Abbie Roads delivers a bone-chilling love story centered on two individuals who should be mortal enemies—Cain Killion and Mercy Ledger. Cain, son of a serial killer, investigates murders as a form of redemption for his father’s crimes. His internal war of good versus evil is enough to make him a complicated character.
The plot thickens when he rescues Mercy Ledger from a dangerous situation. Cain’s greatest misfortune is being attracted to her, the lone survivor of a massacre.
How strong are the blood ties that bind Cain to his past? And can Mercy truly leave her own past behind?
The chemistry between Cain and Mercy sizzles. It’s also as dangerous and combustible as a firecracker near a gas pump. The twists and turns in this one will keep you guessing.
I loved it!! One of the best books I’ve read that kept me on edge from the first few pages to the explosive ending. I fell in love with the strong characters, the storyline. The horrific and chilling murders and the mind boggling abilities were just crazy. I was so wrapped up in this story and went through every emotion you could possibly think of! I cannot wait to see what’s coming next in the series.
I love Paranormal Romantic Suspense and Saving Mercy (Fatal Truth, Book 1) is the first in the series and was AMAZING!
Saving Mercy reminds me of a True Crime show or a Psychological Suspense movie. It does have some graphic violence, alot of blood, and murder. Good and evil battling against each other. The way Abbie tells her story and the words she has chosen gave me goosebumps, but in a good way. You can feel the pain Cain and Mercy are going through and just want them to be happy and together.
This is my first book by the author Abbie Roads, but she is now one author I will keep looking for her next books to be released!!
Oh my gosh!!!! Fantastic book!!!! Loved it!!!

I love the mystery, the suspense and the romance all thrown out in this wonderfully written book! The characters are easy to like. And also I love how I was easily got carried away on all the scenes on this book. Really amazing read!! Loved it!! Ms. Abbie did it again!

Cain and Mercy never thought they would be linked together in the most tragic way. Cain the son of a serial killer and Mercy, one of his father’s victiwho miraculously survived. They have the strength to save each other but will the hauntings of the past stop them? Everyone needs to read this book. This author is amazing and I love her books.
Abbie has a way of writing that completely consumes. Her characters are broken and devoured in darkness to fight through to find the light. As with her other books, I was not able to put this one down and read it in one day. Mercy and Cain’s story was a story of survival and learning to heal. Excellent read
More dark, bloody, chilling romance by Abbie Roads. Saving Mercy has a real sinister feel to it, and can be real morbid with the content, Cain can be lugubrious but with his method of finding out what happened at crime scenes is quite disturbing and how he got that way is disconcerting and it is completely understandable for him to be the way he is. Cain is the son of a serial killer, Adam Killian, who forced Cain to watch all his murders and bathed him in the blood of the victims. Ever since Cain has had an extrasensory ability to read the murder scene, he can see the murder through the killer’s eyes. He now works for the FBI with the agent who saved him from his father and then raised him as his own.
Mercy survived the unthinkable, she watched as a serial killer murdered her parents in front of her and his own son. She barely survived but grew up fairly normal and well balanced until the “good” Dr. Payne has her institutionalized. Dr Payne is obsessed with Mercy and her survival of the attack, he is telling everyone she’s crazy and out of her mind. Cain is friends with a nurse, Liz, a woman who has been like a mother to him since his Father was caught and he was saved. Liz tells him he needs to save Mercy from the doctor. Cain has been keeping tabs on Mercy the whole time and when Liz fills him in on what the doctor has been doing to Mercy he knows he’s the only one who can save her. But the most recent murders is tieing Cain to them, and it is suspiciously like his father’s murders, only it couldn’t possible be his father he is still in prison and only Cain can track down this copycat. Cain and Mercy have a connection, and while Cain feels guilty for it Mercy sees it as a kinship. Mercy proves she doesn’t hold him responsible for the sins of his father. Can their bond prove to be thicker than blood?
Overall, such a good book. OMG! Suspenseful, nice twist. Bloody, oh so bloody. Romance in an unlikely time but fated to happen. Abbie Roads is a great writer, she transports me into the book and proceeds to creep me out, I love it.
Each book, Abbie writes gets better and better! This is a dark suspense with a touch of supernatural.
Cain Killion, a son of a serial killer, has a gift that allows him to see through the eyes of the killer. Mercy Ledger, is the one known as the sole survivor of Adam Killion’s killing spree. She also has a special gift.
Cain was taken under the wing of MacNeil (Mac) Anderson, an FBI special agent. Cain uses his gift to help Mac. A killer is leaving hidden clues, that Cain uncovers. Mercy may hold the answer to a specific clue, but when Cain goes to speak to her. He finds Mercy in need of mercy, and is talked into taking her out of a mental facility. The two of them are thrown together, both so damaged from their pasts, but both seeing only the good in the other. Danger lurks all around them.
