Cowboy to the rescue Once upon a time, Sheriff Cash Hawkins left his simple life for something bigger—and came home with a broken heart. Now he has everything he needs right here in Oak Bluff, California—his job, his dog, and a quiet ranching town best explored on the back of a horse. Olivia Belle believes in fairy tales—just not for herself. So when her boyfriend drops to one knee at his … drops to one knee at his sister’s wedding with a proposal that is more business than romance, she hightails it out of San Francisco in search of the only evidence she knows that true love exists—her grandparents’ lost love letters from fifty years ago.
When Olivia speeds into his town like a modern-day Cinderella in her ball gown and glass slippers, Cash’s careful existence is finally thrown for a loop. Maybe the answer Olivia’s looking for is in Oak Bluff, but the life she ran from is more than 200 miles away. As for Cash . . . he knows a thing or two about being left on bended knee. Olivia Belle could be his happily ever after . . . if this runaway bridesmaid doesn’t run off with his heart.

Wow, just wow. I absolutely loved this book. This is the first book that I have read by this author but, it definitely won’t be the last. I love the way this author writes. The story flows seamlessly. there are no abrupt stops and starts. I love the storyline and the wonderful characters. Sheriff Cash was on the job when Olivia came speeding into his life but, it wasn’t just her car that was racing. When their eyes met it was his heart that he needed to slow down. I can’t say enough about this amazing book. What I can say is , this book is a must read. I know that I can’t wait to read the next book in this amazing series.
Saved by the Cowboy is book 1.5 in A.J. Pine’s Crossroads Ranch series and it’s such a fun novella! This can be read a standalone.
Sheriff Cash Hawkins and Olivia Bell had sparks right from the beginning. Even though this is a quick read, you’ll find yourself rooting for these two! Cash has been hurt by love in the past and Olivia has her own issues when it comes to relationships. She’s a runner when it comes to commitment. Will she run again or take a chance on love?
Saved by the Cowboy was a very cute, fun, and enjoyable read! I also loved Cash’s dog Dixie!
Sheriff Cash Hawkins was expecting a quiet Saturday night enjoying his favorite barbeque sandwich when a Volkswagen Bug comes speeding down Main Street. Olivia Belle, dressed in a ball gown, without a driver’s license is in a hurry to check into the local bed and breakfast before the door is locked.
Olivia is on a mission to find the letter’s her Grandfather wrote to her Grandmother while he was serving in Vietnam. She thinks if she can read the letter’s she can find the secret to love.
A.J. does a great job developing the character and telling an engaging story. I would hope she is setting the stage for further stories based on the two characters.
A good short read
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
What a great story. I just loved the chemistry between Olivia and Cash. The banter between them was hilarious at times. These two characters will keep you glued to your e-reader (or book). The book was over before I knew it. I was so enchanted with them that I couldn’t put the book down.
This book contained such a powerful insight and answers to Olivia’s questions that I probably will re-read this story many times. The dual POV really contained a wonderful glimpse into what these two characters were going through and what they had gone through in the past.
I highly recommend this story to anyone!!!
Cash Hawkins is content with his ranch, dog , and small town life until Olivia Belle crashes into town . Good page turning story in this Crossroad Ranch series book. Will be looking up the rest of the series.
Ebook from Netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.
5 Stars for “Saved by the Cowboy”
This is a cute, quick read! I enjoyed Cash and Olivia a lot. I can’t wait to read more about Luke and Lily and the rest of the gang!
I’ve been a big fan of A.J. Pine’s Crossroads Ranch series since I picked up Second Chance Cowboy earlier this year. I devoured Tough Luck Cowboy and anxiously awaited the third book. What I forgot was that I had a novella just sitting there waiting to be read. Oops.
Saved by the Cowboy was a great, quick read. It fed my need for more in the Crossroads Ranch series and it didn’t matter a bit that I read it out of order. Cash and Olivia’s story was super cute and I really enjoyed it. They had a great meet cute, oodles of chemistry and plenty of swoons, all packed into a little over 100 pages. This was a total feel-good romance and I cheesy grinned my way through the biggest part of it. I adored the way things progressed with their relationship and I also liked the secondary story with Olivia and her search for her grandparents’ letters.
I thought Saved by the Cowboy was a great addition to the Crossroads Ranch series. Now I can go back to waiting on Walker’s story in Hard Loving Cowboy! I can’t wait to get my hands on the last Everett brother!
