This is another fabulous white-knuckle adventure from Melinda Leigh. At book six in the series, supermom Morgan and her colleagues are starting to feel as familiar as family. So, it’s a huge shock when Morgan’s friend, Lincoln’s girlfriend Olivia goes missing at the start of the story. With two weeks to go before their wedding, Morgan and Lance find themselves racing against time to find Olivia before it’s too late.
As always, I love the uneasy balance between Morgan’s personal life and her professional responsibilities. Morgan is a mum with young kids but she’s also a lawyer working with a firm of private investigators. Trying to balance it all is impossible and the compromises and guilt make Morgan feel wonderfully human and relatable. Olivia’s disappearance is both personal and professional for Morgan and there is a desperate feel to this book that makes it even more exciting than others in the series.
However. I don’t think this book has the most coherent plot in the series. I felt like too much of the story was spent with characters running round in circles. I feel like the whodunnit is too obvious – but there’s also too much time spent on potential suspects who don’t actually have anything to do with the kidnapping. It’s an odd mix of complaints and I’m surprised I’m complaining because the plotting in this series has been fantastic until now. I’m hoping things get better again with the next book because this is quickly becoming a favourite series and Morgan is already a favourite leading lady.

M/F Thriller
This is another great read by Leigh. This time we are searching for Sharp’s girlfriend, Olivia. She has figured out that there might be a connection between a couple of different cold case murders. There are implications that someone might have been wrongly imprisoned and implications that someone doesn’t want those cases to come to light for fear of being caught.
This is a tale that has so many moving parts. At times, it was somewhat confusing and redundant. I liked how we still were able to see into the main characters’ lives – the wedding planning and the family (kids, nanny, and grandfather) were still a major part of the story.
In the search for Olivia, you catch glimpses of a different side of Sharp. It was a side that we normally don’t see. He is normally so calm and collected, but with this side, he was frazzled at times.
Overall, this was still a fast-paced story, but the story seemed a little less focused than the previous ones. But I wouldn’t be sad if we got to see them continue to solve crimes.
Possible Triggers: Kidnapping, suicide

