A new heart-pounding, suspenseful, and supremely romantic novel from New York Times bestseller, Mia Sheridan. When wilderness guide, Harper Ward, is summoned to the small town sheriff’s office in Helena Springs, Montana, to provide assistance on a case, she is shocked to find that their only suspect in the double murder investigation is a man described as a savage. But the longer she watches the … longer she watches the man known only as Lucas, on the station surveillance camera, the more intrigued she becomes. He certainly looks primitive with his unkempt appearance and animal skin attire, but she also sees intelligence in his eyes, sensitivity in his expression. Who is he? And how is it possible that he’s lived alone in the forest since he was a small child?
As secrets begin to emerge, Harper is thrust into something bigger and more diabolical than she ever could have imagined. And standing right at the center of it all, is Lucas. But is he truly the wild man he appears to be? A cold blooded killer? An innocent victim? Or a perplexing mix of all three?
Harper must find out the answers to these questions because the more time she spends with him, the more she risks losing her heart.

Savaged was a beautiful story about two characters who are trying to survive and make the best out of the bad hand they were dealt with in life. Both Jak and Harper were great and intriguing characters, and I looked forward to discovering new things about their past. Savaged was mysterious, suspenseful, emotional, and very romantic. Mia Sheridan created an original story with very interesting characters that you can’t help but love. I liked that the story kept me guessing and that I didn’t know what to expect next. I also enjoyed the multiple POVs a lot and the flashbacks as well. This book is pretty thick, but I think to really tell the whole story it needed to be this long. I was hooked to the story and it kept me interested until the end. There were a lot of secrets that needed to be uncovered, and some of them were heartbreaking.
“He was all man, every bit of him, and never in her life had she felt another person’s presence so keenly. Never had she been stared at with so much intensity. It unsettled her. It intrigued her.”
I am a huge fan of Mia and I love that she always comes up with the most amazing stories, and I always feel a strong connection to her characters. Her books always feel like more than just a romance story, and I love the extra layers she adds to the story. Her writing is great and it has a very nice pace and flow. This book was probably not the easiest to write, because of all the horrible things that were done to the characters. But it was engaging and beautiful. I just absolutely loved seeing Jak and Harper fall in love. These two were perfect for each other. I also loved seeing Jak experiencing so many new things for the first time. I was happy the author included an epilogue, and I wished it was longer. I would love a novella featuring these beautiful characters. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is intrigued by the blurb.
This is my first introduction at reading Mia’s work and I am just full of so much sorrow and empathy.
Jak has lived through an experience that no child/person should endure and I cannot believe how civilized and moral he still turned out after living through so much trauma.
I felt the goosebumps rise on my skin when Harper and Jak first meet. It’s like their souls recognized a kinship in each other. You feel how at ease they are when they are starting to get to know each other.
I went into this book blind and I recommend anyone else who is new to Mia to do the same. If you enjoy romantic suspense then there’s no way you’ll regret it.
Christian and Chelsea did such a superb job at making this story come to life! I look forward to listening to more of their work.
This book was not what I expected. Mia writes heroes that are completely swoon worthy and Lucas was no exception. This man had been through so much, he had to learn so much. He was used to such simple things and it was hard for him to understand that there was more out there. It hurt my heart for what he endured but it also made me see him in such a different light. This man, as a boy, had overcome challenges that SO MANY of us would never have overcome. The twist in this book made my heart roll over in my chest. Harper was the perfect person to bring him out of the wild and into his own. I loved these two. This is one of my favorites.
I wonder how many readers said “I didn’t see that coming” a time or two whilst reading, or listening, to this book.
As expected, this is another hit from for Mia Sheridan. The story had layers upon layers with so much heartbreak and emotion for the children who were so cruelly exploited, especially Jack.
The story is told in two parts, firstly that of the child Jack, who struggles to survive in horrific conditions in the wild and secondly, the story is between Lucas and Harper Ward who’s paths become intertwined when Lucas is brought into the police station for questioning following the death of his neighbour.
Lucas has always lived off the grid, never even venturing into town, but with the death of his neighbour, life as he knows it is about to change. When Harper is brought in to help the Agent tasked with investigating two mysterious cross-bow deaths in the town she comes across the enigmatic stranger, Lucas. Knowing practically every part of the land that surrounds the town, Harper assists the police to find their way around the crime location and that leads her to Lucas’ door with questions pertaining to his neighbour but also to him, his life and how he will live now he is unable to trade with his deceased neighbour.
Harper survived the death of her parents in a crash and became a wilderness guide, partly in the hope that one day she will stumble across her parents and their car which was never found after the accident. The mystery and suspense in this story begins to unravel with Harper and Lucas’ interaction but I didn’t expect just how closely aligned their lives from childhood would be. When Harper starts to understand just how Lucas has lived and what he has endured, she decides to help him especially when he unexpectedly gives her the answer to her prayers.
This story was epic. It was such an emotional roller-coaster and packed in so many twists and turns that really did keep me guessing right up until the stories conclusion. Jack was a wonderful character who was perfectly portrayed on Audible and Harper was the perfect person to complement his sensitivities. Parts of this story resembled the Hunger Games but only in so much as seeing children fighting to survive a situation which was not of their making. What happened to them was cruel and unforgivable but to see Jack become the man he did was incredibly rewarding.
This was a standalone story and definitely one that I will revisit a time or two.
