After years of abuse and neglect, Parker is found chained in a junk-filled backyard after a drug bust. The little guy’s terrified of people. Officer Ned Barringer brings him to a nearby shelter for medical care. When Ned learns how hard it is for dogs like Parker to get adopted, he must do more. He’s also instantly taken with Kim Harper, one of the shelter managers. She offers to train Parker for … for free. Ned instantly accepts. That same day, he meets his next-door neighbor, a ten-year-old boy named Russell. Russell is hiding a black-eye, compliments of two bullies at school. This angers Ned. He suffered the same fate as a child. It’s the main reason he became a cop. But what can he do? When a near-death tragedy occurs, what role might Parker play in bringing these three lives together?
Dan Walsh is known for page-turning, character driven novels. Fans of Dan’s other novels, as well as dog-lovers everywhere will especially enjoy Saving Parker (and if they do, 2 more books are available in the Forever Home series).

The walk of a born again Christian is difficult to write about without sounding trite an simplistic to describe the deep satisfying experience of an effective prayer life is almost impossible to show the importance Bible study just comes off sounding boring. I can assure you however sincere Mr. Walsh’s walk is he missed the mark.
Found it hard to get into so did not finish it. May try again later.
A feel good book. Kept your interest. Great book for anomal lovers.
Saving Parker was a beautiful story, well written with charming characters and life lessons to ponder. I enjoyed every moment of it! Thank you, Dan Walsh!
It’s more like a children’s book. I’m just not into books that tell what a dog is thinking
It was a nice story but nothing special. Probably better for kids.
This book is about rescuing an abused dog; almost all of my dogs have been rescues and great pets. It’s a fairly short book and sweet, so I enjoyed it.
I like this particular writer, and while I don’t consider this great literature, I find it interesting and informative, and like all of his novels, written with a Christian perspective.
easy read– not really a page turner
Unfortunately – Extremely slow, all with repetitive topics and way too much detail, plus very predictable.
This book touched upon many topics of interest…dogs touching human lives…gun safety …and their place in society…bullying…God…and more. A good read.
Too slow. Lost my interest.
Easy to read human (and dog!) interest story with a message. Likeable characters and easy flow to the story but would have liked it to be less methodical. Finished it in one sitting.
Loved!
Great Book for Dog Lover’s
Loved the characters, especially the police officer and his care for the boy who was being bullied as well as the dog. Well written and easy to read.
This book weaves information on the problem of school bullying into the plot along with some action and romance…and of course the dog’s story! I loved it!
I have read Dan Walsh’s books about Dogs and others but I learned a lot about animal shelters and what Dogs are thinking. How to act with them etc. Thanks Dan for letting Parker be rescued!!
my favorite book in the series!
