My bandmate’s little sister.
Spicy and sweet. The spark that fires my inspiration. The rhythm to my beat.
She’s the one I imagine when I settle for the others. My ultimate fantasy. Only I can never have her.
Until I arrive in Vegas to record my solo rap album, visit a strip club, and there she is. Miriam was supposed to be in college, but she’s not. She is so not.
Sin City, a place where anything can happen, and I’m the only one in the band who knows her secret.
So why resist anymore?
Who could possibly stop me?

Another good read in the series, although this one was not my fav.
This romance between King and Miriam was a LONG time coming – she had been crushing after him for years, and had certainly noticed her.
She is all grown up now, and not doing what she is telling everyone she is doing – in Sin City of all places. King is in Las Vegas, with a buddy; heading out for some entertainment, they go to a club, and what a surprise, when a lovely, grown up Miriam known as Queen, is the main attraction.
Scandalous Beat (Tempest #7) was another great read by Michelle Mankin. Joaquin Acenado is a drummer, a rapper, and a rock king. But he’s also arrogant with a do not go there attitude. He was Miriam Jackson’s first love although he always thought he was too old for her. She’s an exotic dancer and was always off limits to Juaquin because she was one of his bandmates younger sister. They see each other again when they are older in Las Vegas. I loved reading Juaquin and Miriam’s story and can’t wait to red more by the author.
This is the sixth and final book of Tempest Rock Star series. Full length told in dual POV. Can be read as stand-alone, but I recommend reading the series from the beginning because the secondary characters are throughout the series. The band is a family and are all from the same neighborhood where each member has their own struggles. Lots of background given to these complex characters. Miriam is the younger sister of one of Juaquin’s band mates, therefore off limits. Juaquin rebuffs Miriam’s advances even though they have wanted only each other for years. Juaquin is away from the band doing his own project when he has a chance meeting with Miriam, and decides it is time to make her his. Their road to HEA is not easy. Juaquin is fiercely protective and patient, and he doesn’t let Miriam’s brother, boyfriend, or employer come between them. I loved the epilogue it really tied up the whole series!
Scandalous Beat, my first book by this author. I may not have read the previous book from this series but I was able to connect to the story.
What I really enjoyed about this book is how Miriam tries to stand on her own after losing her scholarship. She became a Vegas stripper and she’s good at being one but at the back of her mind, this is just a way to save and plans to go back school and finish it. She’s a strong-willed, feisty, and sensitive but sometimes she doubts herself and thinks she doesn’t deserve any good things that come her way.
Juaquin is a drummer of the Tempest band who got it bad for Miriam. Whom he saw growing up being the little sister of a bandmate Bryan, therefore it’s off-limits. But when Juaquin saw Miriam in Vegas doing a provocative dance in front of him. Juaquin wants her and damn the consequences of loving her.
Miriam and Juaquin definitely know how to deliver some steamy scene(s) that will leave you hot and bothered. Juaquin is one hot Latino lover and very well-endowed. *wink*
As I mentioned earlier, this is my first book of Michelle Mankin and definitely not the last. I like how she wrote this story and I’m looking forward to reading more of her books in the future. Highly recommended!
