There’s more to my brother’s murder than I realised…Shadows in the halls, mysteries lurking around every corner.Whoever killed him is covering their tracks well. And now I’m walking a dangerous line between getting close to the four kings for information and wanting to crawl deeper under their skin for my own desires.I can’t trust anyone.I can’t let my guard down. And I must keep the urges of my … their skin for my own desires.
I can’t trust anyone.
I can’t let my guard down.
And I must keep the urges of my body separate from my heart.
But I’m starting to break all of my own rules.
I just hope I’m not falling for my brother’s killer.

Leon you’re my favorite! He brought the laughs and all the sweetness! Gabriel…..I feel as confused as the FMC but I’m pretty sure I want to punch him in the face. Ryder can sit and spin half the time but…… that ending. Dante *sigh* I like him in this book. The action and mystery were taken to a new level in this book. This is turning out to be one of my favorite series
I’m really enjoying this series so far it’s so imaginative and I have lots of questions that need answering like yesterday. This builds momentum pushing the storyline further still as Elise pushes for answers regarding her brother’s demise. There are definitely secrets still waiting to be revealed concerning all of the kings and their involvement in Gareth’s life and death.
Elise gets closer to all her obsessions here especially Leo and Dante they really took centre stage and the chemistry here was explosive. Gabriel is also having a change of heart when it comes to Elise he also manages to uncover some of her secrets but there is obviously something he feels great shame for and it definitely involves Elise’s brother. Then there’s Ryder he’s a tough one so determined to push away anything soft and show zero weakness in his path of personal vengeance he understands pain all too well and will go to any length to achieve his goals. But here he does manage to lower his guard slightly but only for the girl, he can’t stay away from showing a sliver of something that’s totally foreign to him that only she manages to bring forth. This is still only at a medium burn in regards to some of the characters but there’s so much tension and anticipation in the air.
This had action and passion and intrigue I love the fact it’s set in a magical school. Also, the unique aspect of these fae creatures is really appealed. I am especially loving Leo he’s bloody adorable and he and Dante make such a great tag team but I am hoping we do get much more Ryder and Gabriel in the next instalment to even things out. The finale here was explosive and I’m excited to see what happens next. War is definitely coming that for sure and I’m anticipating how this unfolds especially in regards to Elise’s kings.

I borrowed this book via the Kindle Unlimited program and am choosing to leave a fair and honest review.
I must admit that I binged the first three in this series before writing any reviews.
The best part of this series is the deliciously damaged broken boys – the four Kings of the school Sherilynn (Kenyon) McQueen couldn’t do better, and that’s saying a great deal.
Elise hacks her way into Zodiac Academy after the mysterious death of her brother, Gareth. She goes undercover to find the murderer. Her main suspects? The four Kings of the school, Gabriel the Harpy, Leon the lion shifter, Ryder the baskilisk and Dante the dragon shifter. Each of the boys is a criminal in his own special way and each is deeply damaged. As she begins to dig into the school, she finds even more suspects and more trouble than any young vampire should get herself into, ever!
A sexy, dark and slightly disturbing academy romance that, as the final page, is not a reverse harem, Dark Fae drives the reader deep into the Elise’s back story.
The writing never lets the reader catch their breaths as we move from exciting and terrifying action piece to scaldingly hot sex scene. Even the classroom scenes are tense.
All the main characters, including Gareth, take their turns as the narrators. This gives the reader a deeper sense of their trauma. Their voices are unique, allowing us to know who is speaking when.
Ms. Peckham and Ms. Valenti create an amazing world, where the Fae live. The Fae, in this series, are not the Sidhe that populate much of the urban fantasy market. Instead, they are shifters of many kinds who are also gifted the magics of their zodiac sign as well as other gifts.
The writing itself shifts between poetic to deeply brutal, both of which are stunningly beautiful. At times, some of the writing justifies reading this series on it’s own.
Of course, it isn’t only the beauty and the brutality of the writing that is fantastic. The sex scenes begin at scalding in the first book to so hot they leave the reader panting.
Various suspects are thrown in, to keep the mysteries of who murder Gareth among of others. As this review (which will appear on each of the first three books) is of the first three books, I can’t tell you all of the mysteries without leaving spoilers!
5 stars out of 5 for each book.
