“An uplifting story with tremendous heart. I couldn’t put it down.” —Helen Brown Joal Derse Dauer was donating blankets at a local no-kill shelter when an injured and despondent dog caught her eye. With three “fur babies” already at home, Joal wasn’t looking to adopt another dog. But there was something special about Sadie . . . With patience, hope, and plenty of love, Joal saw her canine … and plenty of love, Joal saw her canine companion grow in strength and joy. And before long, she discovered that sweet Sadie had transformed her life in ways she never could have imagined.
Joyous and inspiring, Saving Sadie is a triumphant story about the power of unconditional love and second chances—for humans and animals alike.

I don’t know if I could have done what was needed to save Sadie, but I’m glad they found each other
Did not like it. To tragic!
Joal Dauer went to an animal shelter to donate some blankets when her eyes locked onto a dog, named Sadie. Sadie had just given birth to a litter of puppies and was shot twice and left in a woods to die before arriving at the shelter. Joal already had two cats and a dog. But Sadie’s eyes kept looking at Joal. She decided to take Sadie home just to make her more comfortable until she passed. But Sadie had other ideas.
A WONDERFUL STORY ABOUT THE MUTUAL LOVE BETWEEN A DOG AND HER HUMAN COMPANION.
SADIE BROUGHT SO MUCH HAPPINESS TO ALL WHO MET AND INTERACTED WITH HER.
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A DOG LOVER TO ENJOY THIS HAPPY STORY
Did not particularly enjoy this book.
The dog is clearly a heroine and grabs your heart. I ended up skimming most of the book because any part that wasn’t about the dog wasn’t very interesting. I didn’t care much about the side stories about the author’s sister or her two daughters because they weren’t developed at all. This would be a much better book if it were more about Sadie and less about the author. The book also would be improved with better writing, which might have made the side stories interesting.
If you love dogs, you have GOT to read this book. An amazing, heart wrenching tale of the love between a dog and her human.
Story of a broken dog and the woman who devoted herself to helping the dog heal.
