If you like gut-wrenching suspense, broken heroes, and inspirational romance, you will love this emotionally charged novel by AJ Alexander and Andi Jaxon. I always believed someone would hear my silent cries for help, but no one ever came. It wasn’t until we moved to our current duty station that someone finally heard my battered soul’s pleading.Dr. Adam Patterson quickly became more than my … quickly became more than my family physician. He understands what my daughter and I are going through, more than anyone. Even still trust doesn’t come easy.
My heart soars whenever he’s near, but the darkness remains. Our time together is threatened by a monster from my past, the chances of my survival are small.
Only time will tell if he’s our savior or our damnation. Too bad our time is running out.
Save me is an emotionally charged standalone novel, where strength comes from the most unlikely place.

Wow, what an emotional roller coaster I just got off of after reading Save Me! This book is intense and heartbreaking and had me feeling so many emotions from start to finish. Although it doesn’t seem to start out that way this is a story of strength. Both Adam and Isabel have something in common in that they have suffered abuse from someone who should be protecting them. Adam experienced it as a child and it is now his mission to help other victims get out of that situation. Isabel is currently living in an abusive relationship and as much as she hopes and prays things will get better, deep down she knows that it never will.
When the two of them meet Adam is instantly drawn to Isabel and desperate to help her see that she deserves to be safe.
This book starts out with a Trigger warning to let readers know that this book deals with abuse, however, it says that no abuse actually takes place in the story. I took this to mean that it would be mentioned that the characters were abused but in the past and not currently. I would like to point out to others that that is actually not true, there are a few abusive moments that happen in this book and so if this is at all a topic you stay away from just be aware of that. I thought that the authors did an amazing job of being true to their characters and described what they were going through in order to best tell their story.
This book is full of some suspenseful moments as well as some wonderful ones. It kept me on my toes wondering what was going to happen next.
There were a few areas that had me confused and I would have to go back to reread a section, but overall I enjoyed the writing and characters and story line.

That was one emotional rollercoaster!
My nerves feel destroyed after making it to the end of this book. It covered a very difficult subject. Adam and Isabel are very believable characters that I found myself loving easily with the urge to jump in the book and help them anyway I could. This story begins with an introduction to Adam who is a hardworking military doctor. You learn right off that his father was abusive to his mother growing up and he still struggles with the effects it had on him. He has no life. Instead he buries himself in work trying to help as many people as he can in an effort to make up for not being able to protect his mother. While at work, he comes face to face with Isabel, and sees in her eyes emotions he has spent a lifetime trying to forget. Isabel is married to a Captain in the military who terrorizes his wife and daughter. Adam sees his chance to help save them. Thus, we begin the stressful ride this story takes you on. I felt so many emotions from fear and anger to hope and to some extent, despair. Adam is a true hero in every aspect and I truly loved his character. I can’t leave out little Sophie, the strong, sweet and resilient daughter of Isabel. I really loved how the authors really gave her a voice. Reading the chapters told from her point of view were definitely the most heartbreaking and heartwarming. But I truly appreciated having that experience as it was a first for me. This story really did capture my heart and soul with an ending that had tears falling on my kindle. But they were tears of hope and happiness. I would have easily given this five stars if not more but the editing was seriously lacking. There were a lot of typos. But the story was solid and strong enough that it was only an inconvenience but took nothing from the amazing story!
This book was so good. It was hard to read some of the scenes just because I personally know some people who have dealt with abuse. The story was an emotional roller coaster ride and I don’t think I have cried reading a book more than this one. I couldn’t put it down and read well past my bedtime. I loved Isabel and Adam’s story and just wanted to reach in the book and hug Sophie.
I highly recommend reading this book.
Very well written characters and story. Loved these characters. It definitely has trigger points for anyone who has been in a violent situation Adam and Isabel are beautiful together and her daughter Sofie is a great addition to the story. Definitely worth the read
There are many triggers in this book but honestly it was a very good read. Wow, was this book an emotional read. This story broke my heart many times because no one should go through what these characters went through.
Even though they did not have it easy by any means they both proved to be survivors. Isabel had a strength that prevailed many things and is what many people wished they had. She is a true fighter and would do anything for her daughter.
