If you enjoy clean, sweet contemporary romances, check out this book by Heather B. Moore. The main characters are realistic and endearing and draw you right in with the obvious spark between them and their fun banter. I loved the way Dawson was so patient and gentlemanly with Clara. Although this is part of a series, I had no trouble reading it as a stand-alone book.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Say You Love Me (2018) by Heather B. Moore is the third book in her Pine Valley series. This book comes in all forms including eBook, and is 198 pages in length. With a full-time job and a busy six-year old, this book took me two days to read. I received a copy of this novel in eBook form from Mirror Press Publishing via Kathy at I Am a Reader. In no way has this influenced my opinion of the story. All opinions expressed in this review are my own. I give Say You Love Me 5 STARS. This book is a Contemporary Clean Romance.
Say You Love Me is a quick and easy read that warmed my heart! The characters are well written — especially Dawson. The plot is engaging. And, the romance definitely made my heart do flips quite a few times!
Dawson Harris is the hero of this novel, and he is my favorite character. Yes, he fits all the criteria of a stereotypical Romance hero — he is tall, handsome, built extremely well, employed, and highly intelligent. But, Dawson is so much more. What I really love about his character is how he treats Clara. Clara is reeling from an awful year of tragedy. Within one week she lost her beloved grandmother, her boyfriend of many years left her for someone else, and she lost her job as a kindergarten teacher. Her heart is tender to say the least. She is not looking for a boyfriend. She isn’t really looking for anyone or anything. She wants to hide. Dawson is instantly attracted to Clara, but understands that she needs to be treated with kid gloves. So, he legitimately befriends her. He listens to her. He takes her out on “friend” dates. He purposely buys a couple of girly novels so he can take part in what she likes. Most importantly, Dawson respects Clara and the boundaries she needs in order to heal. This fact alone is enough for me to adore his character. There is nothing more sexy than a man who truly respects a woman.
Another aspect that I appreciate about Dawson’s character is his ability to make changes when necessary. He can take criticism. I don’t know too many people who can take criticism. Most of the time, people react awfully to the critic, and rarely take to heart that there might actually be things they can change to make themselves better people. Dawson’s ex-wife does a really messed up thing to him. I won’t spill the beans…go read the book. Suffice it to say, it’s pretty rotten, and it hurt Dawson deeply. But, over time, Dawson realizes that he did make mistakes. He takes responsibility for those mistakes. And he does what he can to change some quirks and habits in order to become a better man. Not only does this make him an excellent fictional hero, but it’s a good reminder to me that there are plenty of things I can do to make myself a better wife, mother, teacher, friend, and daughter. I need to learn to better evaluate criticism for the truth within it and make necessary personal changes rather than immediately react with hurtful words in an attempt to mask any embarrassment or hurt feelings. For this reminder alone it was totally worth reading this book!
Overall, Say You Love Me is a really fun and quick read that I highly recommend. I enjoyed the relationship between Clara and Dawson. I loved their quick wit and banter. I loved their friendship. If you are looking for an enjoyable and satisfying read that will leave your heart happy then I absolutely recommend buying a copy of Say You Love Me today!
I loved this book – the characters, the story, the feelings, the emotions. Dawson and Clara are great! Separately and together. Some of their interactions just made me laugh. Clara was hesitant, but just couldn’t stay away from him. It was so cute! Dawson was understanding and didn’t push, but everything he did made his case. He was definitely a catch!
This is the third book in the series, but can be read alone.
I received a complimentary copy of the book, which I voluntarily reviewed. I have given my honest opinion.
Clara is both grieving over her grandmother and shaken by the betrayal of her boyfriend. In an effort to move on from her troubles, she relocates to Pine Valley where she starts working for Jeff Finch in his realty office. Little does she know that Jeff’s lawyer, who is fun to talk to on the phone, is so attractive in person. However, she’s determined to allow herself time to heal emotionally before getting involved with another man. But, will he wait for her?
Dawson Harris can’t deny his attraction to Clara. It even surprises himself, especially after his ex wife destroyed his ego with her list of his faults. But, as he gets to know Clara, he realizes that he can’t deny his emotions aren’t real. But, will she allow him into her life?
I enjoyed this book and absolutely loved Dawson. Clara did have some emotional baggage to deal with and I started to get a bit frustrated with her. But, at least she knew where to turn when she needed help. I also liked the theme of honesty and the many examples of where being completely honest is the best approach. Yet, there were examples where being honest, yet not saying everything was best too.
Even though Jeff Finch is mentioned in this book, no one else is. I would think that at least Alicia would be mentioned. And, although the ending is good, I would prefer a more definitive one with maybe an epilogue set a few months or a year later that shows all the characters from the series in their new relationships.

At my request, I was given a free copy of this audiobook from the author. I have voluntarily left my review and my opinions were my own.
Losing her fiancee, grandmother, and job all happened within a week and it is too much for poor Clara Benson to bear. It’s been seven months since her life has imploded and she is settling into her new life in Pine Valley. She had decided to not return to teaching and is working as an assistant for Jeff Finch, an up and coming realtor in the area, and is adjusting to her new normal.
Dawson Harris is also adjusting to a new way of life. It’s been over a year since his wife left him with only a note to explain why. Dawson is a successful lawyer, and just happens to be Jeff Finch’s lawyer. Being incredibly handsome, Dawson could have any woman that he wants but he is wanting something more.
Clara and Dawson meet in a yoga class after being acquaintances over the phone, Clara being the go between for Jeff and Dawson. Clara and Dawson’s attraction is immediate. Dawson wants to jump into a relationship with Clara with both feet but Clara is incredibly apprehensive and holds Dawson at arms length. Will Clara ever put her guard down and give Dawson her heart?
This is the question that plagues you as you read Say You Love Me. If you’ve been following my reviews for any length of time you know that I love Heather B. Moore’s writing style. Like the other books in the Pine Valley series, Say You Love Me is a quick, yet charming, read. Dawson is easy to fall in love with but I did find Clara a little annoying at times. Here she has a gorgeous man that is head over heels in love with her and she wants to play games with him? I can empathize with the fear that she felt giving her heart to another man after what she’d been through with her fiancee but to break off their entire relationship, and go from friendship to relationship and back seems a bit drastic.
All in all, I enjoyed Say You Love Me. The premise is sweet, the characters likable, the writing wonderful, and you gotta love a happy ending.
*I received a complimentary copy of this book from Mirror Press in exchange for an honest, unbiased review. All opinions are my own.
Loved it! Lots of sweet moments balanced with hesitation and angst, I was captivated by the pull between Dawson and Clara, and their struggle to cope with their issues while also not letting them prevent a future together. Dawson is not the typical leading man I prefer, but his vulnerability and eagerness to please Clara made him easy to like. They had great rapport and banter which I always love in contemporary romance! This book was a pleasure to read and made me look forward to the next book in the Pine Valley series. A perfect beach read for the summer at a great price!
