Man, talk about a walk on the wild side. A whirlwind of emotions and events that pulls at those heartstrings and on the razors edge. This is one exciting, action packed, hard hitting, fast paced, nailbiting, pulse racing, heart pounding, page turning bombshell that captivates from start to finish. All the twists and turns, ups and downs, ins and outs, along with a few dips and bumps make for one thrilling experience. All the drama, uncertainty, fear, danger and suspense increases while tension spirals. The characters are written with such realism it really pulls this bad boy together beautifully. The scenes are so realistic and graphically detailed it’s easy to picture each scenario as it plays off one another in perfect sync. Meg did a remarkable job bringing this read to life. Fantastic job Meg, thanks for sharing.
arc review I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. This is a story of Madelyn and Jillian are students on a dig for school at big bend national park with Sawyer a ranger. What a awsome story of love and discovery.
An action-packed and engaging read
Madelyn, an archeology master’s student, gets to her latest dig site where Sawyer, a werebear park ranger, has to oversee the dig due to a scheduling mixup. As the story progresses secrets must remain hidden, obstacles prevent their relationship and following your heart could set you free. Meg Ripley has provided an action-packed and engaging read for her first book in the Werebears of Big Bend.

The great character and plot development kept me totally glued to my kindle throughout the entire book! I always look forward to reading more from this author!
Madelyn has finished her Master’s thesis on palaeontology and is now at Big Bend National Park and it’s there that she meets the gorgeous Ranger, Sawyer, who will help her with her dig. Now Sawyer is so much more than she expects and he has been waiting for his mate for so long that it’s almost as if he has given up all hope. But then Madelyn is before him and the sizzling chemistry between them cannot be mistaken by him as anything less than the fated mate bond. How’s he going to explain it to her and will she be receptive? Plus with everything else going on will that get in the way of their HEA? This is the latest paranormal romance by the best selling author, Meg Ripley who really knows how to draw the reader into her storylines and maintain their attention throughout the book. With fabulous likeable characters such as Sawyer and Madelyn who were just perfect together and a storyline that kept me turning page after page till I’d reached the conclusion. Such a wonderful romance! This is the first book in the Shifter Nation: Werebears Of Big Bend Series and I am really looking forward with anticipation for the rest of the series. This is a fun supernatural romance and I was hooked from the beginning. The connection between Madelyn and Sawyer kept me reading and wanting to know what came next! The plot and characters are well developed, and the pace is relatively fast, which is appropriate for this type of story. Some twists and turns, ups and downs, humour, and witty banter added to the overall excitement of the story. Sex scenes are steamy and well written. Definitely recommended!

A paleontology student “Madelyn”, was paired on a dig with “Julia”. Usually students of the same sex are paired up to prevent distractions but, the application for the dig had left off the last letter of the first name. Julian was her partner for the dig and he has every intention of being her partner in all ways. Madelyn was dismayed as he keeps making advances despite her continued rejections. Avoiding him becomes a distraction itself! Madelyn has to find “something” on this dig and can’t afford any distractions. Yet, she arrives at the park and feels an immediate pull towards a ranger! Oh no, what’s a girl to do? You need to read this to find out. This book is an enjoyable quick read and the author has created dialogue in such a way that you have the ability to feel the intense emotions on this dig. I deducted one star only due to having read a similar plot line previously.

Excellent and entertaining

I liked this book. It’s plot was unusual for shifter romance and informative. Having been a archeology student I found the setting of the book very interesting. Like all of the books I’ve read by Meg Ripley I enjoyed it, her books are not only entertaining but informative. I do recommend this for others to read for your enjoyment, it has something for every reader whether you are interested in dinosaurs, fossils, shifters or rare birds.
I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I really loved this book. I liked that there was a mystery between Sawyer and Madelyn about if they were shifter’s. I liked that Madelyn had something she wanted to accomplish and she did her best to make that happen. Sawyer was alpha and also great at giving Madelyn what she needed. I am glad that Julian didn’t win. I am also glad that Madelyn finally listened to her sister and went to Sawyer. This was a great book and I will definitely be reading it again.

Sawyer a warden is tasked to taking out two female paleantologists for a dog for several months. What he doesn’t realise is that Madelyn is one but Julian, a male is another. As Julian makes unwanted advances towards Madelyn, Sawyers heart yearns for her as they start a relationship. Things get worse as Julian attacks Madelyn but what will happen to her? A great read with my favourite shifters. Love the characters and the over whelming feeling of wanting to punch Julian was strong. Can’t wait for any other books in this series.
I could not have asked for anything more from this book. The characters were fantastic. They had charisma and tonnes of spark and the relationship that develops between Sawyer and Madelyn is everything that you have come to expect from this author and more. The story is heartwarming, emotion driven with Madelyn having to make a decision that will change the course of her life irrevocably and a couple of little surprises that will keep you glued to the pages.