Adam is also a survivor, even though most of what he went through was as a witness to it happening. When he got older he did all he could to make sure that no one else ever had to go through what he saw. When he meets Isabel he knows he will do anything to help her.
Isabel and Adam both have to learn to trust and move on from what they endured. Will they be able to save each other?
This book is so intense, it takes you in a roller coaster of emotions. There is a trigger but it was than the abuse it was a story of survival, strength, bravery.
Save Me is a beautiful story of survival and the strength to realize you deserve better. I loved Adam’s character his will to save others and finding an unexpected love in the process was a joy to read. I feel for Isabel what she went through and what she fights for. Overall a good read that will give you the feels and doesn’t disappoint.
I really enjoyed this book. Isabel and poor little Sophie have been through a lot and are still going through it when Adam comes into their life. He knows almost exactly what these two are going through as hes been through the same thing when he was little. Hes a doctor and is determined to help other people. He feels this pull with Isabel and is commited to making sure he does whatever he can to keep these two safe from anything. I loved all three of them and the fact that together they are stronger and are able to help each other move on. My heart broke for them all but it healed with them!!!
A very emotional story. The subject matter is handled very well and sensitively. The storyline is well thought out. A very good story that I hope helps someone who is dealing with this.
Bravery, survival and love.
Andi Jaxon and AJ Alexander have done well to portray the transition of surviving a violent and abusive relationship into the development of being able to accept all that is normal about love and family.
Our good doctor, Adam, works within a military setting, meeting an exceptionally beautiful and fragmented young lady, Isabel, who is to be one of the centres new patients, due to the reassignment of her husband. She’s fearful, and Adam can’t help but be intrigued by her beauty or the fragility that surrounds her.
It’s not until he is summoned to the hospital on base that he again finds the fragile face that has haunted him. She has a husband, and a four year old daughter who appears to have injuries leading into suspected and prolonged abuse.
While I thought the voice of 4 year old Sophie was at times way too mature for her age, she added that last bit of depth to the dynamics of abused family members.
Children see a situation so much differently from that of an adult, and her little voice rounded out the book perfectly. And in turn, Isabel sustained so much abuse that it was hard to accept help when it was offered, even as she wanted to protect her daughter from the man who was supposed to love an protect them.
Trouble is, how can Isabel show her daughter that no one deserves the treatment handed out by the man in their lives when her own parents are telling her that it is all her own fault? 4 Stars to an eye-opening book that pulls no punches yet offers so much hope.
So this book was powerful and moving. It was for me hard at first to accept how quickly it moved! You are brought immediately into the story and you don’t come out with out feeling some big feelings about the situation and the characters. You should know as the warning says triggers can happen if you have ever known someone or were that someone in an abusive relationship. Really even if you weren’t or don’t it can be a little hard to read. You truly want to make sure the abusers get what is coming to them and you get quite a few surprises in the story as well. Not all of those unpleasant.
Have to say hands down I LOVE the story and characters but by far Sophie is my favorite! I bet you fall for her too!
I can never get enough of this duo! AJ Alexander and Andi Jaxon definitely have some major magic when they write together. Save Me is a super emotional and super sweet read that brought me to tears more than once. I was instantly in love with Adam the second I met him. This doctor is not just a sexy man with a stethoscope, he’s got a heart that is simply too good for this world and so much love and sweetness for Isabel and her daughter.
I truly did enjoy their story for the most part, and honestly this would have been a solid five stars for me but there were quite a few inconsistencies throughout this book that caused me to stop and have to go back thinking I had some how missed something. Every time that happened it pulled me out of the story and left me confused trying to find what I’d missed.
Save Me, is about abuse. Emotional and physical abuse. It’s a sweet story between the characters, but I thought the storyline went a bit too fast. Which made the story lack depth.
The story also jumped a few times, back and forth, and that pulled me out an made me go back to check if I missed something.

What an emotional book, that will break your heart…
…this book is about survival, repair, and putting yourself together again.
The journey wasn’t an easy one, every emotions just poured out.
… I am in awe with her strength.. this book is worth every tear ~wtmo
This book touched my heart. A beautiful romance that will steal your heart and put your emotions through the wringer. Adam and Isabel have such a poignant connection and I was easily swept up into their romance. A very good read. This is my independant, impartial review.
