He bought me, but not to touch or taste. He bought me to save me, and to atone for past sins.Handsome and mysterious, he swoops in to offer me a new life, but this is no knight in shining armor. He’s cold, hardened by his past. But there’s an inferno underneath the ice, I can feel the heat each time he looks at me—each time he gives in to the desire between us.No matter how much I push to unleash … much I push to unleash the fire in his eyes, he shoves back harder each time. He’s merciless with his cruel words, telling me how naive I am, how little I know of the world.
But I’m stronger than he thinks.
When we face down our demons from the past, I’ll prove which one of us was in need of saving, and which one of us is the savior.

Get ready to meet your new favorite ALPHAHOLE!
Desperation leads people to make desperate decisions. When you have nowhere else to go, no food, no money…you make the only decision you can. Alexandra had no one to turn to. She only had herself to depend on. So she made a tough choice and is now sacrificing part of herself to survive.
Erik is the guy who is going to save her from herself. He has his own secrets and his own ghosts. His heart is in the right place, but his methods are questionable.
He is all about rescuing Alexandra and giving her the hand up that she needs to pursue her dream and succeed. The only problem is their undeniable attraction. However, Erik knows the kind of man that he is and needs to stay away from her. And he’ll go to any lengths to make that happen.
This story is super hot and steamy! I am a total sucker for an alphahole and Erik definitely filled those shoes! You are going to LOVE him!
Take one desperate, young virgin and one over the top, overprotective alpha male and what you get is the story of Erik and Alexandra in Savior. This book is set in the Voyeur world but is a complete standalone. There is hot sexual chemistry and a connection between Erik and Alexandra but certain internal forces keep or try to keep him from her. But being the broody alpha he is, he tries every trick in the book to push her away, and Alex is one strong young lady that does her best to put him in his place. If you love an age-gap romance with the alpha being the bad guy and a young female that stands up for herself then you will love this book. Can’t wait to read more from this author and this world.
Savior is yet another incredible story in the Voyeur world that Fiona Cole has masterfully created. Not only is the story rich with a passion that manages to ignite even the hardened of hearts, but it has additional layers that both intrigued me and kept me completely enraptured with each turn of the page. I didn’t know what to expect, except that I would undoubtedly be extremely satisfied at the book’s end. And I am.
Erik and Alexandra. Mr. E and Snow White. Never in a million years should their paths have crossed. But when a 19 year old girl is desperate enough to do whatever it takes to simply live, sometimes she gets more than she had ever bargained for and lucky enough for Alexandra, she got Erik. And all the cocky, hurtful ways he tries to dissuade her from seeing him as her savior only pushes both of them to fall for the other even more. And I was here, up close and personal, getting to savor every intense moment. And oh wow, there were plenty. But I just loved that Alexandra was the first woman who didn’t take any nonsense from the self-assured Mr. Brandt, making him squirm with her innocent ways. The poor man didn’t even know what hit him until it was too late and their lives were forever intertwined. Forever changed. And most importantly, they may have just found their own forever.
What is so different about this story and how it stands out even just among this incredible series so far, is that not only do we get insanely erotic scenes that is an alluring and welcomed feature of the Voyeur world, but that Cole also created a dramatic underlying storyline that ties in perfectly with part of Alexandra’s former life and the way she initially met Erik. Not to mention his own haunted history and how he has felt a clinging guilt for what had happened to a beloved family member. It’s a subject matter that deserves attention and the way it plays out in this book is impeccably executed. It’s never too heavy, thank goodness, but is a great way for our couple to strengthen their bond in the most surprisingly of ways.
I loved Erik and his no nonsense attitude. I loved how he couldn’t resist Alexandra even as he was trying his hardest to screw her out of his mind with other women. I loved watching as he lost control but found happiness and a lighter way about him, just by loving the girl who managed to crawl inside his heart.
The alternating POVs made this story complete for me. I feel as if I got the whole story. The whys of Erik’s actions and the way they made Alexandra feel. Her indecision and lack of experience. And his admiration and hope that he was doing the right thing.
