Cinder, the cyborg mechanic, returns in the second thrilling installment of Marissa Meyer’s bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She’s trying to break out of prison — even though if she succeeds, she’ll be the Commonwealth’s most wanted fugitive. Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit’s grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn’t know about her grandmother or the grave … grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother’s whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her. As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana, who will do anything for the handsome Prince Kai to become her husband, her king, her prisoner. An NPR Best Book of 2013!

I’m so rusty on reviewing things I read for pleasure, not ARCs or review copies, but I’m trying to get better at both. And wow, does it feel good to finish series, and read backlist TBR titles, this one was a great place to really start that mission!
So, as so many people have read this, I’m going to do it differently that my normal …
Oh boy, did I enjoy this story.
I liked it even better than the first, which is in great part due to the character of Wolf, but I’ll get to that in a minute. The second book in the Lunar chronicles picks up where the other left off, and then starts up a whole new set of delightful subplots that all come together beautifully, if a bit violently. …
My heart, ACH! It’s been ripped to shreds. I honestly don’t know how I’m gonna give a good review and state all my feels, but I’m gonna try . . . mainly because it’s a popular book and I need to say something. xD
I’m still slowly coming back to reality . . . this book basically killed me. I have NEVER freaked out so much in one setting. My …
When I first read this I was surprised that it was from a different point of view. I am not usually one to read books with different POVs. But I was more than happy I kept with it and loved it as much as I did Cinder. This is an amazing series!
Scarlet is a “second act” book of a four-act series. That is one of the most difficult books to write, but Meyer crafted it well. She set up her large story-arc using four satisfying sections, with each focusing on a different romance. In this book, the mission of the protagonists leads to an action-packed story that, for someone who knows the …
This is the second book of the Lunar Chronicles, where we are introduced to Scarlet and Wolf. It was a page turner and I enjoyed learning more about this world as I followed the characters on this latest series of adventures.
I loved this sequel to Cinder even better than the first. Scarlet and Wolf are an odd couple with a lot of chemistry and I love the comic addition of “Captain” Thorne. Add in a neurotic spaceship and an army of wolf/lunar hybrids and this book soars. I’m looking forward to continuing the series.
Very good sequel to Cinder! Lots of fun, and don’t let the fairy-tale connection keep you away; at most it’s pretty tenuous and just adds more fun to the mix. ‘Fun’ twice in one sentence… That should tell you something!
of all of the lunar chronicles books, this would have to be my favorite by far! The characters are wonderful and it suprisingly made me cry close to the ending I suggest this boof to everyone!
I love how feisty Scar is
Waiting for movie!
So this is the 2nd book. This one is about Red riding hood (Scarlet). She’s looking for her grandma that has gone missing. Cinder is also in this book. We also meet Wolf. Wolf is a street fighter, and Scarlet needs him to help find her grandma.
I’m so happy to be back in the world of the Lunar Chronicles! Scarlet, is Marissa Meyer’s take on Red Riding Hood, big bad wolf and grandma included. As with Cinder, Scarlet is a whirlwind of a story, straight into the good stuff and the story blends seamlessly with the continuation of Cinder’s overarching story line. Scarlet is a girl on a …
I absolutely love Scarlet and Wolf’s relationship. This book was too short! Another win for Marissa Meyer.
I think this book was even better than Cinder. Very fast paced. Great characters. Loved how the new character tied in with the plot of book 1.
The actual rating is probably 4.5 stars.
My second favorite book in the series (the first being Cress), Scarlet is a major improvement to Cinder. The characters in general got some added depth, and it was simply a pleasure to read. I loved how everything intersected! Also, WOLF! IS! TOO! GOOD!
Actual Rating 3.5 stars
I enjoyed this book much better than Cinder. The story picked up right where Cinder ended and flips from Cinder and Scarlet’s POV. I liked this because their stories are connected and its great to see it revealed in the book as Cinder is trying to learn more about who she is and she came to be what she is. I have to say …
Gah! These books! AMAZING! What a sequel!
I was wondering, and a bit worried, about how much Cinder we were gonna get in this book since it was titled ‘Scarlet’ and obviously going to focus on this new character. I was very happy to find many chapters focused on Cinder!
The chapters rotate between Cinder and her new companion, the …
Absolutely loved this story. It was fun, adventurous and fast paced. Twisting the tale of little red riding hood into a modern day/futuristic adventure that will keep you guessing. I truly recommend this book to anyone and everyone who is up for fun.
Cannot wait to see what happens next in Cress by Marissa Meyer.
Really ejoyed this series. A very fun read.