There are a few things you can count on in life: death, tax – and I would add – Meg Ripley. This book, Sawyer’s Mate is a first class shifter romance. Sawyer and Madelyn are fabulous characters and have great depth. The plot is strong and, although formulary (characters meet, fall in love and have HEA ending), the writing does more than express these actions. There is the ultimate villain and good overcomes evil. This is a quick read and is fairly clean. There are some mild sex scenes and a little adult language. Overall, a book to enjoy for a few hours.

Madelyn Sutton has a plan to finish her degree in Paleontology with a dig in Big Bend National Park and return home in New Hampshire. She doesn’t have the time or patience to deal with her dig partner’s annoying flirtations. Then she meets Park Ranger Sawyer Montgomery. Although she doesn’t need any distractions, she can’t deny their mutual attraction. Neither do they realize the danger looming nearby. I recommend your reading Sawyer’s Mate to find out what twist of fate happens next.

She comes to Big Bend, Texas to do her thesis for her degree in paleontology. She ends up with first class accommodations. It ends up the other person who is supposed to be there ends up a man and not a woman like they thought. Sawyer is the park ranger there. His bear recognizes her as his mate. But they have a lot against them. She is from some where else and has family and friends there. He has family and friends there. The other guy is a flirt and pain and won’t listen when told to stop. There is a mess and who comes out on top and with the girl? I was given a review copy by booksprout and voluntarily review it.

Madelyn Sutton arrived at the hotel in Big Bend, Texas, with more bags than usual since she would be staying here through the semester as she earned her degree in paleontology and ‘unearthed’ a topic for her master’s thesis. The accommodations here were first-class, as promised. She hadn’t met her new partner yet, and was looking forward to meeting her and having someone to hang out with.
Someone knocked on her door with a confused look on his face. Through some mix-up, he was assigned as her partner and would be staying across the hall! She wasn’t sure she wanted a male partner and determined to get this resolved. Unfortunately, all the assignments were made and no one would be available until the following semester! She would just have to stay professional.
Sawyer Montgomery managed one of the small ranger stations. He looked at the day’s work and saw that two university women from Harvard were coming to prepare for a paleontological dig at the park. He tried getting a female ranger so they would feel more comfortable, but no one was available. To his surprise, the woman caught his bear’s attention right away. But the other person was male, introducing himself as Julian Kensington the fourth. They all went over to the dig site. Madelyn oddly felt very drawn to the handsome ranger, but the whining pretentious jerk Julian was definitely not going to be a distraction. Despite being asked to stop the annoying flirting, he continues to be obnoxious until Sawyer tells him to act like a gentleman.
As their chemistry is already explosive, the feelings between them deepen. Sawyer’s devotion is to the park, his family, and his friends. As a bear shifter, he’s right where he belongs. Madelyn is from New England, has a loving family, and is almost ready to live her own dream after graduation. Would one or the other be willing to sacrifice what’s important to them to be together? Or will they go their separate ways when the dig is completed and Madelyn returns to school to graduate?
I enjoy this author’s books very much. They are well-written and the story just flows smoothly. A gentle sense of humor and lots of surprises keep things moving along. The characters are described in such a way that the reader really gets to know them, both the good things and the annoying quirks! The story line is believable and the dig for fossils and such kept this reader’s attention (yes, I am a science nerd). Having Julian as a distraction to us all was a fun addition! Grab your copy and see how the project progresses and who wins a HEA – or heartbreak?
The beginning of a new series called Werebears of Big Bend and I know I want to read the next book. A well written story that held my interest throughout. Madelyn and Sawyer are a couple that should not have come together under normal circumstances but fate meant them to meet. I would like to say that I absolutely loved this book. I loved Sawyer and his family (from what little info we got). I liked that it takes place in Texas and that it is a shifter story. Unfortunately I can only say that I thought that it was only good.
From the get go the story doesn’t have a very good flow, it eventually gets better, but it’s bad enough that I found it hard to read. It finally got better except for one conversation where it felt like the characters were replaced by someone younger. It just didn’t feel right.
Another thing is that there is a character that is introduced that the reader is apparently supposed to hate almost instantly. Sawyer and Madelyn both reacted negatively almost right away. I didn’t get that feeling until later on in the story. The character I’m talking about is also there just to move the story along, which is okay I guess, but it’s they didn’t really feel a part of the story otherwise.
One last thing I didn’t like was Madelyn’s belief that she can’t (not ‘doesn’t want to’) have a relationship until after college. At first I understood and even liked it. But, eventually it got old and it seemed that she thought the world would end. Her entire situation got old very quickly.
Overall Sawyer barely salvaged this book for me (that and fossils).

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Well, nothing is what it seems. Madelyn is out in Texas for some digging to get her thesis for Harvard done. Unfortunately she’s teamed up with a Fund-brat she doesn’t seem to be able to escape from. Luckily Sawyer’s always there to keep her company. But when there’s a incident truths are revealed and decissions have to be made. A nice story to r ad through.
Her life is all planned out until she meets him. He is to be her protector while at her dig. Things are not going to be so easy as he knows she is his mate. Can he show her that? Will they have a great time? See what will happen
