I am sad that this is the last book in the Morgan Dane series. I have loved the books I’ve read in this series and will miss the characters and the relationships that have developed between them.
While a romance mystery, the romance portion is not overwhelming and just adds flavor to the main theme of the story. While the relationship between Morgan and Lance is a solid and healthy one, it has been interesting to see how Lincoln and Olivia’s romantic relationship is evolving. While that’s not the basis of the story, I believe the mystery that makes up this amazing book helps their relationship reach a new level.
The mystery is good, but not unpredictable. I’m not sure everyone will be left scratching their head and wondering who is guilty. But it’s still a good ride while you’re flipping through the pages.
Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
In the 6th thriller in this series, Morgan Dane and PI Lance Kruger investigate the mysterious disappearance of Olivia Cruz.
Olivia is a former reporter who now writes true crime books. Her boyfriend is Lincoln Sharp, part of the investigative team. Sharp and the others are sure that she didn’t leave her home willingly … but who would have taken her and why?
As they dig through Olivia’s life, they are shocked to discover a connection between her current book research on two cold murder cases and the suicide of one of Morgan’s prospective clients.
Investigating leads them to multiple suspects. The foursome realize that someone wants this case stopped at all costs .. even the deaths of Morgan and Lance.
As with all the books I’ve read by this author, this one is well-written with lots of action..a real page turner. Although part of a series, it is easily read as a stand alone. However, if Romantic Suspense is your thing, I highly recommend starting at the beginning. These are all terrific characters, all finely drawn, and involved in exceptionally crafted story lines filled with twists and turns.
Many thanks to the author / Montlake Romance / Netgalley for the digital copy of this Romantic Suspense. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
NOTE: This is the last of this particular series. But for fans of this author and this series … a new series is scheduled to appear in 2020.
Absolutely Suspenseful and Intense .
I volunteered to read and review a readers copy through Netgallery of Save Your Breath . I’ll start with I absolutely love this story . It was sensational from the start to the very end . Olivia Cruz is taken by a masked man and it’s up to her boyfriend Private Investigator Lincoln Sharp and attorney Morgan Dane and her boyfriend private investigator Lance Kruger , to figure out what happened to her and why . This storys characters are fantastic Olivia is a strong and brave investigative reporter . Morgan is a brilliant and strong attorney but so much more . Lance is a tough as nails and brave man but a softy when it comes to Morgan and the girls . Then there’s Lincoln former detective total tough guy that will do anything to find and rescue Olivia even if it breaks the law .
What an outstanding story . The story is action packed and has so many twists and turns . One of the best stories . This is the sixth book in the Morgan Dane series . I highly recommend taking the time to read and enjoy this story and the entire series all are five star reads in my opinion .
Another great book in this series!
Loved all the books in this series. Author is awesome
I love the Morgan Dane series and the sixth book in the series is no exception! I have heard this is the last book in the series and really hope that’s not true! I love Melinda Leigh’s writing style – the characters are likeable and the plot captures your attention (making it hard to stop reading once you start).
I’ve really enjoyed watching Morgan and Lance’s relationship evolve throughout the series and have enjoyed reading the reaction that Morgan’s girls have had toward their new soon-to-be-stepdad. I was also delighted when Lincoln found a new love interest in Olivia. This book focuses on Olivia’s kidnapping and the lengths that Morgan, Lance, and Lincoln with go to to find her.
Each Morgan Dane book is better than the last and this one was a thrill ride. This one keeps you guessing right along with Morgan, Lance and Sharp right until the end.
This time the mystery involves Olivia, who suddenly goes missing and there are very few clues as to why she’s no where to be found. I love how Melinda Leigh writes from various characters point of view, so the reader knows Olivia is in a serious race against the clock. I was holding my breath through several scenes and couldn’t read fast enough!
Though I missed more interaction with the girls, the non-stop action was breathtaking. All these leads they chased down, to lead to an unpredictable finale, great plot!
Another great story in the continuing saga of Morgan Dane.
I’ve read all of the Morgan Dane books to date, and they have steadily improved over the course of the series, so when the opportunity to read this for review came up, I was very eager to join in! I have to say this is the best one of the series to date!
I loved the conflict between trying to solve the case and deal with things in Morgan’s personal life. I liked that we got to see the balancing act between those two demands, as well as the balancing act between Morgan and Logan for parenting. I was especially touched by the scene at the end of the book with Logan and the girls! That was such an “Awww!” moment for me!