Some lines were quite humorous. A few of my favorites that had me laughing out loud:
“Are you sucking face with Mercy Ledger?” : Dolan to Cain
“Aren’t you going to say anything?” A bit of attitude leaked into Dolan’s tone.
“Give me a moment. I’m debating how to kill you.” : Cain to Dolan
I wanted to keep reading to find out the ending, then when I got to the ending, I discovered I’m going to have book withdrawals! The good news is, this is the first in the series. I look forward to the next book.
Wow, totally devoured this book. It was a bloody good read – both figuratively and literally. This author has one sick and twisted mind that makes for fascinating stories.
Saving Mercy starts a new paranormal series but as with her first series its frightening addicting with tortured characters you immediately are immersed with and feel their pain and sorrow.
Reading a book by this author is like going on a mind bender – lock your seat belt and just hold on for the crazy ride!!
My first book by Ms. Roads. I couldn’t put it down. Highly recommend if you like thrillers. Loved the characters. Can’t wait to read more from her.
My Thoughts – 5 out of 5 Unicorns – I loved it!!!
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I got a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!
The cover is perfect, but you may not notice things until you read the book!
This is the first book in a new series! It is definitely a adult book with the violence and steamy scenes. Abbie is a fantastic author that has introduced me to a new style that is both gruesome and beautiful. Her books amaze me because it is so life like and scary at times. She has quickly found her way to my favorites list!
My heart broke for everything Cain and Mercy have endured. I don’t know that I would have survived everything they have. Cain scared me a little at the start with his gift, but it makes sense once you understand his gift and what his father put him through. I’m not sure who has endured more Cain or Mercy, but this dark tale grabs hold and you become entrenched in the characters. This was an emotional rollercoaster that was like an accident scene you couldn’t look away from.
I highly recommend to anyone who loves Fatal Dreams, crime solving and a thrilling mystery with the perfect amount of romance! I can’t wait to see what Abbie comes up with next!
I voluntarily received an ARC of Saving Mercy by Abbie Roads in exchange for an honest review.
Holy crap! That is all I could think for several minutes after finishing Saving Mercy. Abbie Roads is a magnificent artist and story teller and she has blown my mind once again. I am constantly amazed at how she manages to combine so much pain and darkness with immense amounts of love to form her books.
Mercy and Cain are both so damaged and have been dealt a hand in life that no one should ever have to deal with and their pasts have intertwined to connect them in unimaginable ways. Seeing them struggle to deal with their tragic childhoods while facing new horrors kept me from putting this book down until I had read every last word.
Saving Mercy left me with the worst book-hangover I’ve had in a long time. I tried to start another book the next morning, but it just wasn’t an Abbie Roads book.
Saving Mercy caught me on page one and held me captive throughout the book. I couldn’t put it down. The story was amazing, the characters are believable and your heart goes out to them as they deal with the horrible things that have happened to them that makes them the people they are today.
So so good!!!!!
This book was yet another amazing story by this author. It was heart pounding action and equal steam that I could not put it down. This book follows Cain who has this certain ability that helps him solve murders so as an profiler of sorts to the FBI he does what he can even if it pains him to atone for his own demons. Cain fights everyday to never become what he hates the most in this world and that is his father who is the epitome of evil but when he finds himself having to help Mercy his guilt constantly maws at him yet the attraction and pull to her is too strong. Mercy is a fighter, a survivor, and she proves that time and time again but can she let herself love someone or is she too afraid to get close to anyone in fear that she’s cursed? This book was like watching an amazing tv show or movie because it has it all suspense, love, action, mysteries and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Review:
I was really curious about this book. The summary sounded really interesting and it got good reviews.
What is this book about:
This book is about Mercy and Cain. They have a tricky connection in there past. You see Cain is the son of a serial killer and Mercy is the one he didn’t kill. The Killer killed her entire family but not her.
After her families death live wasn’t that great for Mercy. Especially not when she got admitted to a mental hospital. There is a doctor working there that is obsessed with her and is intent on making things as hard as possible for her.
Cain can’t escape his fathers legacy, people recognize him and fear him. He has done everything he can to make up for his childhood and his father. He works as a consultant for the FBI. He has the ability to see the crime through a killers eyes when he gets in contact with the victims blood.
When recent crime scenes have to many similarities to Cain’s fathers crimes he has to find the one person that can give him the details he needs to solve the case.
What did I like/love:
I liked the concept, it was very intriguing. I liked that it wasn’t obvious from the start who the killer was. I did suspect someone earlier that Cain and the others did, but there was more than meets the eye to it. So yes I did figure out the twists early but it didn’t bother me or took away from the story for me.
I liked seeing Cain grow, I really felt for him. He thought so badly about himself and it broke my heart to see it.
Overall I did enjoy the story it just didn’t blow my mind. I expected more.
What did I dislike/hate:
The romance between Cain and Mercy went really fast. I didn’t like that aspect. It didn’t really feel the connection between them. I got part of it but not all of it if that makes sense.
