A heart-warming, albeit breaking, romantic time travel which shows Skye MacKinnon’s interest and respect for the history of Mary Queen Of Scots. A definite must read for anyone interested in Scottish History in fictional settings.
Time travel and history go hand-in-hand with what-ifs! What if something changes the past? What if this change affects the future? And yet, when emotions are involved, what-ifs go out of the window. This was an excellent story set in the Academy of Time universe, full of romance, emotions and suspense. Time travel fans will definitely love this story.
Great storyline and character development made this book a hot and enjoyable read!
Extremely entertaining, captivating and interesting sexy read. I could not put it down. Wonderfully written with strong, intriguing characters. I want to read more from this author.
Queen’s Academy by Skye MacKinnon is book number four in this awesome series that I have loved reading. I can not wait to see what this awesome author will write about. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about time travel, Sci-Fi and paranormal romance.

A very interesting read. A cross between a romance and a history book. I learn a lot about Mary Queen of Scots.
Drake see’s Mary in his dreams and as he attends the Time Travel Academy he can go and actually see her. But he’s not allowed to mess with the timeline.
As he already knows what her fate will be, but he got feelings for her, what can he do? Save the women he thinks he might love and risk changing history forever?
This was absolutely brilliant! It was a quick novella but loaded with substance and a fabulous way to pass a short amount of time. Queen’s Academy was beautifully crafted with intriguing historical detail and filled with heart. The characters and storyline were well-written and engaging and there were a few laughs, emotional conflict, drama and suspense, and all-consuming love that surpasses time.
It was a nice surprise to have the main character’s role to be a man; Drake was great. He was smart, compassionate, determined, sweet, and loving. Seamus, his best friend, was a nice quirky, funny addition who was his sounding board and support. Mary’s character, well, she was a queen and carried herself as such. She was bold, brave, and regal. And the time travel-history aspect was done well; it flowed at a steady pace and connected the past to present flawlessly.
Another good story based on time travel. It blends fantasy with history in a way that makes a very interesting story.
Drake is a professor at the Time Travel Academy and has had a thing for Mary Queen of Scots since his first jump. Since he knows what happens to her in real life he is torn between saving her and letting destiny run its course. This is an emotional, short story with intriguing characters and a great ending.
An heart-breaking story to which we all know the end, but what if there was more to the story? What if the legacy of Mary of Scotland was more than history? I loved this story and it get me to browse the rest of the Academy of Time books. It had a very good arrangement with fantasy and history. And even the time’s travel part, that can be quite tricky to pull, had a good dynamic.
What would happen if Queen Mary of Scotland had a chance to fall in love with a man from today?
From Drake’s first time jump he has dreamed of Mary the Queen of Scots. He has watched her grow up and seen all of the pain she has gone through. His obsession with her has dictated his life until one night he is not just a bystander in a dream.
Mary has seen her “guardian angel” since she was a child. Now he is here in a time of distress. Is he real? Will he come again?
Drake knows that the first rule of time travel is that you do not mess with the history’s timeline, but he cannot leave Mary to her fate.
Death by execution.
Skye MacKinnon shares her love of history and especially her fascination with Mary’s in Queen’s Academy: A Mary Queen of Scots Romance (Peryton Press, 2019). I immediately confess to not being familiar with Mary’s story and let me forewarn you that history is harsh. MacKinnon does not change history, but steals time from it. This is after all a book from her “Academy Of Time” series.
Time moves quickly in this novella, but the emotional intensity of Mary’s story still manages to pack a punch. I really cannot say much more other than MacKinnon has a way with making historical facts palatable even when you are crying (laugh). I will also caution you that you have to remember when reading this that women history makers become printable due to unfortunate circumstances.
I received an ARC of this book and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.
This was a great time travel book. I enjoyed the storyline and characters. I found the story interesting and it drew me in. I would recommend reading.

Drake has dreamt of Mary, Queen of Scots, ever since his first time jump. He’s watched her grow up and everything that has happened in her life. Now, years later, Drake is a professor at the Academy and Mary’s time is drawing to an end. Drake has to decide whether he can justify breaking the number one rule of time jumpers. I received an advance copy of this book and voluntarily left a review.
I really enjoyed this time travel book, most in this trope bother me and I was happy to see things were not so cookie cutter. I also was happy to see that the main character was a man and that even though “history” as it was stated in the book stayed true, even though things were changed in a way.

Drake, a professor at the Time Travel Academy, has been dreaming about a beautiful woman for years. When he figures out his dream woman is Mary, Queen of the Scots, he must decide whether he should break all of the time travel rules to save her from her execution.
This was a wonderful short story from the fabulous Ms. MacKinnon. I’m loving these short time travel stories she’s writing.
I received an ARC from the author. This is my honest review.
I don’t read much time travel, it’s scary in that one false move and history can change and probably not for the better. I did however enjoy this one.
Drake has been dreaming of Mary Queen of Scots starting in his second year at the Academy. He’s watched her grow up and up until the time she’s crossing the channel into England, she’s never acknowledged his presence. It’s then she tells him he is her guardian angel, and she always knows when he is there.
He makes one attempt at trying to save Mary from her fate and that fails. Years later his friend Seamus comes up with an idea, it’s not ever going to be sanctioned but Drake has to try.
Past meets present in a history lesson that makes everything personal. With a surprise or two as well.
A short satisfying read, with love, emotions, and tears.
