Recieved an advanced copy in exchange for a honest review.
This is the first part of Luca and Penny’s story. Its part of the Hunting Her series.
To fully follow the story I highly recommend reading the other books in the series, especially Torians book as this book starts part way through Torians story but told from Luca and Penny’s point of view.
Penny has been kidnapped and Luca is a big part of her and other women’s rescue.
Penny is….. I don’t know , emotionally and physically damaged, to say the least. She doesn’t know who to believe, what to believe, IF she can believe! But underneath all the turmoil, shes still got a caring side, shes taken on caring as best she can for the other women who have been kidnapped and shes a mother figure to Tobias. She cares deeply for them all.
Luca is her knight in shining armour, he tries every way he can to show her shes free, to help her come to terms with what has happened to her.
I dont think he fully understands himself why hes so devoted to helping her.
This book had me in tears long before I was half way through it, Penny’s character is so well written, I felt like I was reading a real person’s story of survival. I was pulled right into their lives, feeling their raw emotions. Absolutely recommend reading this book, cant rate it highly enough!
I have to say first that I have never read a book by this author that wasn’t very well written and just a really good story no matter what the subject. The same can be said for Savior. It’s very a emotional and thrilling read. The character Penny’s story was heartbreaking but what a tough cookie! A definite survivor! Luca had strength and empathy to know when to push and when not to… I recommend this book and can’t wait until the next!!!!
Oh my word! Such a beautiful, steamy and enthralling book that has bewitched me from the very beginning. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to everyone!
I voluntarily submitted an ARC review for this book.
I feel like I have been waiting for Luca and Penny’s book forever, and I’m so glad I finally get to read it, even if it is only half of their story.
This was overall a good book. I loved Luca, like I have in the previous books, and I’m warming up to Penny too. I know she went through a lot so at times her attitude and reactions can be a bit unwarranted or unexpected, but I also understand why she would act a certain way. They don’t really have chemistry that I can see yet, but I’m not going to judge their romance based on this book yet because she has been through a lot and can’t even think about anything in the romantic nature. So I am looking forward to what is to come in their next story, and how Luca will help her overcome things that have happened to her.
I’m also super happy to see some of the side characters such as my bae Hunter, and Cole who I am still highly anticipating the rest of his story. I like seeing Decker and Keira more too, but I miss Sarah. This book almost makes me want to go back and revisit all of their stories again.
Overall this was an enjoyable book. There was very little, if any, romance, seeing as it’s only the beginning of their story. Nothing really happened in this book either that couldn’t be just mentioned, but I get the author probably wants us to have the full experience of how Penny and Luca meet and the beginning of the end of Luther’s empire, so I’m feeling like this is almost a prequel to Luca and Penny’s actual story. Either way though I’m still really excited to read their next book and what is to come with them.
4.25 stars–SAVIOR is the fourth instalment in Eden Summers’ contemporary, adult HUNTING HER dark, erotic, romantic suspense series, and part one of Penny Decker and ex Navy SEAL Luca’s duet that follows the rescue of Penny Decker, and the take down of a sexual trafficking ring. SAVIOR can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading the series in order for back story, history and cohesion as there is an interconnected plot line throughout.
NOTE: SAVIOR contains scenes that may be triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Penny and Luca) SAVIOR focuses on the rescue of Penny Decker, the sister of Sebastian Decker, and the woman with whom Luca will fall in love. Eighteen months earlier Penny Decker disappeared and has been held captive in Greece, as a sexual slave along with several other women, by crime lord Luther Torian. Luther Torian is the estranged father of Cole Torian (Torian #3) and Keira Torian (Decker #2), and as such the siblings know a thing or two about the need to take down their father and the men he has working and controlling his business.
Penny Decker is a strong willed young woman but a woman left vulnerable by the abuse and torture by Luther Torian. With the arrival of her would-be rescuers Penny struggles with issues of trust, PTSD, and the knowledge that abusers hide behind secrets and lies. Believing herself broken, and an embarrassment to her family, Penny is reluctant to leave the hellhole she has called her prison for eighteen months. Luca’s assignment, along with the other members of the team, is to find Penny Decker, and take down the man responsible for destroying so many lives but Luca never expected to come face to face with a woman that would call to his heart.
