I’ve been in love with the same woman for years. Watching her from afar, I’ve yearned to be a part of her life. But I’m not, I can’t be. I have nothing to offer the innocent…until suddenly, I do. One night, a tempest of bloodshed and death leads her to my door begging for my help, which I give. If only she knew the biggest threat, the scariest monster, was the one she just locked herself inside … she just locked herself inside with.
Others might hunt her, but Scarlett has been my prey for years. It’s time I claimed what is mine.
After all, isn’t obsession just another form of love?
I’ve been in love with the same man for as long as I can remember, aching for him, wishing he would notice me.
But then he does, and what follows is a tale of shared pain, need, and hope.
One night seals my fate, and he becomes both my saviour and my captor.
If only he knew I’m not the innocent little girl he thinks I am.
He might be dangerous, but I’m no weakling. Now, I have him and I won’t let him go.

This slow burn romance keeps you on the edge of your seat. The characters have great depth and grow throughout the novel.
Scarlett and Max. Neighbors. Obsessions. Lovers. Max is convinced that he is a monster and he’s stalking an angel next door. He knows that he doesn’t deserve her but that doesn’t stop him from wanting her. Scarlett suspects that her neighbor is dangerous but that doesn’t keep her away. She sees the good man inside. When the time comes that they can no longer deny what they want, it’s an explosive love affair. But can it last? Two broken souls, deep pain, secrets, and danger threaten their ever after.
I have always enjoyed Katie’s writing but this is my favorite book of hers by far. It caught me off-guard with the way it consumed me. I became an obsessed reader. I connected to the characters every emotion, every action. I thrilled with them over their happy moments and suffered when it all went dark. I feared for their safety, physically and emotionally. I fumed and feared. There’s nothing pretty about Scarlett and Max’s romance but it’s one of the most beautiful love stories I’ve read. “Pain calls to pain”. It’s twisted, passionate, and all-consuming. Scarlett brings lightness into his life. She gives him a reason. She gives him unconditional acceptance. He brings her safety. He values her for more than her looks. He spoils her when no one has even met her basic needs before. They both wrap each other in love. I adore every single aspect of these characters, their assets, and their flaws. His grumpiness, her sunny disposition, their intelligence, and need. Yes, they each were broken with jagged edges, but they fit together perfectly. Scarlett was strong, creative, determined, and surprisingly naughty. Max was damaged, dark, so unforgiving and hard on himself but he was also so generous, protective, thoughtful, and willing to do anything for Scarlett’s happiness. Their stories individually were heartbreaking; together they were glorious.
Holly Amazeballs what a book!!! This book is an emotional roller-coaster of epic proportions. I laughed I cried and I cringed in horror. There might be a couple of tough scenes, but the resolution was so worth it. This is one of the bestest romances ever, and I am talking wonderfully mutual obsessive overconsuming love kind a way. The one we all dream about.
The author has outdone herself and I am seriously having problems finding words to express how much I love this book. I mean, her writing is brilliant, her idea is beautiful and the plot is masterfully executed, the world is well build and the characters are oh so amazing, hot and lovable. And just when you think, oh look she went mainstream romance, no she didn’t. The author put her own wonderful dark and twisted spin on the romance and it couldn’t be more beautiful.
Both of the characters are broken, each one in their own way, so there are some unpleasant moments, past and present, but they are strong and they push through, sometimes alone and sometimes together. But what is most interesting here is how they make each other grow and heal, and how they slowly make the bed past go away for one another. There will be some plain stalkerish moments, but don’t worry, all stalking here is welcomed and encouraged. And their chemistry is off the charts, smoking, steaming hot.
I am not going to mention bad guys here, there are many, but three characters apart from Scarlett and Max that I completely adored. Milo, I need Milo in my life and the why becomes obvious after just a few pages of the book. Nadia is the bestest friend any girl could wish for, that friend who gives you unconditional love and support without judgement or criticism. And then there is Keanu, the guy of my dreams, a hacker, computer whiz. Yes, that’s my thing. Keanu is perfect and I would love to read his story.
I never really liked or read contemporary romance before, and I have only read a few in the past few years but thanks to this author and a couple of my other favourites, I am now very much looking forward to reading more, and especially after this book I could happily continue reading contemporary romance, and so much more if written by this author. I love her so much, her work is most amazing bestest and I can’t wait to read whatever she writes next.
This was a great dark and obsessive sci-fi romance! Max and Scarlett have been in love with each other for years. During a night of bloodshed, she comes to him for shelter, but he also becomes her captor as well. Can two tortured and broken souls find their ever after?
