Novella length with three different Christmas stories. Not really a stand-alone, so much better if you read the series in order. Scandalous Ballroom Encounters is where you will first meet the characters in these stories. Quick reads with lots of steaminess!! So awesome to see how far our favorite characters have come a few years in the future!
I was gifted this amazing hot Christmas romance!! I adore the characters in each story! Ms. Vale never fails with her characters lives, her detail to attention, dialogue, and sizzling love scenes!
I have been readng Historical romance for over 25 years, and Ms. Vale is one of my new favorites!
Super steamy with a Christmas twist. Scandalous Christmas Encounters Volume 3 by Victoria Vale is book 3 in A Regency Erotic Romance Anthology. Though in a series this book can be read as a standalone. What I really liked about this book was that not only did it have 3 different stories in it but Victoria use some of her characters from different books that she had already written so you get to read their stories after they have wed. That is some amazing writing and imagination! The first story is about role reversal, the second about a pregnancy and a little misguided info and the 3 story is about a happy threesome. If you like a good steamy book than this is the book for you!!
***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Love these three series about some of my favorite couples. Simon has trouble not being in control and learns to let go of control and be a submissive to his lovely wife sophie. Sinclair learns that hot steamy sex during during lydia’s pregnancy is not only safe but can be awesome with some help from his sister in law. Penelope is legally married to ed but is also married to colin. This sexy threesome almost has their secret and marriage ruined while at a Christmas party. The hostess of the party seems to have learned of their secret. You have to read this book. I loved it!!!
Victoria Vale always know how to keep me reading! She adds a little bit of spice and sauce to each book. Amazing author!
I love the Christmas Encounters! They give us a chance to revisit some our favorite characters to see where their lives have gone and how they are interconnected. It’s like a steamy extended epilogue! This one gave me an excuse to go back and enjoy Tempting Two all over again since I was having trouble recalling the full story. It was just as good the 2nd time around! You won’t regret reading this book!
4.5 stars: This book is very much like visiting old friends with each of the three novellas in this book. Make no mistake though, you CAN read it as a standalone if you’re looking to get an idea of Victoria Vale’s writing. As always with her books, it’s very well written, edited, and smoking HOT. I think if you start with this book though, you’ll definitely want to read the original books to see how each of the couple(s) meet and their respective love stories. The only thing that could have made it better is longer stories because I didn’t want to leave the world that Ms. Vale has so deftly crafted.
A Christmas Submission
This one features Simon and Sophie (one of my favorites of Ms. Vales’s couples from Submitting to the Marquis). We get to see how their lives are five years into their marriage that started as one of convenience but has definitely grown into a deep love between the two. I loved seeing this different side of Simon and I shouldn’t have ever doubted I could feel otherwise in the hands of one of my favorite erotic historical authors. If you like reading about BDSM in a very realistic and healthy manner, read every book about this couple that you can.
Binding His Bride.
This one has the newlywed couple Sinclair and Lydia from the book Her Beautiful Bastard. This story was cute and sweet with a slight misunderstanding between the two and had me laughing out loud in several areas. Don’t get me wrong though, their story was just as hot as you’ve come to expect from this author.
Their Scandalous Christmas
This is the story that I was really interested in seeing. I mean how often do we get to see a M/F/M menage YEARS After their story takes place? Edmond, Penelope, and Colin’s story seen originally in the book Tempting Two is a bit more complicated as it involves not just the three of them now, but their children. I love the dynamic between the three of them and this book didn’t disappoint. This threesome is just as hot as they have ever been and probably more so now that there is a deeper level of trust in their relationship not just with Penelope, but with the men as well. I always liked Ed and Colin’s friendship and I think Penelope as their wife just makes it stronger.
Want to catch up with some of your favorite characters? This trilogy includes Simon and Sophie, Sinclair and Lydia and our favorite trio Ed, Penelope and Colin. These short stories are almost hotter than their original books. Another scorcher from Ms Vale and her talented mind.
Everyone who knows me, knows I love it when erotica is combined with extensive character development and a real PLOT (yes, erotica writers, every one of your books should have something of a plot – and if you aren’t sure what that is, read this book). But Holy Hell, Victoria Vale, you outdid yourself with this one! Keeping in mind that a good review isn’t a re-hash of a book, it is an opinion of how well the book is written and how well the characters meld into the plot, and how well the author has developed their craft – there will be no spoilers here.
