*Author’s Note: This book was previously published under the title, Love’s Mending Embrace while it was a part of the First Street Church Kindle World as well as Promised to a Soldier in The Rockwood Springs Series. Both versions were set in WWI but the book has been edited to remove references to that world and era and has been updated with extensive new content, characters and historical information to reflect the civil war era. Names and places have been changed for historical accuracy.

I found this a very moving story of a family from the Civil War period. I think it a very possible true-to-live happening for that time period. It touched my heart. Glad it had an HEA.
The Civil War was such a time of sacrifice on both sides. Sometimes we tend to think of people of the South being the “bad people” because they lost and they were the slaveowners anyway. But there were a lot of good people and they suffered greatly. The author does a great job in this book of showing how individuals and families personally suffered. Of course soldiers suffered greatly, even horrifically, and Nathan was one of those. He is captured and it doesn’t “gloss over” what he suffered (although it isn’t graphic!). My heart just went out to him for what he had to endure! Then, when he came home to his beloved Faith, how hard it was to “make the switch” to civilian life. That was so hard for all the soldiers! In the mean time, Faith and her family had had to suffer all that time too, just getting enough to eat and dealing with daily life. They were once very wealthy and this was hard but they were up to the challenge! Faith never waivered in her believe that Nathan would come back to her – that must have been hard! When he did come back, he was different, and she tried to be patient! A wonderful story with many takeaways!
Breathtaking! Loved it!
I enjoyed some aspects of this story. Faith is a woman of faith and love. Nathan is so focused on what happened to him in captivity, that he has lost sight of the future. The story is well written, but how he was delivered from his prison, should have inspired him instead of sent him into the morose of PTSD. Faith knows that the love of God and her love will overcome. Nathan just has to accept his fate and move on to his higher purpose. This story is about accepting our past so we can move on with our future.

This book is absolutely beautiful! The characters are wonderful especially Faith. I loved Faiths’s outlook on life and her faith in God. This plot was beautiful and gave insight on how hard life is for anyone fighting a war including the family members. I loved how the author weaved God throughout the story, so beautiful.

Can faith save you? And if does is that all you need? Does forgiveness need to part of it? Do we need to forgive ourselves too? Highly recommend this book as this topic is shown in a very entertaining and enlightening way!!!

South Caroline 1864 The harshness and heartache of the civil war come to life in this emotional story of faith, indurance beyond measure and love that would substain in the end.
Faith Abernathy and her family had gone from wealth to poverty and just trying to have enough food not to starve. She tried to stay busy so thoughts of her fiance’ Nathan Maddox and her worry would ebb. He’d been gone half a year and it seemed like forever,
Nathan had been taken by Union soldiers who had tortured him beyond endurance. But he was good at turning off his emotions and he had survived and finally made it home.
How he made it home and then dealt with everything he had endured is beyond words. This story just grabbed my heart and it will your’s too.
Such a wonderful story that shows all things are possible and what it takes to survive.
I really enjoyed this book. The plot is about an enduring love in the midst of trials. Faith lived up to her name as she had faith in her fiance, Nathan. Nathan had a rough upbringing, but was able to overcome that past with Christ. I love their faith in their love for one another, faith in Christ and their faith in each other. This book had some tender moments, tense moments and action. It was a short story, but it was a very good one. I recommend to those that love sweet romances that overcome trials.
Arresting action and drama.

What a wonderful start to a new series! This book is absolutely awesome. It grabs you on the first page and doesn’t let go. Come meet Faith and Nathan and read a wonderful heartwarming story. It has a valuable lesson about having to forgive yourself for the mistakes and hurts from your past before you can be truly free. It is possible with help from God.
Faith and Nathan are preparing for their wedding when he left to fight in the war. After a terrible time he comes home. Can they reconnect and pick up their life as planned?
This was an entertaining Christian read. Everything what we have to endure will change us but do we let it change the connection between our loved ones?