The relationship between Luca and Penny is that of victim and rescuer; an immediate attraction that does not go unnoticed by Penny’s brother Sebastian Decker. There is no romance or love, there is only the knowledge that Penny and the other women have been defenceless against a monster who will stop at nothing to get what he wants.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters including Cole Torian and Anissa Fox, Sebastian Decker and Keira Torian, Luke Hunter, Cole and Keira’s half-brother Tobias, their father Luther Torian; several other captive women, and the men who live to torture and abuse.
SAVIOR is a dark, gritty and raw story of betrayal and vengeance, and the dysfunctional dynamics of the Torian family, and the legacy imparted to the vulnerable heirs. The premise is heart breaking and astonishing; the characters are broken but strong, tragic yet impassioned.
Although Savior is a part of a duet and book 4 Hunting Her Series, you could read as a standalone book. I believe that after reading you are going to want to devour the entire series from the start to learn more about the characters involved.
Penny and Luca are the main characters in this book and it will leave you captivated by the strength of Penny in face of such depraved heartbreaking treatment and the lengths she goes to protect those around her.
Even though this is the first book in the duet you will not be left hanging too much. I can’t wait to read more about Luca’s character oh and Penny but seriously more about Luca
I’ve been patient while waiting for this book and it was worth it! This book picks up close to the end of the last one in the series, Torian. This is Penny’s and Luca’s point of view. I did feel a bit uncomfortable with some of the scenes where you hear of the abuse the trafficked women have endured but Eden does a great job and is not too graphic with the storytelling. I am curious how Penny will get past her abuse and be able to live a somewhat normal life. Even though I know Luca is a bad guy, I am rooting for him and Penny and hopeful that things will work out for them in the next book. I received an advance copy of this book from the author and this is my honest opinion and voluntary review.
Penny and Luca! OMG… these two?!… Just wow.
After finding out they were going to get their own story and then going into this book, I didn’t realise how much I needed a Penny and Luca story and I’m so glad there’ll be more! Yay! I couldn’t wait to get more of them as soon as I got stuck in to Savior. This book pulled me in and I had no choice but to go along this journey with them and I absolutely loved it. It was a rollercoaster of emotions and my heart just broke for Penny and everything she was/is going through.
I loved the way the story started and especially where it started from Penny’s POV, I loved getting to know what happened at that point from another character and what she had to endure. Then along came Luca. I absolutely loved the connection they shared right from the first moment they met. I loved seeing the stubborn sides both had and the protectiveness Luca had within him, I really loved how neither of them gave up and I can’t wait to see more of that.
An amazing job done by Eden, I’m itching to get my hands on the second book to Penny and Luca’s story.
Devoured this.
Like in 1 big bite!
Flipping loved so much about this!
First off. Luca! I mean. He’s the literal most awesome bestest ever…
Secondly… Penny!! Eeppp! She’s a seriously bada** chic. To put Up with what she’s been through. And still put everyone else, in her chosen family, first. I’m in awe of this characters.
Make no mistake. This is a hard book at time. It deals with sex trafficking and sexual abuse. It’s handled well!! Awesome plot.
Believable, well thought out characters.
Cannot wait for the conclusion, Luca… Due out by fall 2020!
If you are looking for an emotional, anti-hero saves the day, while the chica is a bada**, this is the book for you!
Eden Summers
This book overlaps withTorian, but we get the series of events from a completely different POV: Penny. Like the others in this series, Savior sucked me right in. This one is a touch darker than Torian and filled with a heavy amount of angst and tension. Penny’s character is a delicate mix of vulnerability and strength that somehow Luca is able to recognize. At some points it was difficult to read exactly what Penny and the other girls endured. Each book in the series moves at a fast pace, Savior was no exception. The plot keeps moving with very little lagging. Technically, it ends on a cliffhanger, but it’s not unbearable. There is still a lot of story for Luca and Penny.
