Taking a Risk on Love
Ariella Talix is a masterful storyteller who creates delightful tales filled with artistic individuals whose lives are both interesting and adventurous. Centered in Louisville, Kentucky, but with international connections, Talix weaves her magic introducing the reader to relationships filled with love.
Thirty-three-year-old Halden Dahl has grown up in a creative family. His parents, transplants to Kentucky, share Scandinavian roots with their children whose American life experience is that of so many Americans with family customs and traditions, language and food being a fusion of another land, making it truly American. With a brother who is a writer and a sister who is a musician, Halden’s pathway of self-expression also reveals a creative vision of life as a artist of glass—blown, molded or pieced—Halden’s world is one of color and fragility, always with the possibility of sharp, cutting edges.
Madison Lassiter who grew up in Honeybee Hollow, Kentucky grew up in a loving and grounded family who supported their daughter’s creative dream of becoming milliner. Her passion for hats—confections to wear on the head—the fascinators of the Derby and of royalty, led her to start her own hat designing and crafting business, marketing her confections online. Creating a hat factory in her hometown, an act that helped support the economy of the small Kentucky town after another larger factory shut down, she has proven herself to be a sharp business woman who works to better the work environment and lives of her employees. Now, seeking to open a brick and mortar store, she has found her perfect marketing niche among the boutiques of Louisville.
When Halden’s brother Gunner and Gunner’s wife, Åse, who happens to be owner of one of the neighboring boutiques near Madison Hatter—the milliner shop owned by Madison—invite Madison to their pool party, it is clear that fate is not the only thing at work in the introduction of Halden to Louisville’s newest business woman. But, while being intrigued by Halden, Madison is wary. Handsome and charming, talented and creative, he is a risk-taker, a dare-devil who, when not crafting magic out of glass, lives for the thrill of the moment. Madison is goal oriented; a small-town girl who has had one dream since childhood—to make hats and is now making those dreams come true. But, she had another dream from childhood—to find happiness with the her first love, a careless man-child who made promises and then who betrayed her love. So, while both are physically drawn and impressed by the other, love seems more of a dream than a real possibility for Madison and Halden.
The reader will enjoy the logical crafting of the plot, the inventiveness of the storyline and the freshness of the characters as they interact as mature adults who know themselves and trust each other. The values of family and friendships are central, creating a strong support system for the primary characters. Since reading my first Talix novel, I have eagerly awaited each new romance with its delightful characters and engaging tales of love, and this one does not disappoint!
I received a free ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review, but I have acquired the work from Kindle Unlimited to taste again in the future.

Such an amazing story and so well written I was hooked from the start and couldn’t put it down! The chemistry between Madison and Halden was HOT and made me want to keep reading till the end!! I can’t wait to see what comes next from this author!!
Halden is a glass artist that likes to have fun but knows what he wants. Madison has her own business and is opening a new shop that takes all her time and focus. When they meet, Halden immediately knows that he is interested, but Madison has heard about Halden’s reputation and is a bit wary. What follows is a sweet love story that shows that the right person can make you stronger, can calm you down or can push you to take a risk. A really enjoyable read.
I received a free copy of this book and this is my honest review.
The storyline was well written and the characters were so well created that I was hooked from the very first page! The chemistry between Halden and Madison was off the charts HOT which made it very difficult to put this book down!
A great read with all the feels…
The blurb & previous reviews have outlined the story so I won’t. What I must mention is that this was a flawless, well crafted & engaging story that had a little bit of everything, drama, danger, ambition, sense of family & toe curling sexy scenes, phew! I liked the main characters & smiled at the mention of the Porters, my first book by this talented author. I stumbled on an arc on Booksprout & this is my honest & voluntary review. Highly recommended.
Halden is a charmer who lives for taking risks and walking on the wild side whenever he can. Even his career as a artistic glassblower is intense and adventurous, routinely taking him around the world. When he spots Madison at a party he is instantly smitten. She is a talented and creative milliner with a passion for creating beautiful hats. She is a hard-working and successful businesswoman, but is somewhat inexperienced about relationships, having been badly burned in the only serious one she ever had.
These two bring out the best in one another. He encourages and emboldens her, while her presence makes him see that his priorities like are changing. This story is full of twists and turns, unexpected happenings, charming and fun banter, and a sprinkling of hot moments. It was a very satisfying read with a wonderful epilogue.
I could not put this book down. I enjoyed the character development the author put into all the characters. And I loved the happy ending. I knew it was coming but it still surprised me.

They had great chemistry and I could feel their passion as I was reading the book. I could not put it down. I had to know what was going to happen next and how the story would end. It was steamy and sexy. I can’t wait to read more of her books.
Loved Halden and Madison’ story. Madison is a successful business owner and Halden is a world renowned glass artist. Reconciling their individual lifestyles and personal needs makes a great story. I highly recommend this book.

The feel good factor is like someone putting thir arms around you, so warm and cosy, beautiful. I voluntarily reviewed this book
Halden and Madison’s story is one steamy story with lots of twists, surprises, turmoil and explosive chemistry. He’s a total ladies man and a risk taker while she’s serious and laser focused on her business. They’re opposites in many ways but there’s no denying their attraction to each other. This is part of the Lovers In Louisville Series and is a great addition to the series. They both have artistic careers in that he’s a world renown glass artist and she has a business that makes incredible hats that sells for thousands. The likes of which you see at Ascot and the Derby. The characters are so easy to like and both have mild manner. And the wonders of Marta’s soup help make a wedding possible Well written and easy to read. A cute ending. I read an arc an voluntarily chose to review.
The plot has been summarized elsewhere. I fell in love with the writing style of Ariella Talix after I read her first novel Make Believe. Ever since that book I have read everything that she has published. I am not normally a reader of romance but I LOVE the detail and love that she gives her characters. They are totally relatable and the struggles are not far fetched to the point where the stories are unbelievable which I think is important in this genre of writing.
In this novel I love that there is an adrenaline junkie who wants to settle down with a successful, responsible, self made woman. You have to read the book to find out if he can even persuade Madison to even date him and ultimately if he will be tamed by a real southern lady.
