(Better Date than Never series, Book #4)
Kristen knows men hide things. Case in point, her last boyfriend turned out to be married. Just like anyone else, Kristen is devastated. However, since Kristen evaluates people for a living, her ex’s duplicity has her searching for a new career as well as swearing off men.
Touring history museums with her sexy friend Ethan doesn’t count, because he has a … count, because he has a girlfriend, and has only shown friendly interest in Kristen. He even helps with her career counseling tasks. Although Kristen has a secret crush on Ethan, spending time with him is safe. Until she discovers he’s actually single. Gasp. And now he’s flirting with her, too.
Suddenly, Ethan is way too dangerous. Not to mention tempting. Sure, he seems like sixty shades of perfect, but how’s a girl with bad judgment supposed to detect what skeletons he has in his closet?

I hated to see how Kristen’s negativity flows over into her friends’ lives: influencing them to be distrustful. I loved that Ethan was as sturdy as bedrock. While the main plot was reasonably predictable, there were several side plots which weren’t. Overall, I enjoyed the story.
I was a bit frustrated with Kristen’s character. Everyone around her could see that she was letting her insecurities get the best of her career and love life. To be as educated in counseling as she was, it seemed very out of character for her to let her insecurities get the best of her professional career. Regardless, the romance was sweet, and I was happy to see Ethan finally reached his happily ever after with Kristen, after he was rebuffed in an earlier book in the series. This is a sweet, clean romantic comedy with a happily ever after.
Save The Date is the fourth book in the BetterDate Than Never Series by Susan Hatler which tells the story of Kristen, who gets tricked by her boyfriend who turns out to be a married man, and Ethan, her best friend who she thinks is safe since he has a girlfriend. When Kristen finds Ethan is really single and not dating her trust issues surface. I recommend this tender and fun love story.

Kristen was a marriage counselor but she lost her confidence because she found out her boyfriend was married and quit her practice and him. Her best male friend Ethan was in love with her and she couldn’t make herself trust a relationship with him even though she was falling in love with him. Now her negativity was rubbing off on her friends relationships. Fun and exciting read as as Kristen navigates the complexities of her own life relationships

I liked how Kristen finally got her own book after having her in the peripheral of previous books, unfortunately she really irked me with her woe is the world attitude. I get that she has always been so put together and confident in her job, but I felt she went just a bit too extreme the other way, but you know what everyone is allowed to be hysterical every now and then I just wished I could jump into the book and shake her lol. Fortunately for her Ethan knows her and has the patients of a saint and sticks it out hoping she will finally get the not so subtle hints he drops but patients only lasts so long. This is a bit of a refreshing read as you don’t always like Kirsten but she and her friends do provide some great laughs, awkward moments as well as a sweet story and advice on what not to tell you friends if they aren’t sure about their partner!!

When Kristen finds out the guy she has been dating is married, it’s a major shock. Not just the deception, but the fact that her job depends on her ability to accurately evaluate people means that she needs a new career path.
She enjoys the company of her friend, Ethan, who feels “safe” because he has a girlfriend and is no threat to her wanting more with him. She is sure he just enjoys her company, as she enjoys his. But when she finds out his girlfriend is actually his sister, the crush she has always had for him becomes uncomfortable! With both of them keeping their feelings hidden to avoid risk to their friendship, who will make the first move to ask for more? Or will they each walk away from something wonderful rather than take a chance on losing a sure thing?
That old saying, “can’t see the forest through the trees”, came to mind while reading this book. I’ll stay off my soapbox after I mutter that communication is the key to starting a relationship and to keeping it healthy. Why hold back such beautiful feelings out of fear? Such wasted time. Sigh… so now who will step up and clear the air here? Or will they walk away and remain silent out of fear? Grab your copy and see if someone is willing to makes a move to find that HEA!
Kristen was a marriage and family counselor who had found out her boyfriend of months was married. She stopped her practice because she no longer felt qualified to give advice to others when she had not seen the bad signs in her own relationship. She took a job as a receptionist to support herself but friends still asked her advice which was now tainted because she didn’t trust men. She had a good friend, Ethan, who she would get together with by calling each other and asking them to “ save the date” rather than calling it an official date. She also was under the false impression that he had a girlfriend and was only interested in friendship. Would Kristen be able to trust again and return as a counselor? Would Ethan be able to on nice her of his love?
This was a fun book to read and I enjoyed watching Kristen regain her confidence and return as a counselor.

Kristen and Ethan’s story is so sweet and very real. When you read this book, you feel as though these are real people dealing with real relationship problems-although having a HEA is a perfect ending.

This is book#4 in the Better Date than Never series.
It is the first book i have read by this author. It is quirky, sassy and easy to read.
It is the story of Kristen and Ethan.
Kristen is a family and marriage counselor. She knows men hide things. Her last boyfriend turned out to be married. Kristen is devastated as anyone would be, but since she evaluates people for a living, she starts searching for a new career. She has also sworn off men.
Ethan is a lawyer and friends with Kristen. She thinks he has a girlfriend and thinks he is safe. She thinks he only has a friendly interest in her. He helps her with her career counseling tasks and they tour history museums.
Secretly Kristen has a crush on Ethan. She isn’t sure what to think of his flirting when she finds out his girlfriend is really his sister… she is tempted but she feels like he is way too dangerous. Is he perfect for her or does he have skeletons in his closet, too?
I was looking for something fun and light and given the cover and the blurb thought this would work nicely. Too bad it turned out to be a bit of a Debbie downer of a read.
Totally understand given Kristen’s profession that the betrayal by her boyfriend would shake her confidence a bit. What it seemed to also do was bring about her second, and third guessing herself on everything in her life. Her bitterness and her doom and gloom took center stage in almost every aspect of her life and it started also affecting the things she said to her friends.
Her relationship to Ethan didn’t have any chemistry or none that I felt or saw, despite her seeming to be all gaa gaa over him. It just read as flat and forced than something that flowed smoothly or naturally.
For Kristen being a counselor, she needed to take some of her own advice and let it go and realize that sometimes even the best of us can get fooled by a pretty face. Thought the angst fest was drawn out way past the point of usefulness and just kept the book from pulling itself out of a really depressing place into something fun.

It’s been a bit since I’ve read a Hatler short story and this was just the read I needed to boost my mood. I loved how this book navigated human relationships and overcoming fears and our pasts.