FAVORITE QUOTES
“I mighta said something about being a little broken, but I sure as hell never told you that you needed fixing, and anyone who ever gave you that idea is a damned fool.”
“Are you gonna kiss me again, Sheriff?”
“Every chance I get, Miss Belle.”
This was a nice quick read and I loved returning to the Crossroads Ranch world for a visit. Cash and Olivia’s story was just the right length and I also enjoyed the teases for the next book!
3.75 stars– SAVED BY THE COWBOY is instalment 1.5 in AJ Pine’s contemporary, adult CROSSROADS RANCH romance series. This is Oak Bluff’s sheriff Cash Hawkins, and San Francisco events planner Olivia Belle’s storyline. SAVED BY THE COWBOY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalment is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Olivia and Cash) SAVED BY THE COWBOY follows the building relationship between Oak Bluff’s sheriff Cash Hawkins, and San Francisco events planner Olivia Belle. A quiet Saturday night found Cash Hawkins stopping a speeding car with the most beautiful bridesmaid he has ever seen. A broken glass slipper, and a twisted ankle found Cash hoping for his own happily ever after but happily ever afters were meant for fairy tales and never real life.
Olivia Belle was running from quite possibly the biggest mistake of her life in the hopes of finding her grandparent’s love letters in the small town of Oak Bluff, California, where her grandmother was born and raised. Meeting Sheriff Cash Hawkins sent Olivia into a tail-spin of possibilities, a tail-spin that started with a marriage proposal from a man back home.
The relationship between Olivia and Cash is quick to develop as Olivia battles her attraction to Cash knowing her time in Oak Bluff is drawing to an end. Cash wants something more than a one-night stand but Olivia is quick to point out that she has responsibilities back home. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
The colorful secondary and supporting characters include many of the people who live and work in Oak Bluff. We are introduced to Cash’s mother Lucinda; recently divorced pastry chef Lily Green, and rancher Luke Everett. Lily and Luke’s story line is next in TOUGH LUCK COWBOY.
SAVED BY THE COWBOY is a quick read; a sweet and sexy romance; a fun and flirty love story that is a bit of a departure from the ‘cowboy’ scenario. The premise is spirited; the romance is enchanting; the characters are feisty and adorable
Saved by the Cowboy by A.J. Pine is book 1.5 in the Crossroads Ranch series. This is the story of Sheriff Cash Hawkins and Olivia Bell. I haven’t yet read the previous book, so for me this was a standalone book.
Olivia believes in true love, romance and when her current boyfriends proposal to her it feels more of a business / non-love deal. So she takes to running away to Oak Bluff, California and to reading her grandparents love letters to reset herself. Cash knows a thing or two about a broken heart and has taken to focus on his job but things start to change when a face driving Olivia comes to town.
This was such a great story! Loved it!
This quick novella was a great addition to this series. I’m not usually one for insta-love stories but it just absolutely works with this book!
Cash is the sheriff of Oak Bluff. When he pulls over a woman speeding through his town in a gown with no ID, he should have known that Olivia would shake him up. Olivia is running to Oak Bluff to find the letters her grandfather wrote to her grandmother during their epic love story. These two embark on their own epic love story and while this story is short, I loved the evolution that took place for them in their brief time.
Cash’s book has made me super excited for book two in this series!!
*This is my voluntary review of an advanced reader copy*
Sheriff Cash Hawkins is expecting the same dull Saturday evening he has every week in his little town, but after he spots a speeding VW bug blazing through town, things start to take on a more exciting look, especially after his eyes land on the driver!
Olivia Belle believes in happily ever-afters, but for some reason she feels like she is jinxed when it comes to them, she wants what her grandparents had, many years of happy, wedded bliss. But every time she thinks she might of found it, her instincts kick in and she runs, because it just doesn’t feel right, it doesn’t have the magical feel she has heard about. When she learns that her grandparents long lost love letters could be in Oak Bluff, she decides to go in search of them, certain that they hold all the keys to true love… and she finds so much more than she ever expected!
Saved by the Cowboy is a sweet and heartfelt tale that is sure to leave you mystified by the powers of love! This little novella is not only enthralling, but also quite uplifting, proving that love can be found in some of the most unexpected places, even if you have to go on a road trip to find it! Watching Olivia and Cash find love was an enjoyable journey, I mean what is not to love about a handsome cowboy coming to the rescue, and bringing a happily ever after along with him. I highly recommend this one, it’s sure to leave your heart happy!