Let me say that, previously, Ms. Vale created two characters that I’ve come to think are my best friends, in Regency times that is. Simon and Sophie, a/k/ Simon and Sophronia Fitzwilliam, a/k/a The Marquis of Ashton and his lovely wife. They’re in a happy marriage now, Simon has Sophie as his one and only – wife and submissive. They have wonderful children. What else did they need? Read the book and find out. I don’t give out spoilers here. Not even a hint. Well, maybe a hit. Simon and Sophie complete the circle in this book and truly define a D/s power exchange like no other. In fact, this first story in this book of three stories, was so powerful, to me, that I had to take a short break after reading it, all the while thinking…OMG, the author is a genius.
Then of course, I had to read the two stories following it too, because if I don’t read all three, then what good am I as a reviewer?
Binding his Bride – no, Sinclair isn’t going too far off the reservation. No fear, he isn’t turning into a Dominant, at least not just yet. Of course, if Lydia enjoys it as much as she appears to, he might consider it his part-time job. But that isn’t going to be what you remember of this book. What you remember of this story will be when Sinclair, in all his innocence, walks into a study where Amelia (sister of Simon) and her husband Michael Darling are having a bit of fun. Well, fun for them. Total confusion and chaos for Sinclair. If you want a laugh to bring you out of a holiday funk, this scene, in this story will do it for you. Remember I’d taken a break after the first story? Well, I had to do the same here, because I was choking on my Pumpkin Spice coffee. Good choking, laughing choking.
Then we have the third story. And let me say that she outdid herself in all of these, but frankly, I was trying to figure out what she could possibly do to Edmond, Penelope, and Colin, that they hadn’t already done. We are talking a menage here and believe me, a hot hot hot menage as only Victoria Vale can write them. Well, I was quite surprised by the turn of events in this story, and once again, no spoilers, but Colin gets himself into quite a jam, but is “rescued” if that term applies, by the Darlings, with whom his wife and her husband are having a Holiday Dinner. Keep in mind that Colin and Edmond’s story with Penelope is one where sometimes you need a scorecard, especially now that they’ve added children to the mix. But the children added another facet to the story, and as with all Victoria Vale books, the characters are so well developed that there is nothing that you won’t understand.
Victoria Vale is gloriously talented in the craft of writing. I know a lot of you feel that any type of erotica is the easiest to write since isn’t it just Tab A going into Slot A? You are every so very wrong. I’ve been reading erotica since I was old enough to buy it without getting a raised eyebrow from a sales-clerk. My first purchase was The Story of O, and I went from there. I’ve read both very good and very bad erotica, and a lot of the current “erotica” is really just porn in disguise, because it lacks a plot and character development, and EMOTION. Ms. Vale’s books have more emotion than you can handle and a plot that lends itself seamlessly to the wonderful characters she paints. Yep, I’m a fan but I’m also a critical reader. I will tear a book apart if it isn’t well written and if it doesn’t contain the proper parts in the proper order, written in a cohesive and understandable way. I’ve NEVER had that problem with Ms. Vale’s books. Not ever.
Ms. Vale – I have no idea how you manage to be quite so spot on with every book you write. I think I would like to rummage through that head of yours once just to see what’s in there. But in the meantime, speaking as a long time reader of erotica, as a long-time owner of a Kindle (on which you are prominently placed), and a former practitioner of a very special lifestyle that you so lovingly add to your books, you are one of the best! Hands down. I have the occasional debate with people over erotica and your books are the example I use. That says it all. Muah!
WOW WOW WOW! I don’t know what more I can say! A…they are set at Christmas time and B…2 of my favorite couples appear (ok…more like 3 because Michael and Amelia are present and OMG their scene in book 2 with Sinclair and Lydia had me dying!!!!..with laughter). Simon and Sophie’s story broke my heart a little…poor Simon…but what a relationship those 2 have. They are so perfect together. Then in book 2 when Sinclair “accidentally” hurts Lydia’s feelings I felt so sad for her but then when he finds Michael OMG! I love that Amelia can fix it! Book 3 is good but not my favorite because I just don’t connect very well with Penelope, Edmond and Colin. I love that it all worked out in the end for them. Thank you Victoria for another Christmas visit to some of our favorite couples in your world!