This is the 6th book in the Morgan Dane series and still going strong! This one is a well written and exciting kidnapping who dunit style story that adds murder and cold cases to it. Fast paced read wondeful characters and storyline kept me reading until I finished it. Excellent story telling.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of Save Your Breath by Melinda Leigh that I read and reviewed.
The sixth book in the Morgan Dane series was one of the best. The entire team of Morgan, Lance and Sharp work together to find Olivia the reporter that Sharp has been dating and was kidnapped from her home. They have no idea who took her but have leads from her notes on a book she is looking into writing about two cases that she is questioning if the men in prison are guilty or not. The team is working against the clock against an unknown kidnapper with a number of suspects and no clue who has Olivia or is it someone that isn’t even on their radar?
This book had so many twist and so many things going on Leigh kept the reader on the edge of their seat throughout the entire book. I loved it. I also loved how she kept everyone in the Dane series in this book and gave the reader some closure to some storylines. I am not sure if this is last of the the series but if it is this was one heck of a farewell.
Save Your Breath gets five out of five stars.
Fantastic ending to this series. I held my breath, I laughed, I cried and I miss this series already. Lance, Morgan, Sharp, Olivia, the kids, Gianna are all here . Well okay, we are searching for Olivia, but they are all in this last book. A terrifying, suspenseful mystery wrapped in romance and ending in a HEA resolution.. Thank you Melinda Leigh, Montlake and NetGalley for the arc. All thoughts and opinions are my own and we’re unsolicited.
“ . ’ . . , .”
This is the sixth installment of Morgan Dane Series by Melinda Leigh. Like all previous books, Save Your Breath will keep you on the edge of your sit waiting to discover the new killer or menace in this story.
This books can be read as standalone since every case and investigation is completely different and Leigh makes sure you don’t get lost between the characters that form part of this series. But if you ask me it’s more exciting and fulfilling if you read the books in order. That’s just my preference.
In Save Your Breath there’s kidnapping, murder and action. This book is full of suspense and mystery to keep you hook. The chemistry and familiarity between Morgan, Lance and Sharp makes this a great read.
Morgan is the attorney in the group while Lance and Sharp are the PI of the company. This team is ready to decipher a mayhem of situation while keeping up with family life. The plot was great, writing style is brilliant and you get to love this characters as they were actual living breathing human beens.
I’m so sad this series is over and I can’t wait for what Melinda will bring next. Don’t forget to grab this copy on September 17.
I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This book is an enthralling adventure from beginning until the end. Excellent writing as usual by Melinda Leigh; strong, well developed characters that absolutely make the story come to life. Save Your Breath is a must read for anyone who enjoys a nitty gritty mystery! Enjoy!
A longtime fan of Melinda Leigh and her skillful writing, however this narrative did not reflect her talent. This is book six in the Morgan Dane series and can be read as a stand alone. The character arc for many of the cast stalled out and while the plot itself stayed on point, the narrative became diluted with a conglomeration of subplots that lent no support to the main story. Chapters went on without recourse back to the main “victim” and too much minor detail slowed the pace. Leigh has so expertly engaged readers into her story lines in the past through her character driven plots that this felt as if written by someone else entirely.
I was kindly given this ARC by NetGalley, which I read and reviewed voluntarily. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Melinda Leigh thrills her reading audience with her latest book.
She’s in love with him. He’s in love with her. Maybe! True crime writer Olivia Cruz and PI Lincoln Sharp have been seeing each other for a few months. Both are very independent people so they are taking their relationship one step at a time. Then Olivia is kidnapped. They both rethink their slower steps now. Lincoln becomes an obsessed man. He must save Olivia. Fortunately his fellow PI, Lance Kruger and defense attorney, Morgan Dane are there to help. Clues at Olivia’s house are sparse so Lincoln, Lance and Morgan have a lot of digging into Olivia’s latest book research to do. Add to that interviewing the people associated with the cases Olivia is looking into and you have long days and nights with little sleep. That’s the way it has to be. They all know that every day a kidnap victim is missing increases the chances the victim won’t be found alive.
Save Your Breath by Melinda Leigh is the sixth book in her Morgan Dane series. She writes such great thrillers and this book is no exception. There are twists, turns, surprises and “Oh Mys!” galore. The action is non-stop. This is definitely an “I can’t put this book down.” story. Leigh’s readers are familiar with the main characters and she stays true to their known personalities in this book. This is a rather intense read with criminals and a number of deaths/murders. Every scene this author writes adds to the storyline so these incidents are necessary for the storyline to be complete. There are light moments too especially with the scenes including Morgan’s daughters. One such scene really made me smile. Lance takes the girls Halloween costume shopping. I don’t think he was prepared for that particular experience. LOL. Readers who enjoy thrillers with lots of action and suspense will enjoy Melinda Leigh’s latest Morgan Dane book.
Another great book in the Morgan Dane series!!!! I’ve loved all 6 of them.
When Sharp’s girlfriend Olivia is kidnapped, the hunt is on!!! This is a side of Sharp that up until now, we haven’t witnessed. Its like being a part of a giant, wonderful, family!! All of the characters are awesome and I love how all of them an entwined.
We are taken on an edge of your seat, action packed adventure, that includes murder, attempted murder, escape, and medical issues with a few unexpected twists and turns.
I really, really hope this is not the end of the series because I need Sharp and Olivia’s story – PLEASE Melinda!!!

Morgan is an attorney and Lance is a private investigator. When their friend Olivia goes missing, they help Sharp, who is Lance’s boss and friend. Olivia is a true crime writer and as they delve deeper into her research, they realize that it may be connected to two different murder cases. While they continue to look for Olivia, someone tries to kill them. Can they find her before it’s too late?
Action and suspense. Two people set in their ways, not wanting to put a name to their relationship. I totally did not know who the kidnapper was. I could not put this book down. It will keep you turning the pages until the very end.
* Voluntarily read and reviewed this for NetGalley *
The final book in the series (sad face) has the team racing to find Lincoln’s girlfriend Olivia Cruz after she is kidnapped.
Was Olivia taken because of the two cases she was investigating for her true-crime book or some other nefarious reason.
As Morgan, Lance and Lincoln start uncovering clues they are shocked at how many different suspects end up on their list along with a few surprise ones from what they considered an unrelated case. But even with a large cast of suspects they still aren’t any closer to finding Olivia and they know time is running out for her.
All whilst this is happening Morgan is supposed to be finalizing her and Lance’s wedding planning which of course gets put on the back burner. By the end of the book, and the shocking reveal of who and why Olivia was taken, many threads from the series come full circle and are wrapped up in a very satisfying way.
Even though it’s bittersweet that this brings the end of this series I am looking forward to the new series with homicide detective Bree Taggert.
