Lady Sarah wants the freedom granted to men, but her only hope is a notorious rake out to keep his father’s support at any cost. Neither counted on falling in love.
Lord Julian Carrington, Marquess of Luvington is a notorious rake who is faced with the prospect of losing his inheritance abd the duchy if he does not marry a respectable young lady within a month due to the dictates of his father. Julian sets his sights on Lady Sarah she is a respectable young lady who will surely meet his father’s criteria.
However Sarah will not be easily won, as she is determined to only marry where her heart leads or not at all. Sarah is not easily dissuaded from her cause and seeks to gain all the freedoms she given to men. She sees Julian as a threat to all her carefully laid out plans, he could destroy her reputation after all he is a notorious rake, but the freedom that marriage to such a man could offer her is very tempting. So she strikes a bargain with him one that could cost not only her reputation, but their hearts.
I enjoyed their story as it was good to catch up on other characters in the series.

Delightful! Julian has a reputation for being a rake, while Sarah has a sterling one. Since Julian’s Duke of a father has mandated that he ‘secure a spouse of good reputation’ before the end of the month, or he will be entirely cut off financially, Julian has set his sights on Sarah. She has a hard time trusting his motives and so begins the game of courtship cat and mouse. It is a time fraught with parental pressure, misunderstandings, expectations, dashed hopes and distrust. And, just when things start looking up, a blast from the past blows in and threatens their relationship. Rake or not, Julian is a wonderful character who is kind, considerate and a little bit broken. Sarah just wants freedom and a love match, which sometimes makes her sound shrewish. This is a charming story, with endearing characters that l fully enjoyed. I can hardly await the next one in the series.

What a wonderful book. I very much enjoyed it and want to read the rest of the series. Amanda has a way of writing that puts into the scene like you are there.

A historical romance with nice story line and plot. It is of a nice length. The second in the series but can be read as a standalone.
Characters well described. The author has a depth to the description of the events. The story flows well of the pages.
I would have liked the facts to be correct. That the author was more true to the time period when it comes to the rules of inheritance, weddings and such.
Enjoyable and easy to read.

This storyline is amazing and kept me wanting more. It is Intriguing and full of Suspense. I Recommend for OVER 18 DUE TO CONTENT.

Lord Julian’s father told him he either find a bride or become a broke Marquess until he inherits the Duchy.
Sarah knows Julian is a rake and tries to keep her distance. While Julian tries to find a way to court her.

The second book of the Ladies and Scoundrels finds a young Lord order by his father to marry within a month and a young woman who wants only to marry for love. I loved when they made the agreement and the give and take between these two. At the end, of course, there is a misunderstanding and a bit of drama too, but it just made the book a true pleasure to read cannot wait to start book 3. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

Julian’s father forces him to choose a bride and marry before the end of the season or he will cut off his allowance. Sarah refuses to marry for anything but love and she sees Julian as a rake that ruined another lady 3 years ago and rebuffs his courtship. She was a bit of shrew in the beginning, judgmental, and not giving him a chance. Fortunately her friend makes her see that there are multiple sides to any story and to see below the surface of a person.