The case wasn’t particularly unique, but what was unique to me about it was the motive behind it. It was not something that I have ever encountered previously, so that made it pretty special for me! I loved Olivia’s ingenuity and grit! She became a much more fleshed out character for me with this book and I’m looking forward to seeing more of her in future books!
I loved the closure that we got with Morgan and Logan’s relationship in this book, and hope that those scenes don’t signal the end of the series! I am enjoying this too much to have the series end now!
I really enjoy the Morgan Dane books, but be warned; this is not the place to jump into the series. Start at the beginning and read through, because by the time you get to this book, the sixth in the series, the principal characters will start to feel like friends and you’ll be much more invested in the story here when Lincoln Sharpe’s girlfriend Olivia is kidnapped at the very beginning of the book.
Morgan and her two partners in their PI business, Lincoln and Morgan’s partner Lance, spend most of the book chasing red herrings trying to find Olivia. Persistence and good old-fashioned detective work eventually pay off, however, and there’s a dramatic confrontation to rescue Olivia and save her life. I have to say the reason she was kidnapped was totally a new one on me and, as a writer myself, made me laugh, but it’s true that publishing can be as cutthroat a business as any other and with a big contract at stake, the motive was certainly established.
Long-term readers of the series who are invested in Morgan and Lance as a couple will find the ending of this one very satisfying. I’m not sure if it’s the case, but this does read rather as though the series is ending here, and if it does I’d say it’s a pretty good spot to close it out. I very much enjoyed the read, and the series overall. I give it five stars, but with the proviso that this isn’t a standalone and I don’t think you’ll enjoy it all that much if you haven’t read the rest of the series.
Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book for review via NetGalley.
Wow. Just wow. Olivia is kidnapped and Sharp is at his wits end. The woman he has spent the last few months dating, yet keeping at arms length, is gone. Morgan and Lance take a step back in this latest novel as Olivia and Sharp take on a bigger role. And you have mist definitely not seen Sharp like this before. As the team desperately searches for even a hint of a motive, a suspect, a far fetched theory, Olivia faces the nightmare of being held against her will, scared to death and desperately clinging to the hope that Lincoln will find her. He comforts her in the cold dark room she is in, helping her stay strong. Lance and Morgan’s wedding creeps closer with every day, they find themselves with the possibility of having to prospone it. The friends they love and cherish are in pain, one is very sick and another is missing, more than likely not to be found alive. Their strength and determination though will see them through even this and you will hopefully love it as much as I have. I’m not even completely sure if this is the end, though I am pleased to say that if it is I am satisfied with this final chapter. Hopefully it’s not! Well done to the Author, action pact, emotional and satisfying in every way.
Save Your Breath is book 6 in the Morgan Dane series by Melinda Leigh. All of the books can be read as standalone books, but you guys know I love a good romantic suspense series, so I’m going to tell you it’s worth it to read them all and read them all in order. If you have Kindle Unlimited, there’s really no reason NOT to read this series. Or this author’s other books.
In Save Your Breath, Morgan and Lance are working hard to find Lincoln Sharp’s girlfriend, Olivia Cruz. She’s disappeared in a mysterious manner with very few clues for the gang to follow. Can they find her before it’s too late?
The thing I loved most about this book is Lincoln and Olivia. I’m well beyond the age to be considered a new adult, so the fact that these characters are finding love at a more mature age really appealed to me. Their hesitancy in labeling their relationship and taking it into more serious territory is definitely understandable as both characters have been shaped and burned by past life experiences. Sometimes it takes a pretty big life event to remind us that the future isn’t guaranteed for any of us and that we should always make every moment count.
NICUnurse’s Rating: I’m a pretty big fan of Melinda Leigh’s books. In my opinion, she writes pretty great, and some pretty twisted, romantic suspense books. She leaves just enough breadcrumbs scattered around that the reader isn’t quite sure how to make them all connect until the very end without throwing in too many extraneous details. And if a book keeps me up reading when I really should be sleeping because I just HAVE to know how it ends…well, that’s a great story! As you guessed, this one did just that. Her characters are also varied and multifaceted in this series, yet they all are able to come together as a family, even though some of them are not related by blood. I give Save Your Breath by Melinda Leigh 4.5 out of 5 stars!
Save Your Breath is another edge of your seat, thrill ride by Melinda Leigh. It never ceases to amaze me how every story in this series continues to keep getting better and better. The author not only cranks out hit after hit but also seems to take each story to the next level!
