A rating. I loved this book and getting to read about Cooper and Nine’s vlog/youtube adventure. It was so fun and a great escape. Wonderfully entertaining!!
I definitely recommend it!
Another winner!!
This is my first book by rhis author and I really enjoyed it. It was funny and swoony and so romantic. I loved Cooper and Nine together.
It’s got forced proximity and brother’s best friend but it’s also about family and friendship. I loved both the character, how different they were from each other but so perfect together. It made me smile so much. Highly recommend it if you’re looking for a light hearted, fun read filled with emotions.
Written in dual POV, it’s a wonderful story with low angst. It’s a standalone and there’s also a short story for Cooper’s twin, which made me super happy!

This book was just perfect. When I think about what makes a good book, I think about Lucy’s writing style. Lots of romance. Lots of warm feelings. Little angst. And a heart warming HEA for her characters. That describes this book to a T. As I read this story I wanted to hurry up and get to the ending to see them get to their HEA but at the same time I really wanted to slow down and surround myself with the warmth of their love. This will definitely be on my lists for favorite of the year. A Must Read. (And don’t forget to sign up to get the added bonus – it’s worth it!)
5 Super Nine Stars
Cooper and Nine are now my favorite couple of Lucy Lennox! I loved how it was best friends to lovers and fake boyfriends. Cooped up with Nine is the show they have to document and film renovating a mountain cabin. The catch is they have to pretend to be boyfriends. This story really drew me in from the first pages and I was sad when I read the last romantic scene. Never hesitate to 1-click any Lucy Lennox book!
So I’m not going to go there by four paths or make you languish for too long. I just loved this new novel by the author. I was a little disappointed with By the way, her last release in collaboration with Molly Maddox, but with this title, I found everything I love with Lucy.
We have the right to a sexy, funny and warm story, all with lots of good feelings. It’s a real page turner. I didn’t let go of my reader until I finished it in a few hours.
I really liked the characters, especially Nine, well Isaac whose real name. Since his childhood, he has been put aside a little. He does not make waves, not even to assume his “non heterosexuality”. We can count on him and that’s what people around him expect from him. But he, all he wants is something of his own. You might think at first that he is a bit “stupid” but in fact, there is a lot of candor in this character. He is a good man, who always seeks the well being of others even if it must come before his own. It touched me, but it also annoyed me. At times I wanted to shake him up and say “damn Isaac do something, say something! ”
As much Issac is discretion itself, as much Cooper is its opposite. I wouldn’t say it’s flamboyant, but it’s pretty exuberant… full of life you might say. He’s the best friend of Isaac’s big brother who went on a hollywodian dream in LA but who had to return to his small town to take care of his twin brother who suffered from a serious illness. You see the thing? Despite appearances, he’s really a chic guy. You might think it is all against them, but they have the same ability to love and help the people they care about.
With Say you’ll be nine, I appreciated that the author went off the beaten track. Here the whole family is not from the LGBTQ + spectrum and they are not all PRO GAY. HALLELUYAH! It’s not that I don’t like series like Made Marian and Forever Wilde, but it’s nice, a little new and a touch of realism. Especially on this point, Lucy offers us a story fairly rooted in reality and which could very well have happened to one of us, well of course, if you have a penis and like penises what.
In the end, Say you’ll be nine is an MM romance that I highly recommend. There is everything we love and all without excess. So why deprive yourself !
This book was fabulous! I loved Isaac (Nine) and Cooper, who have instantly become one of my favorite couples. This book was all the good adjectives: sweet, funny, sexy, heartfelt, hopeful, loving, and on and on!
It was wonderful to see Isaac blossom under the attentions of someone who truly saw and appreciated him. It broke my heart to see how hard Cooper tried to protect himself from admitting to needing someone and possibly getting hurt because of that perceived weakness. I cried a little, and I laughed a lot, as I fell in love with Nine, Cooper, and their doggy companion Nacho.
I highly recommend this book. You will love it. It’s going directly into my reread rotation, and the paperback version will be on my bookshelf as soon as I can get my hands on it!
Happy sigh!
Say You’ll Be Nine hit my Kindle app earlier today and I barely made myself do anything else once I started reading Cooper and Nine’s story. I’ve not moved from my bed for the last hour and a half, finishing it in one long, refreshing gulp like the kiwi-strawberry water that Coop makes for Nine.
It’s vintage Lucy Lennox, with plenty of snappy dialogue, wonderful characters, and just enough emotional upheaval to make it achingly sweet when the two men get their HEA. The supporting cast holds their own without taking over the story, though I am eager to get to the promised short with Coop’s brother.
I enjoyed the premise and the plot, but mostly I fell in love with Isaac – Nine – and Cooper. Okay, so more Nine than Coop, but they’re perfect together. And Lucy proved yet again why her books are recommended and re-read so often – she just plain knows how to write entertaining stories that touch your soul and warm your heart, with characters that you want to know for real.
You’ll want to be sure you have some uninterrupted time to read with this one – at least I did. It’s an instant classic.
I loved Nine (Isaac) right away. He’s a great guy who selflessly helps everyoe.
Cooper is in need of money to help pay for his brother’s surgery.
Together they become fake boyfriends for Nines you tube channel. One of my favorite tropes.
They were so sweet together.
I really enjoyed watching their relationship evolve.
Ups and downs, family troubles and employment opportunities test what they are trying to build.
This story showed the great connection between Nine and Cooper. It was well paced and flowed well.
A sweet, happy, feel good romance.
Say You’ll Be Nine is a fun, easy, standalone, contemporary read by Lucy Lennox.
A few of my favourite tropes are included – fake boyfriends *tick*, brother’s best-friend *tick*, bi-awakening *tick*.
Nine and Cooper are great together. What started out as a fake vlog relationship, quickly turns into something more when they are forced to live in a RV while renovating (let’s be real – rebuild) a cabin for a sponsor.
Say You’ll Be Nine is very well written and kept me engaged from the very beginning.
If you’re looking for an easy read that warms your heart and leaves your soul smiling, you can’t go past this book!!!
I absolutely LOVED this sweet, fantastic, poignant, slow burning, grab-you-by-the-feels, amazing, charming, fun, witty, engaging, emotionally charged, beautiful, tug-at-your-heartstrings, heartfelt, and totally awesome twist on the fake boyfriend/best friend’s brother storyline. It had me hooked from beginning to end, and I ended up with a massive book hangover because I just could NOT put it down. (Other than attending to screaming granddaughters.) I would DEFINITELY recommend getting this marvelous gem immediately!
5 Stars!
OMG, so this review is probably going to be the most incoherent thing ever and I’m sorry about that, but I don’t think my words could ever do justice to Nine and this book.
I absolutely adored Nine. He was just amazing, a gentle giant, hardworking, steadfast, shy, funny and sweet, and if Lucy could clone him, I’d be the first in line for one of my very own. My heart just broke for him I don’t know how many times for how his family treated him, mostly his parents. I get having 10 kids isn’t easy, but no one made them do it and the way they relied on Nine for everything but didn’t quite give that same support back, at least not until that last scene with his dad in the end, made me very angry at them. I haven’t come across that many demi/gray characters and I really loved how that part of the story was dealt with and how Nine absolutely owned up to his sexuality and refused to be pushed into whatever heteronormative role his mother wanted him in.
I really liked Cooper, but there were so many times I wanted to slap some sense into him—especially when he did or said something that hurt my baby Nine and yeah, I hold grudges—and like Eli, Nine’s older brother and Cooper’s friend, said, Nine was too good for him. Then again, Nine was too good for anyone, so there’s that. LOL He was nice overall, a good son and brother, hardworking and while he had intimacy issues, it was kind of understandable.
The chemistry between Nine and Cooper was explosive and I loved seeing Nine gain more confidence in everything the more time they were together. I adored the vlog and the good night posts they made and just seeing them fall in love with each other, even if it killed me when Cooper was being difficult.
I laughed and I cried and I was blown away with Lucy’s brilliant writing and storytelling skills (and Nine and that fabulous epilogue!) and I’m pretty sure you’d be to if you picked up this fantastic book!