Erik and Alexandra found the Savior in the other and I enjoyed every minute of their unexpected love story. This book has a charm I have come to cherish wrt Fiona Cole’s work, even with mayhem and even a certain amount of danger at hand. The steam is always on full-throttle and it drives me out of my mind in the very best way!!
With cameos from previous books that adds just the right touch, I can’t get enough of this Voyeur world, looking forward to Ian’s story next. That jaw dropping last few lines were enough to whet my appetite for more of this well-written naughty once again.
I happily give Savior a huge 5 stars!
The beauty that Fiona Cole brings out of a story with such dark aspects continues to surprise me…although it shouldn’t because every time I read another of her books, I fall deeper in love with her writing. This story is about more than the darker aspects of a young girl being saved from some seriously potential dangers and from a life of starvation. It is about a man who has demons of his own finding that there is more to his life, more to HIM than the life he lives trying to atone for what he assumes he is responsible for. There is some great chemistry in this story, not just between the main characters but also of some of the other characters, friends, business associates that make reading this story not only super steamy but also fun and swoon worthy. It brings characters from other stories into play in a surprising way that makes you salivate for the next story. That ending…just wow! Totally looking forward to Ian’s story.
Who would have thought that Erik was a hopeless romantic! After buying Alexandra to save her and giving her a job at his company, Erik acts more like a 13 year old than a 31 year old that he is. Savior is an older man/younger woman story. Alexandra is fiercely independent and Erik is determined to have his way. The story is sexy, sweet with a slow buildup. Another awesome read by Fiona Cole.
Review copy was received for a honest opinion.
Oh… mmm… Gee!!! This book. This book was everything! I was immediately in love with this story! Alexandra can be naïve at times but she is so young and I like to view her optimism as her seeing the world as it could be rather than as it is really. Erik is a complicated guy. He can be cold and cruel at times and then he can be kind and compassionate. I think Alexandra described him perfectly: “You’re kind of an asshole but a good one”. He says one thing but does the complete opposite. He tries to resist temptation but his jealousy gets the better of him. He lashes out and his methods are perhaps a little extreme. I’d be slapping him the first time he pulled a stunt like that with me. And yet, I absolutely love Erik! I think he has replaced the crush I had on Prince Eric. This Erik is so much more fun 😉 Now, he isn’t perfect. He criticises Alexandra for her naivety but it’s understandable considering that he has seen the underbelly of the world. He does however have honourable intentions and is a modern day hero. Even if that isn’t how he sees himself. He does the right thing for its own sake and doesn’t want recognition or accolades. He simply tries to right so many wrongs that have occurred in the world.
The characters were brilliant in this story especially Ian who is an absolute hoot! I love how he gives Erik a hard time in a brotherly fashion. Some characters however really deserved a slap in the face. With a chair.
There were moments in the story when you needed a fan. Or a very cold shower. Others, you needed hold onto to something because you weren’t sure what was happening. And finally, I was so overjoyed at one moment near the end I was jealousy and happy all at the same time. I love that while the story is a standalone, the overlap of characters from other stories written by Fiona Cole is brilliant. I love how connected the stories are and I can’t wait to dive back into the magical universe that Fiona Cole has created. I am eagerly awaiting her next story. I’m on the edge of my seat!
Erick Brandt – Love Him or hate him, I promise you won’t forget him. Once you meet him, he will be forever ingrained in your mind and your heart. He’s all I can think about since meeting him. * sighs dreamily* Did I mention he’s the swooniest dick of all? *grins* It’s true. 😉
I literally stayed up all night reading Savior the night I started it or I should say late morning and didn’t stop reading until the later hours of the morning. And no, I’m not kidding. Once I started reading Savior I did not want to put it down. I was hooked from the very first page and got suckered right in like I do with every Fiona Cole novel I read.
