She can see the future. Dare she tell what she knows? A determined Scottish lady Seonaid Ferguson, a lady of Craiglocky Keep, is through with London’s Marriage Mart. After learning she has the second sight, the haut ton attempts to exploit her abilities. Even though it means she condemns herself to spinsterhood, Seonaid sets a desperate course to rid herself of her gift turned curse. As she … condemns herself to spinsterhood, Seonaid sets a desperate course to rid herself of her gift turned curse. As she rushes home from England, a snowstorm strands her in a crowded inn with the last man she ever wished to see again. A handsome French baron who once thought her a courtesan. And just her misfortune, only he stands between her and certain harm.
An honorable French nobleman
Jacques, Monsieur lebaron de Devaux-Rousset, ventures to Scotland to oversee his new investment; a silver mine near Craiglocky. Only a handsome profit will save his family’s destitute estate in France. But when the mine is beset with one problem after another, Jacques must instead search for an heiress to wed. He certainly should not be falling in love with the lovely, spirited sister of Laird Ewan MacTavish. A lass whose dowry is insufficient to restore his ancestral home. Nor should he consider, even for a moment, her risqué, but deliciously tempting scheme to rid her of the second sight.
A danger most dire
Matters are torn from their hands when a dangerous adversary vows to expose Seonaid as a witch, just as Jacques’s problems at the mine escalate into deadly violence. Is it by chance, or a dark design, that both of them are beset at once? Dare Jacques and Seonaid throw caution aside and forge a future together?
Though this book is part of a series, it is a stand-alone novel.

I found this to be an enjoyable read, in fact it was hard to put down as I wanted to find out what was going to happen next. The story flowed and wasn’t filled with page after page page of descriptive sex scenes. There was romance and it fitted naturally into the story.
I enjoyed my journey with the main characters!
Everyone should read this book it’s a true rewarding book.
Another winner……loved it as much as all the other Collette Cameron books……highly recommend it to everyone for a romantic & fun read!
Collette Cameron does a very good job with keeping you interested In the story.
Love her writing.
Great book; highly recommended.
My oh my! What a great tale Collette Cameron has weaved in Scandal’s Splendor, her 4th book in the Highland Heather Romancing a Scot series. We’ve got a lovely heroine that has second sight but wishes it gone, a dashing French lord who needs to make good on his investiture in a silver mine or marry an heiress, a strange and creepy vicar, and a loving family in the wilds of Scotland. There is mystery, humor, despicable deeds, and of course unmistakable fireworks between Jacques and Sionaid. What more could one ask for?
This is heartwarming series by Collette and the third book in the series I have read. I highly recommend.
4 – 4.5 stars
Jacque’s and Seonaid’s love story was beautiful to read! I loved how he accepted her second sight as part of her and not anything abnormal. They both were protective of the other and thought to keep each other safe. Loved seeing Ewan and Yvette again as well!
Seonoid Ferguson was done with London’s elite. Ever since it came to light that she had the second sight she was sought after and treated as an oddity. Home is the only place she wants to be and losing the second sight her only goal.
Jacques, Monsieur le baron Devaux-Rousset, French family estate needs money. With two options available – a silver mine investment in Scotland or marrying a rich heiress – he is hoping the first pays off.
From the moment of their disastrous first meeting, whenever they are together fireworks are sure to happen. Seonoid’s decision to rid herself of the second sight involves the one man she can’t stand. Jacques’ options become further limited to marrying an heiress, not the spitfire who has woven a spell around him.
When outside forces intervene will these two be able to work together or will things explode out of their control.
The fourth installment in Collette Cameron’s Highland Heather Romancing a Scot series showcases Ms. Cameron’s ability to draw the reader in and hold them there until “The End”.
Although this is the fourth in the series in can be read as a stand-alone.
I did not want to stop listening to this story! I fell in love with both Seonaid and Jacques, their desires, their wishes, and their understanding of their roles in life. There were some tears, racing hearts, and smiles as they found their happiness together. I loved this story and highly recommend it, whether in print or on audio.
I received a copy of the audiobook as a gift, and this is my unsolicited review.
This audio book was wonderful. With David Monteath the narrator, I felt I was really there with the characters!! I could listen to that accent forever and combined with a story by Collette Cameron, truly priceless!! Though part of a series, this can be read as a standalone book. Seonaid Ferguson has the second sight to see things in the future. She feels cursed at times but it gives a warning of danger to come. When Seonaid is stranded at an Inn due to a snowstorm, Jacques, Monsieur Lebaron de Devaux-Rouset, stands between her and harm. Due to investments not producing as they should Jacques is forced to look for an heiress to wed. This story has a little of it all. Intrigue, mystery, second sight, humor and of course intense attraction. The narrator does each voice a little different and holds you in a spell as the story progresses. A delightful audiobook, I could listen to this again and again!!
I think this is a really good story. It had drama, romance, and just loveable. I highly recommend it.
I enjoyed the story and the characters. The world created in the book is realistic and interesting, and lends the story a comfortable feel. (I was sad to see that the name of the book was shown as “Scandal’s Scandor” on the Table of Contents and the Title Page. Seeing such glaring mistakes before the story even starts was disappointing.. Sorry)
