The longer she stays hidden away in the sleepy vacation town from her childhood, the more she realizes how much she loves the simple life and the more her feelings for Hudson grow. more
Hudson is an abrasive, rude, strong, and protective guy. Stacey was always in the wrong place at the right time. Several chance meetings with Stacey, Hudson knew he had to step in and help her. She was on the run from her ex-husband. She thought she was laying low when a man came around looking for her. Hudson took her to the safety of his cabin. Their relationship is just temporary. Neither one of them wanted anything permanent again.
This story has several twists and turns. Hudson’s ex steals his focus several times and during those times he becomes rude and cold. Stacey always got the brunt of these moods. She’s determined to never allow anyone to treat her that way again.
This is the second book in the series, however it is a stand-alone. This has suspense, action, lust, hot passion, a cat, a dog, and a bear. You’ll be kept in suspense as to what happens next. Just when you think you have it figured out, something totally different happens. To me that’s a great book. I received this as an ARC for my honest review with no compensation.
I enjoyed book one in this series, but I LOVED this one.
Hudson McCormick, a secondary character in book 1 and now the main character, is partner in the newly formed Sunset Security. As much as it annoys him, his weakness is helping damsels in distress.
Stacey Allen, is running away from her abusive husband. She is a strong woman, determined to survive on her own. But when she gets in a bind, Hudson is there to help.
Neither wants a relationship, and though they keep sending each other mixed messages, the attraction is there.
The story is engaging from the first page to the last. Filled with bad guys, hunky good ones, humor (I truly laughed at the “Bipolar Express” comment) and of course romance. Though the last one traveled a very bumpy road.
Another well written , fast paced story, by this talented author.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Hudson isn’t the guy you would expect him to be. Hes been through enough in his life already and than comes Stacey.
The connection you see between the 2 of them is amazing. I couldn’t put this down for wanting to see what was going to happen next.
A must read!
Wow!
This story doesn’t stop! It’s packed full of excitement and adventure, but it’s also sweet and very HOT!
I love Hudson’s manners and chivalry, also his never give up personality and work ethic. He is the all American, “do what is right” kind of guy.
I love Stacey’s perseverance in the face of continued domestic abuse. She has the strongest will to change her situation and thrive. I also have a soft spot for her love of animals which takes her into the dangerous neighborhood retrieving a very loud stray cat.
This author is incredible and powerful in her imagery and creativity. She incorporates the simplest things into her stories which make them a pivotal piece of the story.
A fast-paced read, one you won’t put down until you are finished. I enjoyed each and every word. I hope there are more books to come with this theme.
Excellent job! I loved it!
I was given a free copy of this book from the author for my honest and unbiased review.
Saving Stacey has a little bit of everything. There’s suspense not knowing when Stacey’s violent ex-husband is going to find her. She’s hiding out as a waitress and Hudson steps in to help her when the goon, her ex hires, tracks her down. There’s hot chemistry between Stacey and Hudson but neither one sees it as long term. This book has stubbornness, humor, scary men, Hudson’s ex-girlfriend, and a lot of drama and suspense. It’s unpredictable and keeps you on the edge of your seat while providing steamy romance at the same time.
A steamy and well written romantic suspense
Whilst this is the second book in the Florida Veterans series, it is very much a stand alone read. Saving Stacey is one heck of a spicy romantic suspense, with a kooky heroine and a surly hero.
Having read a few books by this author I knew that this would be a very character driven story, and that those characters would be complex and flawed. I wasn’t disappointed, there was nothing trite, boring or predictable about either Stacey or Hudson. I liked that there were several plot strands threading through the book, it gave extra depth and personality to the plot.
There were times I wanted to shake one or the other of this pair, but that just shows how invested I was in them. Their chemistry is as hot as the Florida sun that shines down in this book. There is a good balance so that the steam compliments and enhances the story, rather than swamping it.
I will say that we usually get a little more depth from supporting characters with this author. In Saving Stacey they felt a little underdeveloped, but the plot didn’t allow for much interaction with these side characters. For a large part of the book, the plot very much revolved around just Stacey and Hudson.
Due to sexual content I would rate this as an 18+ read, other than that I would happily recommend it to family, friends and lovers of romantic suspense, as well as contemporary romance.
Lions and tigers and bears! Oh my! Well, maybe not quite! But there were plenty of scary men, never knowing which one(s) would pop up. I absolutely loved Hudson, who I labeled as Mr Grumpy Pants, and the spitfire personality of Stacey! Together they seemed like oil and water when they were actually more like a match to TNT! Their chemistry was explosive! I also took a liking to Mr Clark, owner of the Lobster Lounge! I’m ready for a relaxing vacation in Crystal River, as the visuals that Author Lynn painted with words made it sound so inviting! I’m loving this series!
