and Wags involved as always and the storyline that started earlier in the series with Autumns mom continued in Scarred
This was another great trip to Cliffside Bay and I can’t wait to go back to see who’s gonna fall next.
This is a definite 5* read.
Another outta-the-park story from Tess Thompson! Every time I open a Cliffside Bay book, it’s like stopping by to visit with an old friend. As always, Ms Thompson’s writing is smooth, the dialogue reads like a dream, and the characters well developed.
The story of Trey & Autumn was a little different than many in this series-you have to read quite a bit of the book for their relationship to go to the next level. It was a nice change, a little more how real life is! The ending has a great dramatic twist that will leave you on the edge of your seat.
If you haven’t started this series, what are you waiting for??
Never judge a book by its cover but Tess Thompson’s contemporary romance novels are as beautifully written on the inside as they look on the outside! Trey and Autumn are both broken, Trey’s scars are just less obvious but love tends to find a way of healing from within. The characters of Cliffside Bay are such a fun group to revisit and I never tire of making the trip!
I’m always excited to see a new installment of this author’s Cliffside Bay series. Ms. Thompson has created a book universe that always makes me feel like I am visiting old friends. She does an excellent job of letting each couple shine while keeping threads of the other characters and does so in such a way that it feels natural. Scarred is Autumn and Trey’s story. I love the way the title has several meanings (i.e. both physical and emotional scars) that the characters carry. I thought that the plan cooked up by the Wolves was a typical boneheaded man decision, but I did like how it gave the characters a chance to open up to each other in a unique way. I always root for these characters, and I can’t wait to see who is up next! This review was written based on a complimentary, pre-release digital ARC of the book.
LOVED IT!! Definitely a 5 STAR book! Scarred is the 8th book in the Cliffside Bay Series by Tess Thompson. Such a heartwarming love story between Trey and Autumn. Tess captures my attention from the first page through to the last page. I fell in love with these 2 characters, along with all the other ones in the 7 previous books. Without giving away too much, Trey and his friends came up with a “typical male” plan to win Autumn over. The story line is so realistic! This novel was absolutely wonderful. The only downfall was the book came to an end. I can’t wait until the next books comes out. Thank you, Tess!!
Scarred: Trey and Autumn by Tess Thompson is the 8th book in the Cliffside Bay Series and as usual each book is better than the last. I love getting lost in the books of Cliffside Bay and Scared didn’t disappoint. This is Trey and Autumn’s story and Trey has fallen in love with Autumn and is having a hard time letting her know. You will follow their story through good times and scary times to a happy ending.
I received an advance copy for my honest review.
I loved this book. I really enjoyed reading it. Romance, friendship, love and a wonderful group of people to help. The characters for the most part are amazing as is Ms. Thompson’s writing. I can picture this town and the people.
As always Tess Thompson has a hit with this new book in the Cliffside Bay series. It always amazes me how she describes the people and scenes in such a way I feel like I’m right there in person. Each book in this series deals with different life challenges each of the characters has. I highly recommend starting at the beginning if possible. If not these are each stand alone books and can be enjoyed individually.
I absolutely loved this book in the Cliffside Bay series and must say each one gets better and better! How can that even be possible when the first book had me hooked! Tess Thompson shines in this amazing love story of Autumn and Trey!! The scars left both physically and mentally in their pasts links them into a beautiful friendship that turns into the most beautiful and touching love story! This book had me in tears with its heartfelt raw emotion! I loved seeing all of my favorite characters entwined in this beautiful book. I can’t wait to read what’s next in Cliffside Bay! A must read amazing book! Loved every page and read this in a sitting !
Cliffside Bay Series, Book 8
Scarred: Trey and Autumn
This is a book about best friends. Trey is in love with Autumn and wants more but Autumn won’t let herself love Trey at the next level because of her mangled body. She thinks she will loose him forever if he sees her deepest scars.
Autumn is presently on line dating with nothing but a lot of toads, she has hopes to find her prince. She wants someone to see her, truly love her ugly body and her soul.
Trey schemes with the guys (the wolves) and they write the perfect fake profile for Trey. As Autumn accepts his friend request and they get to know each other will he become her prince? Or will he be another toad?
I wasn’t fond of the deception with the fake profile but I could not stop reading the book. Relationships are built on honesty. How can they have a true relationship with this deception?
The characters from the previous books stop by in this book, again I am lost in the story and I am part of the gang of Cliffside Bay.
Do best friends make the best marriage? Can Autumn accept the deception? All of these questions and more will be explored. You will think about your own experiences and will have many emotions as you read.
I encourage you to read this book and become one with the characters of Cliffside Bay and find out if Autumn found her prince or will he be discarded as a toad?
I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Wow! This book rocked me to the core! We ALL have scars! We all criticize ourselves too much and feel “un-loveable”. Trey’s love for Autumn is selfless, unconditional and truly beautiful! Tess wove the characters of Cliffside Bay into this story so magically, and gives just enough insight to want to read more. This rag tag group of Cliffside Bay have such a unique bond that is so realistic, and born from their hurts, hangups and most of all, their “scars”! It is another must read!!
This is a seriously addictive series! If you haven’t read this author before, you are in for a ride! The visual description of the town of Cliffside Bay as well as the homes, and characters are ‘spot on ‘.They make you want to live there! The book is written with so much emotion! The author has the uncanny ability to write the words that every woman wants to hear. This series is too good to pass up!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. However, these thoughts are expressly my own!
Autumn and Trey are a great addition to the Cliffside Bay series.
Autumn has had a string of bad luck with men. Online dating has her meeting all the wrong guys until one catches her interest online.
Trey has it bad for the one woman who happens to be his best friend. When he hears of her dates, the Wolves come up with a plan to help her find the right guy online…who may be right in front of her face.
These two are a great couple. Friends to lovers is a favorite of mine and this hit the spot. I look forward to more in this series.