I loved Scarlett’s personality- she’s fierce, creative, and not so innocent. Max is a huge teddy bear on the inside, but he is protective and possessive of her and always puts her first. Nadia, Scarlett’s best friend, was my favorite character I think. She gives unconditional love and has no judgment no matter what you’ve done. I also really liked Milo, the dog, and Keanu, the computer genius. Katie definitely has a talent because I was feeling every emotion that these characters felt. I believe deep down all of us secretly want an obsessive, all consuming love. There was so much sexual tension between the two it was unbelievable and hot. This story was emotional, raw, and twisted and was filled with many dark themes such as attempted sexual assault and violence- I was hooked from the start and it left me wanting more of this obsessive love!
*I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review
The author paints such vivid pictures with her words and this storyline is no different. Of note, this is a mf romance but has all the steam and darkness of her RH romances.
Where can I find my very own hot stalker????
This book was everything I expected plus so much more! A hot stalker who wants to give you everything and protect you – yes, please! Maybe it sounds crazy but when you realize a broken man looking for love is obsessed with a broken woman also looking for love…well I think you’ll find it makes for one heck of a story. Scarlett and Max were two broken souls that found each other and their journey to their HEA will have make you a little nervous, have you giggling at times, at other times yelling at them and finally turning you into the biggest rah-rah cheerleader you never knew you could be. This story was dark, beautiful, heartbreaking, hella sexy and dang if I don’t hope for my very own Max. Run, don’t walk, run to get this book and thank me later.
Loved this story, it was great seeing the character’s grow and have so much depth!! It was truly an amazing book and I can’t wait to see what else she has for us!!
Wow! What a wonderful ride. I seriously loved this book. The hot stalker and the beautiful girl, both broken and so damn good together. I have to say though, he really had me ticked off when he was trying to stay away from her for so long. He just kept being stupid!! But, I love how they are fixing each other and how it all comes together. I also love the hint of another book with other characters. I was hooked and you will be, too!
~ BREAKDOWN OF RATINGS~
Plot~ 5/5
Features broken characters who will find solace and hope in each other.
Character depth ~ 5/5
Pacing ~ 5/5
Multiple POV ~ Yes
Hero ~ 3/5
Soooo, this is awkward to write. I enjoy a supremely Alpha male who worships his lady.
But… my issue is with HOW his character was written. Max is VERY sappy and his thoughts are much too feminine. His need for succurance was a bit awkward. I feel like, his *actions were very male but his *thoughts and *dialogue were feminine. A very weird contrast, indeed.
Heroine~ 5/5
Strong-willed, intelligent, feisty (in and out of the bedroom)
Emotion felt by reader ~ 5/5
Dark themes (ex: violence, attempted sexual assult, gore, etc):
Without spoiling anything, some of these do pertain, but she does NOT experience these from the Hero
Sensuality, Passionate ~ 5/5
Se(xxx)y time(s) ~ 5/5 very H.O.T.
Dominance, some bondage, spanking, an@l
* 100% consensual btw the main characters.
Conclusion ~ 5/5
Cliffhanger ~ No
Book Cover ~ 5/5
*Because of the way the hero was written, I docked a star. Just didn’t connect with him outside of the bedroom. Wink, wink.
Everything else about the book is on point. So because of this, I still highly recommend it.
What doesn’t work for me, may work for you!! Plus, the sex scenes ARE
Straight away I was taken in, Max thinks he is a monster and doesn’t think he isn’t worthy of Love, he is obsessed with his neighbour Scarlett and their relationship evoles. This is a fantastic read and Katie Knight has not let us down. I laughed, cried and pulled my hair this is absolutely fantastic, amazing, brilliant and just plain fantastic and ladies we all need a Max Hunt in our lives. A must read
Holy cow this book is so AMAZING!!! I was sucked in from page one ! I absolutely LOVE dark reads anyway but this one wasn’t your typical dark romance !! It was dark at times it was funny at times and it was sad at times… Just be prepared once you start this book your gonna be sucked in till you finish it and then your gonna begging for more !!
No spoilers of any kind included.
I thought Scarlett Limerence was pretty awesome, K. A. Knight definitely kept me sitting on the edge of my seat with this book.
So I’m going to say that I most definitely do recommend this book because I really enjoyed reading it and I think you will too.
This a different genre for the author but I really enjoyed the book! The FMC, Scarlett,is supposedly sweet, but has a wicked side. Max, although obsessed with Scarlett,is convinced he’s too dark and should leave her be. There’s a lot of focus on their relationship building. Most of the steam comes in nearer to the end of the book. Def a great read!
Five dark, gritty, obsessively beautiful and HOT stars!
“Two people lost in a storm they have no control over. Two lost souls finding each other in the dark, not searching for the light. I don’t want to be saved if it means being without Max Hunt, I want to be damned with him.”
“There was never any going back,” I reply softly. “We were bound to collide, Max, two forces pulled together without either of us knowing. Limerence, a beautiful wreck.”
This beautiful story is about two lost, broken souls finding each other, falling madly in love and finding healing. It is well written and interesting story. I was hooked and engaged from the first page to the last.
