Sadie has been kidnapped by the Tor, the vindictive alien race who destroyed Thalassic City. As her past, present, and future collides, her worst nightmare looks set to become her shocking new reality.
A deliberate pawn in leader Griselda’s vengeful game, Sadie is horrified to learn the truth about her heritage and the destiny that’s already been mapped out for her. Refusing to cooperate, she … cooperate, she risks paying the ultimate price for her defiance.
Love for Logan is her only motivation to stay alive. Saving him is the only thing that matters—the fate of the world depends upon it. While he may never forgive her, she’s determined to protect him.
Until her dying breath.
Note from the author:
This continues the story from the end of Saven Disclosure. This is not an optional short novel but an essential read if you don’t want to miss out on important plot developments. Please note there is a cliffhanger and it is not a standalone story. You will need to continue the series to find out what is next in store for Sadie and Logan.

It is ridiculous how much I am loving this series! This book is no different!! Sadie has been taken by the Tor and hello she is in for quite the information overload! The Author has blown my mind and I can’t wait to see what happens next!!
I hope this book is proof that the author has learned from past mistakes. Because wow, I was not ready for it to be so polished and thought-out unlike the previous books. Color me happily surprised.
I am especially impressed by Sadie. She annoyed me so much before, being way TSTL and was very much self absorbed. All her annoying habits were toned down in Saven Denial and even next to nonexistent. I even found myself liking her for once. She finally dealt with emotions like a real human being, being confused, terrified and torn from the two lives she’d lived. I love the fact that she refused her old memories because I could honestly relate. Not that I have any lost memories, but thinking if I were in that situation I would do the exact same thing. If you only know one thing and have room for your heart for the people you already know, you wouldn’t want that disproven or changed in any way. I think that matter was written very well and emotionally loaded, as it should have been.
One thing though that befuddles me is the time travel. The reason the Tor did what they did to Sadie seems like a huge amount of work for risk of no reward and like an unnecessarily complicated way to get it accomplished. If they could time travel to wherever and whenever at will, why not just make it easy and remove the third man; go back to before Logan was born and kill his parents. Or even better go back before Saven invaded your planet and warn them. Make sure it doesn’t happen. Sadie seemed like a extremely unreasonable way to get their revenge. It would be like kidnapping and teaching someone to smack some one close to them instead of just doing it yourself.
At the same time, I don’t know how the time travel thing really worked so maybe there was some reason or some restricting rules to time travel so they couldn’t exact revenge themselves. If that was the case however, then we readers needs to be informed about the rules, otherwise it will look like and is a huge plot hole and we will feel like it didn’t make a lick of sense.
I hope the time travel aspect and why Sadie had to be a part of it will be explained in the next book. Most of all I hope Saven Denial wasn’t a fluke and that Saven Defiance will be as well polished and fantastic.
I really enjoyed this latest installment to the Saven series. Sadie’s big reveal was something I had considered might happen from the beginning so it was really interesting to read through how that played out. As unbelievable as some of the science part was, I really enjoyed it once I was able to suspend the disbelief. The technology the Tor have was so cool to imagine!
This novella was awesome, it filled in so much! There was so much that shocked me and worried me. We meet the Tor…another alien race, and they are enemies of the Saven. They have time travel technology. It’s so interesting. I don’t want to give away too much, but there so much we learn about Sadie in this novella!!! Next, on to Saven Defiance (book 3)!!! This is such an awesome series!!! Have I said that before? Only a million times.
I received an ARC from the author for an honest review
This was really good! I have no idea how the next book will start considering not everyone reads novellas. This book was so important though and had so much needed information.
That ending though… Maaaan

[ I hate that they are wary of her. I love Hayden and neve but understand why they are nervous (hide spoiler)]
An exceptional addition to the series! I didn’t think anything could top the ending of Saven Disclosure, but boy, was I wrong! I loved how Saven Denial explains Sadie’s past (and future). The time travel aspect was an exciting new addition! After reading this, I believe Siobhan could write an awesome series based solely on time travel! What I loved most about Saven Denial are the new characters that were introduced. A few things I hope to see in the future books include: a romance between Haydn and Izzy, I hope Griselda’s undoing is slow and painful, and lastly, my most unrealistic wish is that Axton can somehow become real so I can have a chance with him. 🙂 If you are wondering what on earth I am talking about, read the book!!!
Another amazing addition to the Saven Series! Siobhan Davis is definitely one of my favorite authors! Saven Denial was so good! I don’t even know where to begin, I loved it so much! It didn’t even feel like a novella because so much happens, and the whole time I was reading it, I felt so anxious to find out what happens, and I am really looking forward to the next book. I hate waiting! The thing I love about Davis’ writing is that her world building is so vivid, and I love the unique settings she creates; I can picture them perfectly in my mind as I’m reading. I love that she goes into multiple types of aliens; it is really cool to read about the different species. I love all the action and sci-fi aspects! I’ve always loved Sadie, but I definitely was loving her more in this book; she was thinking everything I would have been thinking in this type of situation, and she was really strong with how she handled everything. This whole series is just wonderful!