Savior is set in the same world as Voyeur, which is another amazing novel by Fiona Cole. (Make sure and read it if you haven’t already) This world is full of so many diverse characters who are all so interesting and interconnected in one way or another. I’ve enjoyed getting to meet all these different characters and when I found out Cole was revisiting the world of Voyeur I was so excited.
Savior revolves around the very sexy and very mysterious Erik Brandt, who is the epitome of tall, dark and handsome. And his feisty counterpart is none other than Alexandra, a girl who literally takes shit from no one and that includes Erik.
Erik and Alexandra meet in some pretty crazy circumstances. At least I think so. Alexandra puts her virginity for sale online. Crazy, I know. But before you jump to any conclusions, please know that she does it out of desperation. She’s not out there looking to get rich quick. Her life, past and present, has been hard, to say the least, so she does what she has to in order to survive, and as they say, “desperate times call for desperate measures,” so when she finally runs out of options, she does the only thing she can think to do and puts her virginity for sale online. I won’t go into all the details but let’s just say Erik comes to her rescue and offers her a better life but he’s no hero. If anything, he’s an asshole, a hot asshole, but an asshole nonetheless.
Alexandra being the sweet, innocent person she is, see’s the good in everyone and Erik is no exception to this, but Erik being the asshole he is, goes out of his way to prove her wrong and does some pretty messed up things just to show her how wrong he is for her and in those moments the man is a total dick. Yes, you heard me right.
Erik Brandt is a dick and he knows it, but he’s a swoony dick. I totally made that up but that just goes to show, Erik Brandt inspires so many things in us readers. One of those being anger, sadness, love, lust, and all sorts of emotions and in my case, he inspired me to coin a phrase for him and believe it or not, it really suits him. When you meet him and see the things he does, you’ll understand why I decided to call him a swoony dick, so brace yourself because Erik is no knight in shining armor.
Erik is a swoony dick through and through and you will want to cut off his D at times and I won’t blame you. He’s an asshole but he’s one of those assholes you love to hate and hate to love. You know which ones I’m talking about. I know we all love and hate them and it can’t be helped and I promise you, Erik will be no exception to this. He is everything you want and don’t want in a book boyfriend. lol He will make you feel conflicted but I promise you by the end, he will win you over. Ask Fiona Cole, she stole my heart when she created Erik Brandt and I don’t ever want it back.
Now excuse me, while I go ride off into the sunset with Erik Brandt. Ha! I wish. I’ll just have to settle for Alexandra having him. *Sighs* Anyways, do yourself a favor and read Savior ASAP! It has some heavy subject matter but I promise you this story is worth pushing through all the tough things Alexandra endures at the hands of life, which is an even bigger asshole to her than Erik. * cries * But seriously do yourself a favor and take a chance on Savior if you haven’t already. I did and I am still thinking about this story days after reading it.
This story isn’t just ingrained in my mind. It’s ingrained in my heart forever and ever.
If you are new to Fiona Cole and are debating reading Savior, do yourself a favor and take a chance on her. Please. I did when I came across her novel Shame, which was completely out of my comfort zone and I haven’t looked back since picking up my first novel by her.
Fiona Cole is a versatile author who is not afraid to dabble in different romance tropes and as a romance reader, I appreciate this so much because her stories are all so different and did I mention they are addicting too? Cole is an author whose work I have come to know and love. Almost all of her books have managed to push me out of my comfort zone in one way or another, BUT no matter how much they push me I can never bring myself to put them down.
Her books are always SO addicting and I feel that with every single one I read, her writing just gets stronger and stronger and dare I say, hotter. 😛 How that is possible, I don’t know, but Cole always finds a way to make each release better and better and I am living for everything she blesses us thirsty readers with. 😛
Thank you, Fiona Cole, for blessing us with your amazing stories! You make the romance world a better place! *inserts all the heart eyes*
I give Savior 5 big ass stars!