Some of the story went a bit odd for me. There wasn’t much explanation about the paranormal aspect of the story and the abilities the characters had. I didn’t know whether it was a secret or if everyone knew.
Rating:
3 it was oke stars
***4.5 ‘A Gift and A Curse’ Stars***
When the first chapter has you going “WTF?!?!?” in absolute horrific fascination you know you’re in for an interesting (understatement) ride and that’s what Abbie Roads served up in Saving Mercy. This book is more than just a romantic suspense. It has a touch of the paranormal mixed with all the goodness of a psychological thriller that will keep you turning the pages to find out what will happen next.
Cain Killion has lived with the stigma of been the offspring of a serial killer his entire life and all the crazy that comes with it. He’s learned to block it all out and does all he can to not only makes amends for the sins of his father, but to never become like him. My heart bled for Cain. From his first breath he was trapped in a nightmare and is always on guard. His walls are high and expectations of people, with very few exceptions, are low, so no one ever sees the sweet and considerate man with a gentle heart that only wants peace and a chance at happiness.
Mercy Ledger survived what should have been absolute death at the hands of a serial killer and has been living with the consequences ever since. She has had to pretend to be something she is not to survive as she hides away from the world. God is Mercy strong, vulnerable in some ways, but so damn strong. The life she is living is definitely not the one she dreamed up before it all became a nightmare but by some miracle she’s been able to maintain her sanity and compassionate heart.
What happens when the only survivor of a serial killer and that serial killers offspring collide? The truth? No one can predict it, but what happens between Cain and Mercy was slightly cray cray and yet made perfect sense. While their nightmares may not have been the same, they were orchestrated by the same man and it forged a connection that neither could deny. From start to finish their relationship actually made sense to me and watching as they formed a tangible bond of their own making was the bright spot in the darkness.
Having read the Fatal Dreams series I knew Abbie Roads could weave a story and make even the most outlandish aspects work in a realistic way and she’s done that with Saving Mercy. The story was intriguing, though it does take a gruesome nature at certain times that may turn some off, but it is necessary to the storyline and I had fun trying to figure out “who done it” and found the reveal to be surprising and yet make absolute sense. There were some things that happened, or didn’t happen, that had me going. “Really? They didn’t…grrr.” and at times the book dragged for me and I had to keep from skimming things because I knew that there was a purpose to all of it and didn’t want to miss a thing. But overall, this was an awesome read and I’m looking forward to finding out if my guess at who the next book will be about is correct!

I couldn’t put this book down
If at all possible, Abbie Roads just outdid herself. I think this is her best book yet. She doesn’t just explain the mind of her characters. She brings them to life by having you breathe, feel and become them. Reading Saving Mercy isn’t a journey to see what happens in the end. The journey starts with page one and is travelled from paragraph to paragraph. Not many authors can do this for me.
I’m still astounded by Abbie Road’s ability to make me feel each character and the whole book had such depth I could see it played out. Each character’s movement, speech and expression was so easy to visualize. No one can reach the mind of a mad-man, serial killer, victim, and survivor like Abbie.
What a twisted ride! Abbie does it yet again somehow making us fall in love with the unseemly hero and creating a strong yet feminine heroine. This book mixes all those horrible nightmares along with a very human feeling of curiosity along with shining a light on victim sympathy. The description of blood and bloodlust is so real and the mental roller coaster Killian and Dr. Payne take Cain and Mercy on is sickening and yet somehow intriguing. I could feel the pain of these characters, completely envision the murder scenes and damn near smell the blood. It’s one hell of a story with a great twist in the end! Can’t wait for book two!
Abbie Roads has done it again! Saving Mercy is a roller coaster with all the feels. Similar to her Fatal Dreams duology (if you haven’t read it, it NEEDS to be on your list), Roads does an amazing job of weaving in her paranormal elements into reality so the tapestry is so believable it has to be possible, right? Similar to Stephen King, she asked “What if?”, and then “If you believed that, what about this?”
Cain is living proof that not all of the victims left behind in the aftermath of a monster have to be hunted. Cain’s childhood was as horrific, and probably more so, as what Killer Killion did to the Ledgers. He’s damaged, but is he really broken?
Mercy was the one that got away. Or did she? Mercy’s life is a commentary on our current society. Let’s take the worst day of your life and keep reliving it for entertainment. With no connections in life, no family or friends, when Mercy is “committed” to the Center for Health and Well Being, no one questions why she’s there.
Take two damaged souls, remade into something more by a monster, and you get something magical – hope. Roads characters are beautifully flawed and damaged, but somehow not broken. The prose in this book is amazing. Roads words paint a complex and rich portrait that sucks you in and doesn’t let go until she’s ready. Ultimately, Cain and Mercy find hope in the wasteland left in the wake of Killer Killion.
Once again Abbie Roads writes another page turner!!! I look forward to her next book!!! Read and enjoy!!!
