My sweet and gifted student has a cocky bastard father. The ex-SEAL turned bodyguard has been hired to protect me. It bothers me how his presence brings X-rated thoughts to my mind…And the sick pleasure I get when he orders me around. Maybe danger makes people look at things differently, or maybe Hugh’s just too HOT to ignore. Whatever it is, I hope to make it out alive to find out.HughThey …
Whatever it is, I hope to make it out alive to find out.
Hugh
They call me rude and savage.
All I care about is my son Charlie.
My newest client is his favorite teacher.
And the woman I can’t stop thinking about.
Layla’s innocent beauty and curves are a dangerous combination.
It’s my job to protect her, not picture her naked. Moaning. Begging.
The men after her will have to get past me. Charlie and I’ve lost enough, and I’ll be damned if I let history repeat itself.

Oh, wow! I absolutely loved this story! It was soooooo good, and I hated that it had to end. Great characters, intriguing suspene and danger, off-the-charts chemistry, and adorably, amazing kids made this such an enjoyable read. I loved the sarcasm, wittiness and playfulness between the heroine and hero, and how it carried over, as well as crossed over with their best friends. I was hooked from the very first page until the last and was dying for more! Great writing Kai Lesy!
Savage Protector is the first book by this author that I have read, and I loved following Layla and Hugh’s story. A suspenseful romance with a former SEAL and his adorable son made this a book worth reading.
his is a new author to me and oh have I been missing out,,,,
This was an OMG story,,,, I loved it,,,
Layla Sommers is a music teacher with a degree in art,,,, she is directing a set of students and she simply loves it,,,, her father is the D/A for Chicago and her grandfather was the most decorated D/A in Chicago from back when,,,, her father never liked Layla being a music teacher or anything else ,,,, he wanted her to follow in his footsteps,,,,,but she wanted to be what made her happy ,,,, her mother died when she was young and she’s been stood up at the altar ,,,,, she hasn’t got any hopes of anything making her any happier than when she was with her students and their music ,,,,, it’s been a couple years now and she tells her best friend Kami that she doesn’t need a man,,, but her best friend, Kami hopes that this will work itself out ,,,,,
Hugh Kinkade was a Special Forces Army man who has a 9 year old Charlie Tucker Kinkade who is already in 5th grade,,, and he plays Saxophone with Miss Sommers as a teacher ,,, Hugh’s wife, Nina died about 2 1/2 years ago in a very bad car accident before Hugh could get back from overseas ,,, his best friend, Jordan is Hugh’s best friend from way back,,, and one year in high school, his little sister, Nina and Hugh started not hating each other any more and started going out ,,,, Hugh and Jordan enlisted in the Army together and after Special Forces they now are working in security for Doc, a Retired Special Forces Captain,,, now they do things like being bodyguards and other things that they are trained to do ,,,,,
Layla’s father, Tony has been assigned a case as District Attorney, against a Mafia Boss and has threatened Tony’s daughter, and now Hugh has been assigned by Tony to keep his daughter safe ,,,, Hugh and Jordan are assigned 12 hr shifts ,,,, ok so somehow, I do not think this is the last we have heard from the Mafia Boss,,,, but Hugh and Layla have gotten off on the wrong foot,,, or maybe they just can’t keep their hands to themselves,,,,, or, maybe they don’t want to,,,,
This was a great read from Kai Lesy, a new to me author that I will gladly be reading more of from now on,,,, I definitely would recommend this book to everyone,,,,
I have gotten this ARC voluntarily to leave an honest review
Layla is a music teacher who takes out the best of the children through music. Her father is a DA who has been threatened lots of times, but this one is different, more dangerous and it involves his daughter.
Hugh is an ex-SEAL turned into a bodyguard. The only thing he cares is his son.
Layla and Hugh don’t start too well but that changes little by little. Charlie, Hugh’s son, is very intelligent and so cute and he is a big connection between his father and his teacher.
I like Jordan. I hope one day he will have his own story.
The only thing I don’t like is how Hugh gets angry instead of thinking about the issues he has. Having been a SEAL should have him thinking before acting.
Hugh loses his wife to a car accident while he is overseas, and he doesn’t make it back in time to say goodbye. Now he is the sole caretaker of his son, Charlie, who is gifted like his mother ways, but not a real fan of sports like his dad. His best friend is his wife’s brother and Jordan helps him with everything including Charlie. But when Hugh meets Charlie’s music teacher, feelings he thought were dead come right back to life again in her presence. But what happens when he is hired to protect her due to her father’s career? Can he keep everyone safe? Can he keep his feelings and emotions in check?