Do you love an “alpha-hole?” You know the guy. The one who is decidedly emotionally unavailable due to some type of trauma in his past. This, unfortunately, has created a divide in him: he wants to help others but his inability to connect emotionally with anyone keeps him alone, distant. One minute, he shows compassion and concern, and the next minute, he humiliates the heroine in a way that could be soul-crushing. If you like this type of guy, then you definitely want to read Fiona Cole’s Savior.
If you’re like me and you like to read this type of male character, then you know the attraction to watching his evolution. Erik, the main H in this book, embodies this alpha-hole well. If you could see my notes on this book, you would read all the times that I wanted to reach through my book and strangle him, as he intimidated and, quite frankly, sexually harassed Alexandra, the h of this book. He places her on his emotional rollercoaster, straps her in, and forces her to endure his dips and highs. From the minute they meet, he protects her, albeit he shames her in her choices. And he continues to protect and care for her, all while pushing her away because he is emotionally broken. When you encounter an Erik in a book, you know that the h, in this case Alexandra, will bring him to his knees. However, she must summon the depths of her strength to do so. In this book, Alexandra impressed me the most.
The character of Alexandra should be broken. Her mother died of a drug overdose when she was young, her sister is a drug addict with no interest in helping Alexandra survive, and she is impoverished in a way that I have not read in a romance novel. Most in her situation would give up. Not Alexandra. She devises a plan to earn money. This ultimately puts her in Erik’s path and in his life. Once there, while she is no longer living a life of poverty, she must endure Erik’s emotional poverty and his outbursts towards her. I’ll be honest. If it was me, I would have given the jerk the finger early in the book. However, Alexandra, in her strength, stands firm and accepts his unkindness. In fact, she pushes back against him, and she ultimately saves him from himself. She tells him “…[y]ou saved me. You’re my savior.” The reality of this book is that Alexandra saves Erik; she is the true savior of this story.
Fiona Cole has quickly become one of my favorite authors. Her books are emotion and message and hot $ex combined together in a delicious stew of romance. When I read one of her books, like Savior, I know I will feel: angst, lust, and joy combined together. Savior is much the same. It’s a reminder that, in enduring trauma, love will ultimately save us from ourselves, if we allow it.
“I’ve wanted this for so long. You make me feel safe. You take the women you rescue to Haven, but you’re my haven.”

„And say it for me
Say it to me
And I’ll leave this life behind me
Say it if it’s worth savin’ me”
– Nickelback ‘Savin Me’
After reading Savior by Fiona Cole I reminded myself about this song right away. Because just like in the lyrics, Alexandra and Erik’s story shows us that the right person can save us and we can become the best version of ourselves for them. Love gives us a reason to fight our demons and to start fully breathe without looking back. Savior is a story loaded with emotions, steam and angst. It’s also a journey that leads to reconciliation with unpleasant memories and purification of guilt.
Desperate situations lead to desperate actions – Alexandra knows it first-hand because it was desperation that led the girl to the place where she decided to put her virginity on sale. Her life is a complete disaster and there are no prospects that this will change in the near future if she doesn’t take drastic steps. But in the appointed hotel room appears Erik Brandt – an extremely sexy but also harsh man who has a better offer for Alexandra than a night in exchange for cash. Is the deal worth taking a risk? It seems so. But is it really Alexandra who needs to be saved?
This story is simply brilliant. I absorbed each word like a sponge and experienced every situation as an eyewitness. Despite her though experiences Alexandra is fierce, stubborn and knows what she wants. She also has a good heart. Her sassiness is admirable considering her earlier fate. Erik in turn is my favorite type of hero- total alpha, who’s a bastard with dirty mouth but who still deserves to be redeemed. Under the asshole shell this man hides deep wounds and a big heart. I fell in love with him completely. And although his attempts to extinguish burning emotions made me angry and I wanted to slap him across the face, it was understandable to some extent. The guy had his reasons that made him not approachable. But despite his issues and the age gap chemistry between these two was outright explosive, so there was no other option but to give in to feelings. And let me say that Fiona Cole writes such intimate scenes that you can get pregnant just from reading. Seriously, sexiness overload.
