The mighty Fae are tricksters. They love their games, their intrigues, and their own kind. Until they don’t… have given us four days to find the second artifact, an artifact that will help save our realm.
Four. Days.
It is simply not possible.
My name is Trixie Towers. I am the elven princess who is soul mated to the shifter king. My life is so dreadfully complicated now.

Scarlett Dawn as always is a genius when it comes to writing a good dialog and interesting characters. They are all, even the minor ones, fully fleshed out and fantastic. What I really love about this series is the alternative nature to the over used soul mate topic. It brings up the question of what would your life be like if you had a soul mate that you were not necessarily attracted to or liked very much. I always found the concept of ‘soul mates’ weird and so I am loving this story
I love this series so much! I love the adventure, Trixie’s feistiness and penchant for trouble, and the jaw-dropping, delectable tension between Trixie and Athon. I can’t wait for more to be revealed and need more of this series. I highly recommend if you love edgy fantasy, with a healthy dose of adventure, snark, and steam!
It was good, but…
****3.5 Stars****
I enjoyed reading Scales and Skeletons and think Scarlett Dawn has created a great set of character, an interesting storyline, and a very, very different love story. While I enjoyed Trixie and Athon’s story, there were times I did have a few reservations. All of the characters are original, quirky and I can picture them easily in my mind. The storyline is fast-paced, exciting and riveting. The very, very different love story is the one thing I’m struggling with.
Can a relationship be a success if the couple is not physically or sexually attracted to each other? I know mutual respect, friendship and appreciation for intelligence and skill are a great basis, but what if even those things are missing. Trixie and Athon are connected to each other but hate every moment of it.
I was amused in Trixie Towers #1 by the hero and heroine’s hate for each other, but this time, I was a little uncomfortable with it. Having them openly share their dislike of appearance, natural instincts and heritage, seemed mean and very narrow-minded. There is one particular scene that left me scowling at my Kindle. It didn’t stop me from reading but I am getting a wee bit sick of these two and their hate.
I almost want something…anything to happen to change their hate to love. How about…all of a sudden, he finds her pointy ears sexy, and she finds his big muscles wrapped around her, warm and reassuring. Wishful thinking…maybe.
I will keep going in the Trixie Towers series but I’m hoping for things to change between Princess Trixie and King Athon, King of the Shifters.
On another note…It does not compute that Trixie finds King Athon ugly and gross. HE’S A BIG, MUSCLEY SHIFTER for crikey sakes!! When picturing King Athon, I have Chris Hemsworth’s *Thor* in my head…thank you, thank you, thank you, Scarlett Dawn.
Trixie is trouble with a capital T. She and King Athon, the Shifter King, are soul-mated and they don’t want to be. It is forbidden for different species to mate. This is a journey of discovery for both Athon and Trixie.
King Athon needs to fight off challengers to his throne. He is filled with tension from the mating with Trixie. He needs to make sure that during these challenges that Trixie not heal him from the bond between them. Trixie is curious and penetrated the Shifter Kingdom to observe the challenge. She is escorted to Athon. Then the second quest is activated and Trixie is missing,(but she is not). Trixie is seated under the desk that Athon is seated, with all the other rulers gathered around.
Trixie is learning about the shifter world and more about her mate. They still must complete the mission but Trixie is then kidnapped.
What a active, fun-filled book. It is a page turner and you are sitting on the edge until the end. I cannot wait until the next book. They two characters are enthralling.
Good Fae! This series is so original and refreshing. This book was omg-on-the-edge-of-my-seat-pulling-my-hair-out-biting-my-nails fantastic!
I’m just loving this series
Trixie and the rest of the rulers are off again on their next quest to save the realm. This time they are in shifter territory and Trixie and Athon continue to not get along while entertaining us with sarcasm that rivals a comedian…but ultimately just makes me laugh
I can’t wait for their next adventure and sincerely hope the next book is not far away