An intensely emotional, compelling and heartbreaking read. I feel like I have gone 10 rounds with the reigning heavy weight champion and my soul needs some time to heal from all the darkness and disgusting example of humanity and it’s sickest, most evil human beings. It was beautiful and so truly heartbreakingly sad I don’t know what to do with myself. The connection and deep, deep, soul deep bond that Jak and Harper have from the very first moment is awe inspiring and jealousy inducing. I wish I had my own wolf/ mountain man! You absolutely should not miss this book! I’m truly disappointed I did not get a chance to read it before now! I will forever remember it and hopefully one day I will read it again.
Oh, my heart.
I loved this story SO MUCH.
This story is unique.
It’s full of emotion.
It’s powerful.
It knocked my socks off.
Jak and Harper…two souls meant to be together. Their story is tragic, sometimes horrific, hauntingly beautiful.
I couldn’t love this more if I tried.
I. Want. The wolf.
********* AUDIOBOOK REVIEW *********
Wow! This was one amazing audiobook! I kind of figured out who the main culprit was pretty easily early in the story. However, there was one twist I didn’t see coming! I loved this book though. It will easily be a favorite for the year. The writing was perfection. Easy to read and follow, even with all the moving parts and all the side stories happening. Mia Sheridan creates a roller coaster of emotions. I felt so much anger and hurt on behalf of Jack. But then I found him so adorably sweet that I’d just be smiling while listening. He was adorably sweet!
The narration between Christian Fox and Chelsea Hatfield were amazing together. Not only do these two sound amazing together but they provoke so much emotion. The story itself is emotional but there were so many times that Fox or Hatfield added more emotion that caused my teary-eyes to leak over into tears. It’s a heartbreaking and inspiring story and I feel like these narrators added to the heart of the story!
An original story of perseverance and unfailing loyalty to one’s self. A young child is dropped in the middle of the wilderness and left with one goal “to live.” So starts an unbelievable journey that culminates in a romantic, forever love. This story is not to be missed.
I was haunted by this book long after I finished it! Great read!
Unexpected. Heart stopping. Gorgeous.
Mia Sheridan never disappoints. I’ve read her entire backlist and always wait with bated breath for her next novel. Two murders in a Montana town sparks an investigation that drags Harper Ward, wilderness guide, into its apex. When the only suspect is a primitive man who’s lived in the wilderness surrounding one of the victims’ property, Harper becomes intrigued by what this man has obviously endured and embarks on a mission to understand why. I don’t want to share much more because the reader should share the discovery with Harper as this story unfolds. Questions about Lucas will be answered and as the layers of the investigation are pealed back, there is a stunning conclusion that I just don’t want to spoil. Romance and Thriller enthusiasts both will love Savaged. Hopefully as much as I do!
An absolutely amazing and riveting story. Harper and Jak brought all the feels. So many twists and turns and a fantastic conclusion. Mia Sheridan writes such beautiful books.
I absolutely loved this book 🙂
Wow I didn’t know what to expect going into this book, all my favorite authors are changing things up a bit. Harper is a wilderness guide and is called in to help with a police investigation in Helena Springs Montana. They are looking at a Mountain Man named Lucas for a murder, but he really doesn’t seem to fit the crime. Harper comes to a lot of realization about the death of her parents and her life and Lucas figures out how he was manipulated for 16 years. Incredible book.
A totally different book from one of my favorite authors. Filled with twists and turns I never saw coming, this book captured me right away. Layers of emotion, both happy and sad, hit me through out this book. Loss and anguish. Discovery and wonder. Love and betrayal. Lucas and Harper’s story was told perfectly and I loved it.
Highly recommend this book!
Not surprised by how much I loved this book. Mia Sheridan has a way of writing the most unique storylines. Savaged is emotional, heart-wrenching, and beautiful. Thank you, Mia, for your words.
Ahhh… It felt so right to get back to some good ol’ Mia Sheridan storytelling! Her writing is so unique & thought-provoking. It forces me to get sucked into every story I’ve read by her & this one was no different. It was a tiny bit slow-moving in parts but Savaged’s intricately woven story kept my curiosity peaked the entire time I was reading it.
I liked Harper. I loved Jak/Lucas. And I REALLY loved them together. Both characters were so broken but when they came together, they shined like no other. They truly did complete one another in the most adorable ways.
Jak/Lucas reminded me so much of Archer Hale, from Mia’s Archer’s Voice, that I couldn’t help but feel all swoony & emotional every time his name was mentioned. *runs to bookshelf to re-read Archer’s Voice*
It was CRAZY how deeply interwoven this plot line was. The first investigation led to answers but then led to another investigation which produced even more questions & on & on. The way the pieces of the puzzle fell into place made the story jam-packed with HOLY CROW moments.
Very happy with how things ended for Jak/Lucas & Harper. They totally deserved their beautiful happily ever after! 🙂
Wow! What an intriguing, disturbing read. I instantly loved Jak and Harper. The story bounced from present to past to give insight into his past, all the while he is sharing his present with Harper. There’s this undeniable connection between them.
As the story unfolds and little discoveries made, Jak is even more appealing, with his strength and will, his sensitivity and hope.
Agent Gallagher and his wife are perfect. They are exactly who they need to be in this story.
Gah! My heart broke, tears fell, disbelief shook me, and panic rocked me. But the more I read and learned, the more I adore Jak and Harper!
Unique, as always. Touched my heart.
Incredible does not even begin to describe this book, it was that good. I have no words to say but that it’s a must read. This mystery suspense book is so ingenious. The characters are well developed and the writing is so awesome. Your heart will break, so emotional. You will love Jak and Harper and despise others. Go read it!