The story described in Savior is magnificent. From the beginning to the very end it keeps the reader’s interest, who’s still asking for more. The story is original, the characters are wonderful and the suspense keeps you constantly on the edge of the seat. The entirety is sprinkled with a great dose of passion that makes you blush. One of the best reads of this year!
This book absolutely kept me on the edge of my seat with the slow burn full of twists and turns that left me suspicious of every. single. moment. When would Erik be a complete and utter jerk again? (ALWAYS) When would Alexandra’s growing happiness be viciously ripped out from under her feet? (Ahhh! You’ll have to read to find out) Fiona Cole is one of my absolute favorite authors and Savior yet again reinforced why!
Did someone say age-gap romance? That’s all I needed to know to immediately dive into Fiona Cole’s Savior, and I devoured this uber-sexy, provocative must-read in one sitting. When Alexandra’s life reaches dire straits, she’s makes a desperate choice to sell her virginity on the internet. She posts an ad, but fate intervenes and sends her a hero, Erik. Well, it’s not obvious to her that Erik is even remotely hero-ish, because he keeps his motivations and feelings locked down behind a gruff, jerk-ish exterior. Truth be told, his feelings for this innocent and determined 19-year old scare the hell out of him, and he’s doing all he can to keep her at an arm’s length distance. If you love an alpha-hole hero, you are about to meet your new favorite. You’re welcome.

ARC provided, but this review was voluntarily and honestly written.
This book is the mother of all that is awesome and epic! If there were more than 5 stars, this would be a book to give more to, because this book give YOU more! Alexandra has a determination that you don’t often see in a 19 year old. She doesn’t want to be rescued, but she doesn’t fight it when she is. Erik has a very serious problem being honest with himself. He doesn’t see himself very clearly. His hot and cold demeanor is maddening, but Alexandra deals with it with such poise! She handles him so well. There are times when I felt like I was punched in the gut and I just wanted to cry for her…. but she had some smart come back or does something devious to get back at him. I am not going to lie, there are some difficult things to read in this book… but it is so worth it. The book is just so well written that when these things went on, I was pulled in more because I wanted to see where Fiona was going to go with it. And then there were the times when I was happy…. but I really don’t think that “happy” is really the correct word. Elated is more like it. I felt like I was flying on cloud 9 when this book had its happy times. And these 2 do some REALLY HOT THINGS!!! So….. gut punching, pantie soaking, flying high, more than 5 star kind of book! This will ABSOLUTELY be on my top read of 2019 list! Fiona killed me with this one…. and then made me as happy as a kid in a candy shoppe. I don’t think that there is enough good things for me to say about this story. It was very intriguing from the start! I was all in and I did not regret a single minute of the sleep I missed! I am quite sure that I will be rereading this…. and eagerly awaiting it to be out on audio! Go get it…. NOW!
Love me some great eighteen heroine with a mind of her own even if she’s a virgin and very inexperienced in life but is willing to make something out of her life.
To make a better life and escape the one that she’s living now, Alexandra has made an awful decision that will leave her to meet her next boss Erik.
This age gap romance is a perfect match for two very different characters that come from different words but start towards a slow burn romance with being friends and trying to know each other first and also to resist the pull to each other and the desire for more even if all these thoughts will make them regret or think twice about their actions in the morning after.
I wanted to shout at Erik for being such a douche so many times and also to cheer for any small step they took towards their relation, but at times, even if the chemistry and desire was there i didn’t feel it like that,it was more of a just friends that care for each other and will try to keep the other safe. That being said, this book was still a great read and can’t wait to read the next one as the epilogue left me mouth opened.