Layla has grown up with her father as the DA and a very important man, but when she chooses to teach music rather than follow in his footsteps, their relationship gets strained. Now, a high profile case causes the mafia to threaten her. With the idea of being around Hugh all the time, she can’t help but think of ways to pass the time when Charlie is not around. But when feelings and emotions run high, can Layla and Hugh communicate or will all be lost?
This story is filled with lots of emotions, drama, intense scenes of grief, love, romance and so much more. But will Layla and Hugh see that they have a real chance together before it is too late? Will Hugh be able to save her like she has saved him and Charlie? I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Hugh finds out that he has been hired to protect his son’s favorite music teacher, Layla due to an upcoming trial her DA father is prosecuting. Problem number one, she is gorgous and Hugh finds himself attracted to her, something that hasn’t happened since his wife’s death over two years prior. Problem number two, he really pissed her off during a discussion over his son during a parent/teacher conference prior to getting his assignment. Problem number three, the sexual tension between the two of them keeps threateng to interfer in his relationship with his son, Charlie and his ability to protect Layla from the death treats she has been getting. I really enjoyed this book and have found a new author that I will continue to seek out.
I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest and totally voluntary review.
For this being my first read by this author I must say I was not disappointed. The way that she described every little detail and emotion had us falling in live with Layla, Hugh, Charlie and even Jordan. Who needs his own story told by the way. We deal with mob, father’s and overprotective boyfriends. This will be an author to watch later on. I give it 5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader’s Copy
I wasn’t sure what to expect going in as this is a debut novel for Kai Lesy, but I can tell you now, I am so grateful I gave this author a chance. What a fantastic, well-written, and well-executed story with wonderful and complex characters. I was drawn in from the very beginning and didn’t want their story to end!
Layla and Hugh’s story is full of heat, as their chemistry is electric. I loved the suspense and drama, and it kept me engaged throughout. Kai hit all the emotions spot on. I love it when something is so well-written it tugs on all my emotions and makes me “feel” what the characters are feeling. That is what makes a gifted writer in my book!
I’m excited for Kai Lesy’s future and I can’t wait to see what she releases next! Great job!
She is a sweet and loving music teacher. Her father has a prestigious if not dangerous career at times as a DA. It sometimes bleeds over onto his daughter which it now has. She needs a bodyguard and it just so happens he is one of her students father. He is an hot alpha male. There is an attraction there and in time deeper feelings develop and things happen. I recommend it. I received a review copy by booksprout and voluntarily review it.
She’s the daughter of the District Attorney and he is one of the best security guys around. When Layla’s father is threatened because of a case he is working on, Hugh is asked to become her body guard. This would be all well and good if he hadn’t been such a tool to her in regards to his son. Layla had only his son’s interest at heart but Hugh’s insecurities had him nearly taking her head off and to top it all off, he’s attracted to her. Will this be the battle of wills or will they compromise to get the job done?

I have to say that this story was fabulous. It is full of twists and turns throughout the entire story. It is gripping and has you so intrigued. It is extremely well written with beautifully developed characters. I adore Layla with her sweet but feisty attitude. She knows when to be kind but also when to be a spitfire. At times you just want to smack the jerk out of Hugh but then you can’t help but love him. He is all alpha male with a fantastic protective side. The story has amazing romance and then times you want to cry. A beautiful story with a fantastic ending.

I loved this story of Layla, Hugh and his son Charlie! It was funny, sweet, emotional and a little drama! I laughed, shed a few tears, and just generally fell in love with these caracters and the supporting caracters! I just could not put it down and ended up reading the book straight through! EXCELLENT STORY WITH GREAT CHARACTERS!
Bring the tissues. Bring the laughter. Bring the HEA lovers. Don’t forget the suspense! Right, the steam, too. Yep, this story has it all. I would have given it 6 STARS if I could have. I enjoyed it from start to finish. The author grabbed my attention from chapter one and did not let go of my interest until the very last page. Good job Kai Lesy!!