This story is Book 6 in the Morgan Dane series and while I’m sure it stands perfectly fine on its own, these stories are all amazing and the entire back story continues to grow and develop so I do recommend reading them all.
In this installment, the focus is on Olivia’s disappearance. Olivia and Sharp have developed a relationship in the past stories and the team races to save her before it’s too late. This was an exciting addition that kept me riveted throughout!
Attorney Morgan Dane and P.I. Lance Kruger are several weeks away from their wedding when true crime writer Olivia Cruz disappears. Lance’s partner, Lincoln Sharp, has been involved with Olivia and has no idea where she is. There are no clues to her disappearance, but Sharp knows she would not have missed an appointment with her mother unless something was terribly wrong. They begin to search through the two cases that Olivia was investigating, hoping that they will find a connection. Morgan and Lance spend as much time as possible with her three children while their live-in nanny, Gianna, suffers a health scare while waiting for a kidney transplant. It is obvious that someone doesn’t want them searching for Olivia as a bomb is placed near their office. Will the information as to who may have abduct/ted her arrive too late? Ms. Leigh writes well-rounded, action-packed mysteries with continuing characters that have made this one of my all-time favorite series. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
Olivia has been kidnapped and Sharp is going crazy!
Lincoln Sharp never realised just how much he cared for Olivia until he was faced with the possibility that he would never get to see her again. There are not many clues as to what happened to her. All they found was a piece of rubber, a bloody print on a door jamb with a broken nail with pink nail polish, and her earrings on the garage floor. With so little to go by, Lance and Morgan are committed to helping Sharp find his woman.
It is a true journey of dedication and investigative prowess that drives our characters to discovering what happened to Olivia. Never a dull moment! Remember… we are only two weeks away from Lance and Morgan’s wedding. With wedding details still waiting to be handled and three adorable girls to corral, Morgan and Lance are hopping back and forth between the chase for Olivia and handling their lives.
I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Thanks to the publisher for sharing a copy with me.
This must have been the best book in the series. It was really devastating to how Sharp suffered. He deserves so much more after always helping others. And there wasn’t really anything to go on after ……. went missing. Nobody could help with insides or point the investigation in the right direction. I’m not sure I wouldn’t have given up in ….. place. And I definitely didn’t see the real mastermind behind the scenes. Everybody should read this series!
What I love about the Morgan Dane Series is that just as with your favorite television series, there is a long standing story developing in the background. In this series it is Morgan’s life as a single mother of three and lawyer who helps a PI Lance Krueger (love interest) solve mysteries/crimes. Then each story within the series is a different mystery, like each episode of a TV series. This book does not disappoint! This can be read as a standalone however, it’s enhanced by having read all of the stories sequentially.
Save Your Breath is about the disappearance of Olivia a reporter and crime writer who may have caught someone’s attention while digging for information on old crimes. Olivia, who has been dating Lincoln Sharp a private investigator, goes missing. Now it is up to Lance, Sharp and Morgan to find out where Olivia is. Will they get to her before it’s too late?
Melinda Leigh does not disappoint with this book!
I received an advanced reader copy of this book by Montlake Publishing. I voluntarily submit an honest reader review.
This 6th book in the Morgan Dane series does not disappoint. It is a suspenseful, exciting, romantic thriller, whose fast action and smart, resourceful characters will have you holding your breath while you are kept glued to the pages. Lawyer-PI team, Morgan Dane and Lance Kruger, are in the midst of planning their wedding when Lance’s boss and best friend, Lincoln Sharp, discovers his reporter/author girlfriend, Olivia Wade, is missing. The interaction between the various characters, their worries, fears, emotions and insecurities are all so realistic you can not help but become invested in their lives. It is a gripping story that has many twists, thrilling action, breath taking danger and heart-warming emotions. This storyline can be read as a stand-alone, but I would recommend reading the whole series in order to get the nuances and growth of the character relationships.
I received this early copy from Montlake publishers via NetGalley. This in no way influenced my review and all opinions expressed are solely my own.
In this last adventure about Morgan Dane and Lance Kruger they are in a race to save true crime writer Olivia Cruz who has been kidnapped. Lincoln Sharp Olivia’s boyfriend is desperate to find her. While investigating they uncover shocking secrets about old murder cases. This series has been one of my favorites and I’m sad to see it end but I know there will be greater things coming in the future.