5 Cranky Stars
Alexandra was 19 and worked hard for very little. She was always hungry and counting the pennies to make ends meet. She lives with her sister Leah, who wasn’t much older (Irish Twins) but she was more streetwise. They were taken by their father to live in Ireland when young, but after he died they were shipped back to their mother in the US. Their mother was an addict and hardly on this planet, it was Leah that stepped up to the mark and watched out for Alex. When their mother was found dead Leah was just old enough to take responsibility of Alex. Times were tough and Leah met up with Oscar who not only got her addicted to drugs but beat her too. Now it was up to Alex to keep the filthy rotten trailer and get food etc. Alex spent most of her free time in the Library on the computers, when she came across an advert ‘Give Up Your Virginity for $10,000’ how tempting this was. The deciding factor was when she went home and found that Leah had stolen the little bit of money she did have for drugs and when she confronted her Oscar tried to rape her. The next day she completed what she had to and pressed enter, but had to leave as they were closing. Across town Erik and Gerard had intercepted her message and tried to contact for a meet. When the arrangements were made Erik himself decided to go for the extraction as it didn’t sound like a sex gang one. They met and Erik, even though he thought her very pretty gave her a hard time about who could have reached that email and where she could end up. Erik ended up taking her back to his place and giving her a job. Alex had a legit company with his friend Ian and as a side line Gerard sat in his little room looking out for vulnerable girls and extracting them before they ended up in the sex trade. Now the story starts as Erik’s feelings get muddled and Alexandra’s naivety gets her into trouble. The past comes out about Erik and why he does this. A very intriguing book of people’s emotions and the lengths they will go to, to deny them.
Savior is yet another great book by Fiona Cole. This book just gave me all the feels!!
The main character Erik is definitely an a** – and I mean literally a big, fat a**hole. But somehow he was also really sweet and caring. I really liked him and could understand his actions. He’s such a hard, yet heartfelt character and it made me love him even more. And Alexandra, she’s such a sweet and strong person. So lovely and caring. Oh and all the other secondary characters were so well written and likable. I really hope Fiona writes some stories for them too 😉
Altogether I really loved the dynamic of this story. It’s such a difficult matter and Fiona Cole just managed to portrait it in such a beautiful, sexy and emotional way that you just can’t help but love it. The whole story is just heartbreakingly beautiful – it’s raw, sexy, sweet, heartbreaking and so much more than you ever expect.
OH MY SWEET JESUS MOTHER OF GOD THIS BOOK WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING AND HOT. MUST MUST READ.
I very rare read books at one go, but this one I did. I devourd every single page of it and every single word. I just couldn’t put it down. I loved every part of this book.
Fiona Cole managed to suck my whole heart into this story. She managed to get every emotion out of me.
When I started it I didn’t know what to expect as this was my first read by her. And she swept me off my feet. I was glued to the pages from the very start. I can’t express how much I loved it and her writing is just so perfect. And don’t even get me started with the hot s*x scenes coz this book was hot and steamy as hell. God I want Erik in my life. I loved him so much, but I must say at some points I just wanted to punch him in the face. And Alex, she was so sweet and strong. I loved her character. There is anything I didn’t love about this book. It’s a MUST READ and Fiona is my new favorite author. After I read this one I was sitting and wondering how I still haven’t read her other books so far as I have few of them? But I will do it now. She is really amazing. Well done Mrs. Cole.
5 stars from me but I would give it way more.
SAVIOR INDEED! Who is saving Whom in this incredible tale of survival, sex slavery, and ultimately . . . love.
Two souls meet in the darkest of darks. One desperate to survive at all costs, the other desperate to save the lost souls. Alexandra is naïve and ready to sell the only thing she has left of any value to save herself. Little does she know that the man who is ready to buy has other plans for her. Something in her eyes has drawn Erik to her even after he vowed never to do it again. Something in her eyes calls to his inner caveman and brings out the savior in him.
Both Alexander and Erik have demons to stomp on, both are trying to survive any way they can. One sees the good in everyone, the other hides the good in everything. Perhaps this time, stomping down the good won’t be possible; it’s time for Erik to open up his heart and let some good in. The light at the end of the tunnel keeps glowing brighter the longer Alexandra is in Erik’s life. No matter how badly he treats her, Alexandra always hopes for the best, sees the best, forgives all, and gives her all. Admirable traits, but also the cause of a multitude of heartbreak and pain.
