Many believed he didn’t possess a heart. Not true. It was just hidden beneath a layer of protection so deep no one would ever penetrate it. Until her.Aspen.Sweet. Innocent. Beautiful. And not the woman for him. Despite his reputation, Joel Saxon wasn’t in the habit of corrupting innocents. Especially when she had no clue about the dark desires he possessed. Of how much control he would want over … Of how much control he would want over her life. Of what he would demand, possess, claim…
If she was his.
Aspen had been kicked down so many times, she wondered how she found the energy to get back up. The only light in her life were her little boys. They kept her going. They were all she had time for. All she needed or wanted …
So then why couldn’t she get the enigmatic, sexy, dominant Saxon out of her mind? Why did she wake in the middle of the night with dreams of him touching her, taking her…
Loving her.
Impossible.

Saxon’s Soul is a luscious adventure. What a wonderful dom Saxon has everyone fool. He has a very gentle touch. I really enjoyed the way Saxon introduced Aspen to BDSM. They gave us a seductive tale of control and surrender Author Laylah Roberts is a master at creating steamy and heartwarming stories.
I started this story and immediately felt badly for Aspen. When Saxon entered the picture, all I could think was please help this woman. Then I discovered she had 6 month old twins and a craptastic mother.
This is Joel and Aspen’s story. It seems as though these books can be read as stand-alones. There were some references to other couples, but not knowing their backstory did not take away from this book.
Aspen stood on her own because she had no expectations that anyone would help her. Leaning on Saxon was one of the hardest things she had to do. Saxon helping her take care of her babies was the sweetest thing.
Saxon owned the BDSM club in Haven, and it was based on a community that supported different lifestyles. Aaron’s accidental entry into Saxon’s life served to break down his walls.
This book took a turn toward the end when it introduce some intrigue that in which Saxon was involved, as well as some intrigue involving Aspen. She really got to see the town pull together.
This series has a lighter BDSM element and is more focused on the romance, sense of acceptance, sense of community, and desire to help lost souls.
This is a beautiful story that you won’t want to miss. I smiled from the beginning until the end. OMG Saxon is perfect and Renard is just a hoot. Aspen is a great mom who tries so hard to take care of everyone except herself. She needed Saxon. A story that you won’t want to put down.
I have to say I have never read any of the other Haven, Texas series before so Saxon’s Soul was my very first one. It did not disappoint. Although I did not have a backstory of the other characters I didn’t feel like I was missing anything, this was a story about Joel and Aspen and their romance.
I will have to pick up the other books to catch up and then continue on. You have a lifetime reader now!
I have loved this whole series. We have gotten to see bits of Saxon throughout the series so it was nice to finally have a book featuring him. He makes a great hero. Aspen is an amazing character. She has a lot of strength to survive everything in her life. Saxon and Aspen make a great pair and I really enjoyed their story.
Saxon’s Soul is the fifth book in the Haven, Texas series, but can be read as a stand alone. When Saxon sees Aspen in trouble, he rushes in to help, and fixes things as he sees fit. Aspen, used to taking care of herself since she was a child, is shocked to find she’s drawn the attention of Saxon, and he seems genuinely interested in her and her boys. When her world starts to fall apart, Saxon is there to step in, if only she will follow his rules. Aspen unlocks a side of Saxon that few have seen before, but when emotions are mixed into their arrangement, will she get burned?
Oh. My. Goodness! If I could give a book more than five stars, I totally would win this book! Saxon and Aspen have won my heart! I have been looking at this series for a while now, and I’m so happy that I finally started with this book! Now I will be going back and starting from the beginning, but I loved that I never felt lost while reading this book. Saxon, oh Saxon, he captured my heart right from the very beginning! I loved how protective he was of Aspen and her boys, I loved how quickly he just inserted himself into their lives, and I loved his passion, patience, and dominance! Aspen was so independent, strong, but missing so much from her life, like comfort, security, and love. Those boys meant absolutely everything to her, but I loved that this town, her friendships, and Saxon slowly entered her heart, too! I loved watching her go from timid and shy to a protective bear at other times, and I loved watching her acceptance of help from friends shine through. This book was just lovely! I definitely teared up a few times, my heart was overflowing, and I loved some of the background drama going on, too! I loved it!
I loved this story!! Aspen deserved more than life was giving her. She had a horrible mother and was single with twin six months old boys. So the universe decided she should get Joel Saxon into her life. It’s a great story from there and all points in between. I love Haven!!
Good read. Received as an ARC, Would definitely recommend.
I am volunteering to leave a review of this ARC book. My second book by Ms. Roberts. Aspen is a waitress, raising her twin boys in a diner in Haven Texas. Joel is the owner of the BDSM club in town. She is definitely attracted to him, and he’s attracted to her. He’s afraid she won’t be able to deal with his lifestyle, she’s an innocent. She dreams about him, naughty dreams! Ms. Roberts drew me into the lives of Saxon and Aspen. I was a goner from the beginning of the book. I had fingers and toes crossed for an HEA! I will be going back to read the series!
Heartwarming BDSM romance
I have read Laylah Roberts other series but somehow have missed the Haven, Texas series. After reading Saxon’s Soul the 5th book in the series, which worked well as a stand alone, I definitely will be picking up the previous books in this series. I loved Aspen and Saxon(Joel) together as a couple as they had extraordinary chemistry, and babies Jamie and Caleb were so cute. I felt the plot moved well and I enjoyed how Aspen opened herself up to BDSM and how they both opened to the possibilities of love.
I received an advance readers copy.
This is a beautifully written story and I was drawn in from the beginning. Jason didn’t want a wife or kids but he felt a draw to Aspen. He wanted to protect her and her kids so that just didn’t make sense to him. Aspen doesn’t know how she gets through the day because she has had so many disappointments in her life but she has to for her twin boys. They are the light of her life and everything she needs or wants but she can’t get the dominant Jason Saxon out of her head. Can Jason prove to her that he is not going to abandon her like everyone else in her life? Will Aspen succumb to his dark desires? I highly recommend this book!
Loved the story of Jason and Aspen and how he never wanted a wife nor family and how she was always looking to be left again. The Dom in Jason caused him to want to protect her and her twin babies and along the way he realized he loved them and wanted them in his life. Aspen has a hard time accepting the fact that he is not going to leave her like everyone else has. There are a few other side stories in this book and it makes for a good and interesting read. I would highly recommend this as a great read.