Submitting to the Marchioness
Allowing yourself to submit unconditionally is one of the hardest things you can do. Once Simon realizes he is being unfair to Sophie and his relationship and decides to give over control, he understands the complete cycle. A beautiful short story of understanding and trust.
Binding His Bride
I loved Sinclair and Lydia in their long story and this short story solidifies my feelings for them. Their passion could not be put on hold because of pregnancy even though Sinclair tries his hardest. They are explosive when they come together and I could read about their lives for a long time. They are fantastic characters.
Their Christmas Scandal
Colin has long been a favorite. Even though he is really not the odd man out, he feels like he is and this story just tore at my heart. We all want to feel loved and when he finally realizes that he is loved to the ends of the earth you feel that everyone can be loved, we just need reassurances sometimes. Another great short story.
I received a complimentary copy from the author.
Submitting to the Marchioness
Lord Simon Fitzwilliam, Marquis of Ashton and his wife, Sophie, have an arrangement that works well for them. As a Dominant, he has found in her his perfect mate as well as the consummate submissive. Then Sophie raises the notion of switching roles for one night.
Simon & Sophie attempted to switch roles several years ago but it ended badly, Simon is thrown into a panic but advice from Lady Dane makes him think. A lovely short story of really trusting & loving your spouse.
Binding His Bride
Sinclair Clayton and his bride Lydia are enjoying the honeymoon phase of their new union. Or, at least Lydia thought they were. When it seems her new husband has grown cold, she sets out to find out why and stoke his desire for her once more. Little does she know that her husband has surprising plans of his own. Sin has some misconceptions that are threatening his marriage, it takes Amelia to ‘put him straight’. Another delightful read which had one hilarious scene.
Their Christmas Scandal
Lady Penelope Ingham has found true happiness in her secret, unconventional marriage to two men. Lord Edmond Ingham and Captain Colin Worthing have filled her life with laughter, joy, and family, proving that love is better suited for three than two. While no one outside their household can ever know about their union, they are perfectly content with the way things are. However, a debutante is determined to pursue Colin gain it’s Amelia to the rescue. Another engrossing read of true love & some insecurities being aired.
Three engrossing short stories, I went to bed thinking to read just one but ended up reading all three. As with all the author’s books the characterisation is spot on. Yes there’s sex but even in a novella there’s a story & each story highlights the depth of love and trust that each character has for their partner(s) & especially in Simon & Sophie’s story how strong their connection is.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
*A Christmas Submission – The story of Simon and Sophie continues. Sophie is still the submissive to Simon but she has had thoughts of being the dominant partner at least once. Because of the sexual abuse Simon suffered at the hands of his guardian, who was his uncle, he can not physically tolerate submitting to another person. Because of excellent advise from a dear friend, he comes to see Sophie’s need along with the realization that she would never hurt or humiliate him. There is a wonderful outcome at the end of this story. This is an excellent read and hopefully not the end of their story.
*Binding His Bride – I love the continuation of Sinclair and Lydia’s story. Lydia is pregnant and Sinclair, who is afraid he will hurt her and the baby she is carrying, has reframed from sex. His first wife put these thoughts in his head to keep him out of her bed. Amelia and Michael convinced him that this was not true and he needed to get her to understand why he acted as he did. There is a happy ending but a lot happens between them first. This is a great story but please don’t let it be the end of their story. I especially like the first part of this story when he walks in on Michael tied to a chair and he misunderstands and try to help, this was a riot of laughs for me.
*Their Scandalous Christmas – As far as Penelope is concerned she has two husbands, Edmond and Colin, even though she has been legally married only to Edmond for the past seven years. Their relationship and interaction with each other and their children are the main part of this story. A young debutante tries to compromise Colin into marrying her but fails.
All three of the above stories revolve around the strong relationships that are evident between each of these couples. The love they share, both emotional and sexual, is very strong and vividly described in these writings. These are great stories, wonderfully written and I would highly recommend this book as a great read as I know you will not be disappointed.
