Falling in love with your ex should never feel this good …
Twelve years, three cities, and too many pairs of stilettos later, Shaelyn Lawrence is back in the one place she vowed never to return: New Orleans.Thankfully, her hometown stint is temporary. Better yet, she has a plan guaranteed to get her out ASAP:
Return her aging-but-still-crazy grandmother back to health;
Help her cousin with … ASAP:
- Return her aging-but-still-crazy grandmother back to health;
- Help her cousin with her boutique;
- Evade Brady Taylor, her high school sweetheart, a.k.a the reason she fled Louisiana in the first place.
Brady isn’t even a footnote … until one unexpected run-in with him changes everything. She shouldn’t be tempted by his drawl, she shouldn’t be tempted by the promise of his kiss, she shouldn’t want him.
But she does.
Oh, boy, this was so not the plan.
– –
Twelve years, one city, and too many issued traffic tickets later, Homicide Detective Brady Taylor is all geared up for being promoted to sergeant within the New Orleans Police Department. Or, he would be — if he wasn’t sitting in third place.
Thankfully, he’s cut out every possible distraction:
- Hanging out with his buddies;
- Women;
- And, God help him, football.
His life should be distraction-free . . . but then Shaelyn Lawrence waltzes back into it, with her sexy red lips, curvy body, and her f***-me heels. Brady should run in the opposite direction. He definitely shouldn’t spend time pursuing her, kissing her, or landing her in his bed.
But he does.
Shaelyn may have left once, but Brady is determined to prove that Shaelyn belongs in New Orleans. She belongs with him.
For fans of Jill Shalvis and Lauren Layne, Maria Luis’ new sexy contemporary romance will leave you laughing and desperate for more! SAY YOU’LL BE MINE is the first full-length novel in the NOLA Heart series, but can be read as a standalone.
This is such a fun book to read! I love Shaelyn and Brady – they’re almost more fun apart than they are together! Maria Luis is a master at including multi-dimensional supporting characters in addition to absolutely wonderful main characters, and she’s one of the funniest authors I’ve ever read! Every part of this story is perfect – the love is deep and emotionally fulfilling, the tension is palpable, the meddling is well-intended, the antics are hilarious, and the HEA is exquisite. It’s a beautiful story, beautifully told. I highly recommend this book – one of the best I’ve read this year! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Sexy second chance romance. I loved the mystery of the case Brady is working on. I also love the mystery of Shaelyn’s work past. Once they are fully honest with each other, then they can forgive and move forward to their HEA. I loved it.
We have a New Orleans detective who hooks back up with his high school girl friend after 12 years. Really? Parts of this were excellent,grandmothers, friends, cat. And then there is the rest. Tired of the grown up teenager angst and the side story that just disappeared.
A Book Worthy of Rereading
I just finished listening to Say You’ll be Mine by Maria Luis and I love it! it’s definitely a book worthy of repeat reading or in this case listening to. I love a story of rekindling old love. This story of Shaelyn Lawrence coming back to New Orleans to take care of her ailing grandmother and running into her old flame Brady Taylor who is now on the police force. I thought this was funny, and sexy. such a smart and entertaining book.
Brady and Shaelyn were in love but stuff happens and though they haven’t seen each other for years. Shaelyn comes back for her grandmother who Is a trip lol and meets back up with Brady can they have there second chance. Loved the characters and storylines. The more I read of Marie Luis it keeps getting better.
I was drawn to this series because I love all things New Orleans. So what better than a love story in NOLA! I really enjoyed this second chance romance. Brady and Shaelyn have the chance to right old wrongs and misunderstandings, but have to get past the fear and earn back trust and forgiveness. I enjoyed the chemistry between the two of them and loved the sarcastic banter. I look forward to reading Danvers story.
Second chance romance for Brady and Shaelyn. Both their grandmothers are crazy and hilarious, and both will do anything to try get them back together. Prepare to laugh, feel both their fear and appreciate their friends and family.
This book has all the right elements, great characters, perfect details of the landscapes, wonderful second chance, and a happy ending! Having read Maria Luis’ hockey books, I was already hooked on her stories, this one just sealed the deal. Cannot wait to see what comes next in this series.
Funny
What are you suppose to do with two meddlesome grandmas. Bring their grandchildren back together where they belong. Brady stated in New Orleans. Shea ran but now she is back.
3.5 all the way . I am a sucker for a good second chance romance , throw in some suspense and it is the perfect combination for me. I loved everything about this book . The characters were great , I did feel that Shae was a little whinnie for my taste so that took away from the story . However you can’t go wrong g if you love a second chance romance.
I’ll start by saying that I love when an author submerges you in the culture and feel of the city they are writing about. New Orleans is a vibrant city, rich with culture and history and using that as a backdrop for this sexy, funny second chance romance id perfection! From crazy Meme Elaine to ghost tours through the streets of NO, you will fall in love with Shae and Brady and root for their HEA. If you are looking for a hilarious and steamy read, this is worth a look.
Say You’ll Be Mine Say You’ll Be Mine (A NOLA Heart Novel Book 1) is sooo good. The characters are really well developed – I want to be friends with them. I love the NOLA setting! I think this is my favourite book by Maria Luis (so far 🙂 )
Say You’ll Be Mine (NOLA Hearts Book 1) by Maria Luis is a second chance, contemporary romance told in alternating POV. This is the first book I’ve read by this author, but it definitely will not be the last.
I really enjoyed the chemistry and banter between Brady and Shaelyn. The romance of finding their way back to each other was sweet, sexy and fun. There are several quirky characters and humorous moments. There’s also a light touch of suspense. The author did a fantastic job of seamlessly marrying these elements.
Such a cute and entertaining story! I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