Saven Denial picks up right where the 2nd book ended, and I recommend reading this book before you continue on in the series because there is definitely a lot of crucial information needed, and it’s an excellent book anyway! So, Sadie has been kidnapped by the Tor, and they are holding her because she factors into their plans to dominate the universe. Along the way, Sadie finds out some much needed information about herself and the situation, and I was shocked at the horrible things done to Sadie. Griselda, leader of the Tor, is out of her mind! I’m thinking she’s so vindictive because there definitely has to be some type of heartbreak that happened to her to make her the way she is now.
So, there is sort of a love triangle started in this book, and although I’m not a big fan of love triangles, Siobhan Davis does them in such a way that I don’t mind them so much, and the main reason I don’t like them is I feel so bad for the person not chosen. Axton is one of the Tor, and I don’t want to give to much away, so I won’t say quite what happens with Sadie and Him, but I don’t really feel like Axton is an option for Sadie. He felt a bit unstable to me, and I think he has deep mommy issues, and he doesn’t quite know himself yet. He needs to get a backbone also! I feel the whole thing between Sadie and him is a Stockholm syndrome type of thing, and I felt like the feelings between the two aren’t entirely based in fact. I really feel for him, but I am for Logan the whole way, and I feel like Logan and Sadie have been thorough so much, and they still manage to find each other. So sweet! I need the next book now!!!!! Please!
The ending of book two left my insides twisted into all sorts of odd shapes due to the anticipation. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that I jumped at my advance read of Denial as soon as it appeared on my Kindle. I needed answers, and I needed them as soon as I could get my hands on them.
It is safe to say, I was not disappointed by this one. It is short and sweet, continuing things on whilst also leaving me ready for more. I have so many new questions, there are so many things I want – no, need – to know.
I’ll start with a little disclaimer. I have this insane love-hate relationship with series novellas. Due to them being so short, I generally find it much harder to reach a high level of enjoyment. I need everything to hit me at once, otherwise I feel as though I have read empty space. Through this, it is rare for me to give high ratings to such reads. I can think of but a handful of stories that managed to pulled real emotion out of me in a small number of pages. Fortunately, this is one of those reads. This one does everything a short story – any story – should do.
Continuing on where Disclosure ended, Denial helps us to deal with all those post cliff-hanger questions. What happens next? What did the events in book two mean? What had brought about the events? There are many ‘what’ questions that need answering, and this story works to answer them.
At this point, I should make an important notice. If you wish to read the entire series, you need to read this novella. This is not something you can overlook. The events in this novella are extremely important for the continuance of the series.
Extremely important – I hear you scream. Just how important? In all honesty, the use of ‘extremely’ probably plays it down a bit. This tells an entire story. Hell, a full-length book could have been made out of it. We find out so much more about Tor, about Sadie’s past, about the future. Oh, wait, didn’t I say we have time travel? Well yes, yes we do. It’s not the hardcore time travel you read about in the heavy science fiction books (Siobhan Davis speaks of this at the end of the book, highlighting how she writes young adult science fiction which requires the suspension of believe and therefore needs you to approach it with a different mind-set), but it is enough to add a new plot twist to the story.
It is no surprise a fourth book has been added to the series.
Honestly, so much comes to light in this. As I’ve said, it’s answers and questions throughout. We find out plenty yet we also have so much more we want to find out. I really did enjoy this short story – it almost felt like a different tangent, a good tangent, through creating an entirely different alien species and plot rather than focusing upon the main Saven storyline.
Part of me is a little bit annoyed with the potential setup for things to come in the romance theme, though. This, of course, is because I’m not the biggest of romance lovers – as readers of my reviews will know. I’m dealing with it in this story, and I’m not running from it. I welcomed this subplot, but I do have one thing to beg of the author. Please, please, please, avoid a love triangle. I cannot begin to explain how much I dislike them. I’m not saying such a thing will happen – I have my fingers crossed that the way I’m reading into things ensures such will not happen – but I thought I would beg anyway.
Also, that ending!
It is another brilliant cliff-hanger. It didn’t hit me as hard as the ending of Disclosure, but I’m once again excited for what is to come. I cannot wait to find out what comes next.
Also, as a final note, I would like to thank Siobhan Davis for sending me an advance read. It is safe to say, I’m thoroughly enjoying being part of her advance read team for the Saven series – they’re certainly worthwhile reads! If you enjoy the genre, get to reading them all.
I must say I normally loath novellas in a series because they are so short. I rather have a ton of pages and this one made me feel satisfied with the fact that it is a novella, although I imagine if the author wanted to she could have made a full blown novel out of it. I love how Siobhan mixes in time travel into this book and allows you to see into the past and even somewhat in the future, but I wont speak anymore on that as I despise spoilers. You want to know you will just have to read it 😉
I was provided an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this novella in the Saven series. I’m a big fan of futuristic novels and I enjoyed the science fiction/fantasy aspects that this particular author lends to her dystopian books. I find Sadie to be a character that the reader can connect with and relate to and that makes you more invested in the story and what happens to her. I was horrified by some of the things Sadie finds out about herself in this novella. It helps explain so much that was missing or confusing in the first to novels and I have to thank the author for including this novella into the series to help us fill the gaps. It was also very fascinating and engaging to see some other relationships Sadie had and how she seems to be the same passionate and loyal person no matter her circumstances. We do have another cliffhanger to keep us antsy until the next book releases, but as an avid reader, this is nothing new! I’m just that much more excited to read the next book when it comes out.