Goodness, but how I adored this story and these main characters! This was such an easy, breezy read, one that had me smiling most of the time, but there were also distinct moments that pinged at my heart, particularly, when it came to how Nine didn’t see himself as anyone special and when Cooper was by his brother’s bedside. I’d be hard-pressed to choose who between the two of them I related to more because there were aspects to both their personalities and circumstances that I empathized with and also saw within myself. I loved that this was a story about love for self and for family as much as it was about the romantic sort of love between Nine and Cooper. These two had such different personalities, but they also shared certain similarities, especially when it came to love of and selflessness for family and the pursuit of their dreams. Absolute bonus points go to Nacho, Nine’s Labrador retriever, who was a significant part of the life these two created for themselves. Notable supporting characters included Eli, Jacks (who gets his own sweet short story, Jacks and Marchie, which you can snag for free via the author’s newsletter), Cooper’s mom, and Nine’s dad. After what’s been a disheartening few days in the news, Say You’ll Be Nine may very well be the perfect pick-me-up for fans of M/M romance like me. Five-plus stars.

I love this book. The passion and love within these pages are palpable.
Cooper’s character is vibrant, take no prisoners, in your face fun. He easily carries the onus of moving the story along. His effect on Nine was fascinating to watch. Coop’s backstory and the reason he’s with Nine is touching and sad.
Nine is the sweetest character ever. You wouldn’t think such a quiet character could steal the show, but, for me, he does. As much as I love Cooper, I absolutely adore Nine. It was lovely watching him grow and gain confidence as the book went on.
Nine and Cooper are a beautiful couple that feeds each other’s needs as they stumble through their time in the wild. I had all the feels and was disappointed when the book was done.
I would never have thought I would enjoy a standalone as much as I have enjoyed this author’s series, but I do. I mean, it’s all in there. Everything needed to make these characters, the secondary characters, and this reader happy.
As always, I look forward to more from this author.