After reading just one free book by Fiona Cole, I was hooked to her story telling. Now I’m in deep and craving more words. Erik and Alexandra’s story is filled with pain and heartbreak yet love still shines through. Erik is definitely a Grade A *sshole and Alexandra might be too good for him, she sees right though his walls and starts to break them down. I enjoyed this book immensely. It has suspense, drama, mystery, sadness, love, hope, and of course, an HEA.
One last note to mention is that amazing epilogue. I love a good epilogue, I basically insist on them. Fiona Cole has taken that to a whole new level here and has readers on edge for another spin-off in the Voyeur series. Fall 2019 can’t come soon enough for more shocking revelations.
Savior gripped me from the very first page until the very last. Hot, steamy, suspenseful, even romantic, Savior had it all. Cole is at her very best. The only downside? This incredible book had to end. Take all of my stars.
I realize that the focus of this review should sit squarely on Alexandra & Erik, I know this, but COME ON Fiona….that epilogue is KILLING ME!!! I’ll never make it til Fall waiting on you to tell Carina’s story with you dangling that carrot at me like that. I have a serious badass girl crush on Carina!! That woman is FIRE. Gah……thats’ all I’m going to say on that, but just know that my sanity is slipping a bit as my imagination has been working overtime since those last few paragraphs.
Continuing in the Voyeur world, Fiona unleashes an age gap, forbidden, taboo romance between a young virgin and the man determined to protect her. Even if she thinks she doesn’t need him and his brand of protection. What she does need….money. Alexandra has had a difficult life, but she is set on changing the course of her life and needs money to do it. If she could get just a little nest egg, she could go to college, land a good paying job, and never have to depend on anyone again. She answers an ad that turns her world upside down in ways she never dreamed.
Okay… Erik Brandt is in a special class of book boyfriends. I swayed back & forth reading this story between wanting to scratch his eyes out, and wanting to relish the feel of my nails as they scraped down the skin of his back while in a less than ladylike position. What can I say? The A in alpha a-hole types really turn my crank, and Erik is one major a-hole for so much of the book. Somehow, he still manages to be irresistible and here’s why. Erik epitomizes the idea that some people do “all the wrong things, but for all the right reasons.” Erik wanted to atone for a family tragedy he blames himself for, but he did not foresee just how difficult it would be to be surrounded by Alexandra day in and day out. The attraction he feels for her plagues him constantly, even though he knows he is not good enough for her. Making it worse, he can see she wants him too. The battle begins.
The tug of war between these two was frustrating and insane. Fiona always does such an exceptional job building the anticipation between her lead characters. You feel like you’re going to come out of your skin if they don’t tear into each other soon. When that pivotal moment surfaces….holy mother of…Fireworks!!! Erik’s past experiences have served him and ultimately Alexandra very, very well!
I needed to walk away a time or two so I could catch my breath.
Alexandra was young, but I wouldn’t exactly call her innocent. She was sharp-tongued, bold, opinionated, challenging, sassy, sweet, funny, and genuinely likable. Definitely not a wallflower. When Erik threw his cold, calculating punches trying to distance himself from her, she let him have it.
I loved the way this book was tied to the Voyeur word and yet we had the added bonus of something edgier happening as well. The book had a raw feeling to it because of the circumstances leading up to Erik’s interaction with Alexandra. Once he dealt with his baggage and the emotional leverage he let control his actions, we saw the caring and nurturing side of him come into play. He can certainly turn on the charm when he wants to. Alexandra deserved that from him! When he finally humbled himself and placed his heart in her hands it was a beautiful thing. That collage nearly did me in! So unexpected from him. SWOON! Plus, Fiona gives us great dirty-talkin’ alphas!
The appearances from Carina, Jackson, Ian, and Jake were wonderful. I always appreciate when an author allows us to check in with previous characters from other works. Makes me giddy!
Although, I’m sincerely hoping that we’ll never hear from Leah or Oscar again! Just. No.
