Man, when you think of alien abduction stories, you don’t think of aliens who can reach through space and time and just yank you through a portal so that they can use you. Nor do you think of aliens who get high off the nectar that a woman produces when she is aroused and orgasms. Unless, of course, you are Sophie Kisker, in which case you do think of those things and you do decide to share your thoughts and ideas with the world.
Abriela is a human nectar slave. She’s chained in a cheap nectar house for hours every day so that the Anterrin men can get their high off of using her. But one day, she makes a customer unhappy, and Abriela loses it when her master comes to reprove her about it.
Kirin is a researcher. He’s trying to figure out how to keep the half human half Anterrin children from dying from a terrible disease. He watches over a lot of pregnant human women. One night, when his twin brother Damek comes to pick him up at his clinic, they find an injured and bleeding nectar slave outside the clinic. She tells them that her name is Abriela and her master thinks she’s dead.
There is just so much going on in this book. Some of it scares me for characters to come and worries me about what’s going to happen with the trios that we have already seen. I mean, things are pretty terrible right now, and who knows what’s going to happen in the future. I admire Abriela because she is so strong. She goes through a lot, just being a human woman trapped as a nectar slave. I can’t imagine being a free woman to being one that is forced to have 30+ orgasms a day because some man gets high on what’s between my legs. I like Kirin, but I think that he’s a little idealistic and naive. He’s definitely a sweet summer child. Damek seems the more grounded of the two.
I need more books in this series. I can’t wait to see what’s to come!
Nectar for the Gods, Book 2. Can this be the beginning of the end?
Abriella’s so tired. A nectar slave in a public house is an unending cycle of misery. Up early, on “duty” for a third of the day, suffering the drugging, nectar sipping and all that entails. But Stella is her biggest worry. Disobedience to Diro means solitary confinement, complete with sensory deprivation, for as long as Diro sees fit. Now Stella’s totally unresponsive. Diro’s said if she doesn’t perform, he’ll “remove” her. While Abri’s not quite sure what that means, there’s no way it’s good. Then, without warning, one move turns Abri’s world upside down. Stella, Diro, and his minions are dead. She knows the penalties. She doesn’t care. She runs and runs and runs. When Kirin steps outside his clinic, he finds Abri, collapsed and bleeding. He knows exactly what she is. He, too, knows the penalty for an escaped slave and any who harbor her. When his twin, Damek, shows up, what can they do? The decision’s not that hard to make. But can Abri give the absolute obedience the twins demand? There’s no doubt of the consequences if she can’t. Just as her world begins to settle, another earthquake rips her world apart. Only now it’s not just Abri’s life at stake. It’s not just Kirin or Damek either. Is there any salvation this time? The implications are far greater than anyone could have thought. Is there any way to save anyone? Will this be the end for Abri, Kirin, Damek, every Anterrin in existence? Or will the ancient gods intervene? The only thing that’s certain is Anterrin life will never again be the same!
I didn’t know what to expect when Sophie Kisker started this series. But after reading the first book, I was hooked. This second book changes everything. Abri is one of the strongest heroines I think I’ve ever read. Pulled through a hole in space, landing in a horrific land where she faces a gruesome, hopeless life, she finds the strength to not only endure but overcome. She hates everything Anterrin, wants her old life on Earth back. Is that even possible? Yet she perseveres. Kirin and Damek are NOT your average Anterrins. Are they hot? OMG, yes! Each is incredibly talented in his own way. As a doctor and researcher, Kirin’s intelligent, compassionate, empathetic. But, despite his medical ethics, is he really a soft touch? Damek’s a true mystery. Part of the royal court, even if in just an advisory role, you’d think he’d be an unrelenting taskmaster. But is he? I thought I had this story figured out so many times. Every time I did, Ms. Kisker threw another curve ball. This is literally a twisty maze where you never know what’s coming next. I adore Sophie Kisker’s books. They’re edgy, unconventional, full of twists and turns that keep you guessing to the last page. I absolutely loved this book! Congratulations, Ms. Kisker. This is another winner. It deserves nothing less than five stars!
A final note. This is an ADULT book. It contains explicit language and some nonconsensual/dubious consensual sexual scenes. If you don’t enjoy this genre, this may not be the book for you. There are book synopses and reviews available on Goodreads and Amazon. Use these resources. I urge you to leave a review, but with a proviso. Please don’t leave a negative review when you know you won’t enjoy the book. It’s not fair to the author. She works hard to provide a quality work product. If you know you’ll object to a book’s subject matter before you buy it, you’re doing yourself and the author an extreme disservice..
Thanks for reading my review and happy reading!
This is the second full length book in a new series by Sophie Kisker taking place on the world of Anteros.
I really enjoyed this book. It shows more about the world, the people and the politics that divide the country. Tension is rising in Anteros and that has a great impact on the main characters. I will not say anymore because I don’t want to spoil things.
I loved the relationship between the characters. It felt very natural. They are characters who aren’t perfect, but that always makes them more real. They try to make the best of a difficult situation and find out things about themselves they weren’t aware of before. They all have a journey they go through.
It is a real original story with dark themes, but there is also humor, sweet, tender and sexy moments
Another rift opens, another woman pulled through to Anteros.
And straight into the nightmare of a human nectar slave. They have no rights, they are treated abominably, and are discarded like trash if they don’t “function” anymore.
The nectar slave trade is sanctioned and cultivated by the King of Anteros, it is a mainstay of the country’s economy. Open criticism of the system is punishable by death.
But there is an underground movement, trying to do whatever they can to save as many of the women as possible.
In this climate of double standards, outrageous experiments, and sadistic games, one woman practically falls into the hands of two brothers that try to save her from the horrible, and probably short life, of a nectar slave.
To their astonishment they develop a strong and immediate bond. But the outside influences become ever more hostile and dangerous.
This is a story that will take you to the boundaries of alien/human behavior and beyond.
It is written with integrity and a strong voice.
Prepare to be shocked, brought to tears, angry and sad. But also hopeful. You never know!
READING PROGRESS
I think that “Saved” might currently be my favorite in the Nectar for the Gods series. Granted, that bar keeps moving as Sophie Kisker puts out another stellar story that will leave you rapidly tapping those pages. While each story is a standalone there’s an overarching element tying all the stories together, namely the human women and their slavery. But with that, there’s also that romantic element that we’ve all come to love in her stories – whether that’s with one man or two (TWINS!) sexy aliens. If you are looking for a sexy ménage heavy on the sci fi fantasy and a touch of the taboo, then you definitely want to check out this series.