Just wow! The Hunting Her series is full of super hot and strong men, and the heroines are bad a$$, but the book Savior gives new meaning to a strong woman. The reality of what Penny has lived during her captivity brings to life a world no one ever wants to know. She’s strong, but broken, and I can’t wait to see how the story ends. My heart broke with each realization of what she survived, but I also admired her strength. Such a great story and one I’m super excited For the next installment. I received an advanced copy for an honest review.
This series just keeps getting better and better. Luca and Penny’s story stirred up so many different emotions. Penny’s past is horrific. She was kidnapped from her family and has spent her days and nights being tortured and humiliated by an evil dictator. The interactions between Penny and Luca are raw and real. Penny’s uncertainty in a future she’s terrified to hope in pulls at my heart strings. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
Oh wow! This fast-paced romantic suspense draws you in right from the beginning and you won’t want to put it down once you crack open the first pages. After all, it is impossible to not forgo sleep when one is completely enthralled with an enticing plot and captivating characters. Be prepared for a rollercoaster ride of heart stopping action, gripping suspense, and a story that is sure to pull at your heartstrings.
For those of you who have read Torian, Savior picks up towards the last few scenes in Torian only this time we get it from Luca’s and Penny’s perspectives. Penny’s story is heartbreaking. A broken heroine, one cannot help but admire her resilience and inner strength. I loved Luca. He is protective and really connects with Penny. The book does end on cliffhanger and I cannot wait to see how the rest of the story unfolds.
Savior is the first book in their duet and is book 4 in the Hunting Her series. In theory, you could read this book as a standalone although I highly recommend starting at the beginning of the series as the stories are interconnected and there is character overlap.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
Penny is as much a ghost to herself as she is to her family and the rest of the world. Stuck, forced to live on an island far away from home, her dreams and hopes non-existent, as she resolves herself to a life with the devil, Luther Torian.
Penny takes care of the other girls Luther has collected as his personal playthings, on their way to be sold to the highest bidder or put out to work for him as slaves. She hasn’t given up, as most of the girls have. Penny is a fighter and she’ll fight until her last breath.
Luca works for Cole, Luther’s son. Penny doesn’t know much about Cole, but really how far can the apple fall from a tree like Luther? Not far enough. Penny was way wrong. Luca instantly becomes Penny’s biggest supporter and appoints himself her protector. He knows her backstory and while learning about her ordeal with Luther, he becomes obsessed with revenge. He needs to keep her safe no matter what.
Cole is nothing like his father. Cole and Luca are here to take him down and finding Penny was something they never imagined possible. Decker would agree. Decker isn’t someone Penny remembers anymore. She has no family, no friends, no past. All she has is now and now is looking pretty dim and her future isn’t looking any better. If only she could trust the guy who keeps giving her hope, her new protector, the only man that has made her feel safe. Maybe Luca would see the woman behind the shame and hurt and heal her.
WOW, THIS BOOK ! EMOTIONAL, HEARTBREAKING AND HOPEFUL, ALL AT THE SAME TIME ! THIS SERIES IS ADDICTIVE. THE CHARACTERS ARE COMPLICATED AND NOT AT ALL WHAT THEY SEEM. GREAT READ ! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SERIES ! ! !
Wow! This book grabs you from the start and you can’t let go. It’s full of suspense and kept me on the edge of my seat. I love these characters and and can’t wait to find out more in the next book!
I read the ARC of the upcoming release of Savior.
I loved the first 2 books in the series but Torians story let me down quite alot. It just was not the same. So when Savior was due to come out i was very excited hoping it would go back to the style of writing Hunter and Decker was.
The storyline was great i loved that part of the book but I feel the story ended on quite a big hanger like Torian. I understand the author had quite abit going on so this is why. for me If you have any abuse triggers do not read this book but otherwise I’m sure you’ll fall in love with her series.
