Things are spinning wildly out of control for wolf shifter Lucien and House Canis. With the old clashing against the new, the time to choose sides has come. Lucien is confident he’s on the right side, but the battles ahead will test his strength, his conviction and his willpower. And it will leave him beaten, bloody and half-unconscious on the doorstep of the woman he wants to claim as his mate.… mate.
Alison Eaton never expected to see Lucien again. Now he’s appeared at her door in the middle of a storm, barely clinging to life. Letting him into her life again won’t be easy for a woman used to hardening herself against abandonment. Although he might have been a workplace fling before, as soon as she drags him inside, it becomes clear things are different between them. Very different.
What Alison doesn’t know is that by opening the door to Lucien, she will also be opening a new chapter in her life. One where she’ll be forced to forget her past, open herself up to others, and—for once in her life—trust they won’t abandon her. It’s tough, and full of surprises, but is it worth the risk? Because for every man like Lucien who believes in a cause, there’s another who’ll follow any orders, including ones that will put Alison directly in harm’s way…

Finding somewhere to belong
This is the perfect beginning to a brand new series! I love the way these two characters interact with each other and their pack. Every page is a new adventure as they work towards their HEA and finding their place in this world. I can’t wait to read the next book!
Fabulous. Just fabulous. Fiery Aqlison, the human, and gorgeous Lucien, the wolf shifter. They have a history but he had walked away six months ago without a word. Then he turns up on her doorstep half dead from wounds he has sustained. There is a mutiny at the House of Canis and Lucien is part of it. The king has gone crazy with more and more outrageous demands. Alison ends up in the thick of the fight. Great story and I loved it.
What’s not to like about a feast of rollicking wolf shifter stories. Plenty of action, upset feelings, ending in love.
I received an ARC copy of this book and I voluntarily chose to review it. I enjoyed this one. This one was well written and the characters are fantastic. If you enjoy paranormal books you will like this one. There is conflict and some suspense. I don’t do spoilers so get the book find out what I am talking about. This one is worth your time. Give yourself plenty of quiet time to read it, you don’t need to rush it!!!!
OOOH! I love that the House of Canis gets their side of the story!! Lucien’s world is crashing down around him. HE is determined to save the wolf shifters from their crazy King and ally them with the High House Ursa. After a brutal attack he has no where to go, except to her…his mate….Alison thought she would never see Lucien again, but he shows up at her door she can’t deny him. What happens when she learns the truth about him? What happens when the war ends up her door? No spoilers!! You are going to have to read every lusty, action packed page for yourself!!
An insane king, a rebellion and a new beginning. Fantastic.
This is Lucien, a wolf shifter, and Alison, a human’s, story. High House Canis is in the beginning of a civil war. After an escape gone wrong, Lucien is doing good just being alive. Alison is very friendly on the outside but let’s no one into her heart, until Lucas. This story is very action oriented with the romance struggling through the fallout of the pack conflict. I love the way Alison can put on a brave, unflustered and calm attitude even when she is scared to death. Bergey was the star through part of the book. I found it so cool he accepted Lucien and the others on their side so easily. This is going to be a great series. I purchased a copy after receiving a free copy from Booksprout. This is a new series, but if you’ve read the High House Ursa series you don’t want to miss this one.
This story is the first in the House of Canis. This gives insight into the wolfs that we have not had before. The are not as nuts as the Bears would want you to think. I do like the idea Lucien has about hooking up with the Bears to protect everyone with what is coming. Nobody as of yet knows what it is. Maybe the Dragons are coming back or Hunters. Won’t know until it happens. I wait with bated breath. Excited to think about that now. This story is very good also. I have NOT been disappointed in them at all. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
** spoiler alert ** Alison struggles with allowing people close. Lucien is determined to stop House Canis from taking more than they should. They must work together to free his pack mates. Will Alison allow Lucien in? Will Lucien succeed in keeping his pack and mate safe?
LOVED getting a look into High House Canis. I loved how Lucien was determined to be different and not just take a life if he didn’t have to. I didn’t blame Alison for being closed off, but loved how once she allowed them in, she was willing to do anything she could! Great read!