This was a beautiful story about a man who has a hero complex and always try’s to fix and save everyone, but with his past it was so understandable. I really liked Adam. This was a hard book to read at times because of the subject matter. When I was a child I went thing something like this and the author did a good job at expressing things. That’s the best way to describe it.
I did find my self a little annoyed with the internal dialogue from Sophie. I’m not sure why. In her head she seemed more mature then she was when she spoke. To me it was and felt just like Isabel’s POV. It was kinda hard to see or feel a difference. She didn’t have her own voice so to speak. I will say that overall I did like her character. She was a smart and sweet little girl.
For the most part it was a beautiful story. I will say there were times that I rolled my eyes because things didn’t make sense to me or were inconsistent. I can’t go into details because of spoiler risks though. Either way, I could be in a book funk, and I did read an ARC so things could have been changed before publication. So while my rating is 3 stars, based on my enjoyment factor, don’t let that sway you from this story. It was a beautiful story about overcoming abuse and the author really made me love these characters. 3 stars #2OCCJD
This book was so emotional and intense! The characters had depth and dimension. There are a few scenes that may not be for everyone, but they are so well written. While there are a lot of tragic and sad undertones, ultimately this story is about a man and woman who had rough lives, and then saving each other from the darkness bound to taken them down. Andi and AJ did it again with another amazing book!
This book was so intense and emotional. The characters were amazing, and I just adored Sophie!
Recently, I read my first Andi Jaxon novel and loved it. So much so that I will be adding some of her books to my summer reading list. With the exception of holiday romance, summer reading is my favorite time of the year. It’s the one time I promise myself to knock off books from my TBR, and read for pure pleasure. Not that I don’t do that already, but being a blogger/reviewer, I read many ARCs. Oh, please don’t misunderstand because I love to read for authors however, I like to just kick back and read my own selections too. Hence, one reason why I look forward to the summer.
That said…..This was my first collaboration read from Andi Jaxon and AJ Alexander. I know, right? Where have I been hiding? Under a rock, apparently. Nevertheless, I am so happy I read this book. Now I can’t wait to read an exclusive AJ Alexander novel.
This book was, for me, a darker read than I am used to. I’ll be honest, I avoid books with heavy physical abuse. (*please note, if you read the blurb that you already know that the majority of physical abuse is talked about but not actually on the pages) It breaks my heart too much. But this book came across my blog and after reading the blurb, I just knew I had to read it. Both authors did a great job at weaving this story, making it believable and giving us a well-deserved happy ending. Yes, karma is a queen not to be messed with!
I’m not going to give away any details. Not even the smallest hints. This is a book that you need to go into without too many spoilers so you can appreciate everything good that happens. It will only make the ending so much sweeter. I will tell you that the secondary characters (well not all of them) were charming and and added not only depth, but some humor to a story that is angsty and intense.
I recommend this fast-paced read. As I mentioned earlier in my review, I am looking forward to reading more from both of these authors, exclusively and collaboratively.
This is my honest and unbiased opinion. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
WOW!! SPEECHLESS!! JUST SPEECHLESS!! Andi Jaxon and A.J. Alexander BLEW ME AWAY with this One!! The moment I read the Blurb- SAVE ME, I was intrigued and wanted to know More! Bonus since I’m a HUGE Fan of their Writing!!
Gotta warn you though, it does deal with emotional and physical domestic abuse but so worth the read. Isabel and Sophie’s story is So Beautifully Written but has All The FEELS you can ask for in a book & More! Adam has you swooning over his chivalry and melts your heart strings for his passion to a woman he first laid eyes on; plus His Darkest Fears as a Child Comes to Surface.
It was Such an EMOTIONAL ROLLER COASTER ride of Epic proportions and never a Dull moment page after page! Plus I Read it in ONE SITTING to the point that I Couldn Not Put It Down!
DEFINITELY A MUST READ BOOK!!
Isabel is living a horrible life with her young daughter. They live in fear every day and it seems like she’s content to deal with her husband until it all changes drastically one day.
Adam lived Isabel’s life when he was a child and he’s declaiming to help her get out of get situation at any cost.
This was not the book for me. I’m not normally a fan of the subject matter, but wanted to give it a chance.