Ok so wow so many emotions in one book, I am not normally a fan of Contemporary romance books but this book just hooked me from Ch.1 I couldn’t put it down. I was turned on, happy, sad, angry, scared worried and addicting all in a day. I LOVE me a tortured, demanding, Alpha male. I mean seriously love. I want a Mac and Milo of my own please!!! Buy this book and read it you won’t be disappointed at all
This is the dark and sexy romance I didn’t know I needed in my life. Scarlett and Max are the perfect broken pair, and even though I wanted to smack them both upside the head a few times, their love story is twisty and turbulent and hot, and I want more.
This book is fire, and you’ll probably need a cold shower when you’re done, and I have to warn you, it’s going to make you want the bad boys, even if they are bad news. Though I suppose if my own Max Hunt saved the day and stole my heart, I’d be a goner too.
This story was absolutely beautiful. I don’t even know where to begin expressing how much I loved it. K.A. Knight never ceases to amaze me with her books. Maximus is a cold hearted hitman who finds the love of his life in the girl next door. He’s a man with a dark and painful past who refuses to let his walls down until her. Scarlett is the unloved abused girl next door who works her a$$ off at work and at University just to be able to one day escape to a better life while everything at home crumbles. Until the Hottie next door finally inserts himself into her life and rescues her. Throw in an adorable 3 legged dog and it’s the romance story you wish you could live. This story had all the twists, turns, plots, darkness, murder, and Happy Endings you needed in it. I highly recommend this book 100%. Can’t wait to read Nadia’s story next.
“I have officially claimed her in every sense of the word, she just doesn’t know it yet…”
I’m a sucker for a stalker dark romance, throw in the mix an age gap and it will knock me off my feet!! K.A. Knight has once more wrote an amazing story with such a twist with the characters that I wasn’t expecting to fall in love with the stalker and yet, here I am daydreaming about Maximus Hunt…
Maximus Hunt is the darkness you fear, he’s been watching her from afar for years, he can’t taste her, because he knows the moment he does, he won’t let her go.
Scarlett, her present is the one she’s trying to flee; she needs to get away from the life she’s having, she needs the light after the dark. One taste of Max and she can’t stay away from him, she finds comfort in him, he protects her and that is something new to her, but secrets start to pile up and once they are out there might not be a way back.
This story has so much darkness but somehow the sweetness compensates and makes it the perfect storm; with the good and the bad and I have to say this is another win, even “if my heart is feeling sore, somehow I still want more” (How Would I Know- Kygo & Oh Wonder)…
I liked seeing K.A. Knight write outside of her norm (usually RH) and loved the story she created between Scarlett and Max. I think you could still tell it was her writing (like if you didn’t know it was her) because of the things that happen to the main characters (K.A. Knight does love some battles and gory scenes haha which really adds to her fictional worlds/stories). K.A. Knight does an amazing job in this book to make you fall for Scarlett and Max, root for them when they keep getting in their own way of happiness. Also when they are in danger, they never fail each other and that made me keep wanting to read. I was fully invested in their love and couldn’t NOT read what happened at the end. There were definitely some moments that made my heart skip a beat.
I loved Scarlett and how strong she was but how vulnerable she remained despite everything happening to her. I was so mad at the bullies and harassment she was getting, especially from those at the school who shouldn’t be doing that crap. They all got what they deserved, thanks to Max and even Scarlett herself. Loved the fight scenes and actually loved Max’s boss and the interactions we got with him. I wouldn’t mind learning more about him in the future haha. I also looooved the MC’s best friends and how they interacted with everyone. Nadia was a BA best friend and Keanu was crazy but sexy and super intriguing . A little preorder told me we get to read about their love next…I AM SO READY!!!
I think there were a couple reasons why I couldn’t give this book a 5 star rating. Scarlett so easily accepted things from Max (possessions). Now don’t get me wrong, I loved him doting on her, but when he went on the crazy shopping spree and she didn’t really even put up a fight (especially with the laptop and tablet) it kinda took me out of the story a little. That and sometimes Max’s inner monologue didn’t match his character, which happened a couple times in the book (like his gruff/unemotional/manly personality suddenly had a very more female perspective/stance). It wasn’t all the time, just a couple instances that made me stop and think if he would really do/think/feel that. Despite those little things for me, I still rated this story a 4-4.5 stars and cannot wait to read more in this universe!!
Definitely recommend this book, especially with how hot the chemistry was between Scarlett and Max (the scenes when they were even going at it, but teasing each other were the best!!). I bet the chemistry between Keanu (i.e. the Spider) and Nadia will be just as amazing. Great job, K.A. Knight
Scarlett Limerence is downright captivating. My very first read by Knight and I’m am literally hooked on her writing.
It’s such an amazing dark, stalker, with a little bit of age gap story. My heart was pounding with every word.
I couldnt help but fall into this deep and unwavering love for Max and Scarlett. Each are perfect and together they just amazed me.
Scarlet Limerence is one of my top reads of the year!