Wow another wonderful installment of the Dark Fae series. I have fallen more in Live with all four kings Leon is so funny and loving he would give the world to Elise. Gabriel is still super secretive about everything but would safe her any time she needed. Dante and Ryder made a deal so they both can spend time with her as (friends) even though they all want to be with her. Things are getting hot between them all and secrets are coming out. Elise is starting to find some things regarding her investigation into her brother’s death and things are getting serious can’t wait to read the next installment
This one flowed a little slower than the first but the amount of character development in this one is fantastic! Elise’s heart is in serious trouble. That’s what I’m predicting. What an ending to this one! One of my favorite parts was at Leon’s parents house. Such a great scene!
The steamy scenes, rivalry, betrayals, revenge, jealousy, mystery, suspense and more continues in this book. I’m enjoying the friendship between Dante and Leon, and I’m even enjoying how Ryder is slowly showing a softer side at times. However, its almost as if Elise’s desire to find her brothers killer is put on the back burner. This story is good there’s no denying that. It’s definitely interesting, entertaining and funny but I wish there was a bit less steamy scenes and more on what exactly happened to Gareth.
This series continues to get better and better. I am on the edge of my seat for all the answers! Characters continue to grow, the story keeps getting better.
I LOVED diving back down this rabbit hole! The audio was FANTASTIC! The relationships continue to develop, and seeing Elise’s feelings grow for each man in their own unique way made me smile. They all bring something different to the table and appeal to a different side of her personality. I can’t wait to see what happens next. There is clearly something big going on at the academy. Gareth’s death may be the reason she showed up, but if she can find some wonderful mates out of the opportunity and take down some formidable opponents, well that’s even better! In the meantime, maybe she can just keep them from killing each other?
Things are heating up in Elise’s quest to find out who killed her brother! Book 2 picks up from the cliff the Sisters threw us off in book 1.
This book is about building the relationships between characters while also filling in some of the blanks of what’s happened to Gareth. The Sisters have done a great job of teasing clues out both in flashbacks and through the various POVs. I love the method they are writing this series!
The FMC!
Elise is a babe! She is learning to grow closer to the guys and starting to heal from her brother’s death. She’s still finding answers but enjoying herself as she does. I love that Leon brings out a fun side of her, but I also love how she’s bringing Ryder out of his shell.
The Guys!
I will always love Leon the most, but this book makes it so that Ryder is a very very close second. I love the dynamics forming between Elise and the guys in solo relationships as well as in a group – so far Dante & Leon. The feud between the Brotherhood and Oscura clan is heating up and creating conflict but in the best way.
The Smut!
This book has one of my all-time fave sexy scenes! That shower scene is hot AF There’s so much action and sexual tension in this book that you can’t put it down!
Book 2 in the ruthless boys series and wow again im completely blown away the twists n turns the romance n the action make this series just incredible. Elise a vampire on the hunt to find her brothers killer but are the kings at fault or something darker.
So book 2 gives us a bit more insight of what happened to Gareth. I really love how we get chapters from his POV on the events leading up to his death. I really need to know what happened to him!
Elise gets closer to all four of the kings in this book and I cannot decide who I like the most. Gabriel has always been a favorite since I first met him in Zodiac Academy, but he really is an ass in this book. Leon is adorable in how he tries so hard with Elise. Dante is a complex character, he is ruthless but also a complete family man. Ryder’s dark past shaped him into a dark individual, but in this book we start to see a bit of a lighter side to him.
I absolutely love this book and with the final book in the series coming out on April 30th, this is the perfect time to start. This is a bully/enemies to lovers slow-ish burn revers harem. I love that you get chapters from everyone’s POV, even Gareth, depicting the events leading up to his death.
Savage Fae was even better than Dark Fae! I loved getting to see more about Elise’s life and the time leading up to Gareth’s death from his POV. We’ve started to see his relationships between the four kings of Aurora Academy.
Since the end of book 1, the relationships between Elise and the guys are starting to develop further and fate keeps pushing her back to all of them.
This book does end on a cliffhanger and what a cliffhanger it was! C&S are known for their shocking endings and this one did not disappoint. I am on the edge of my seat to see what happens next!
The sisters have done it again. Each and every time I pick up one of their books, I know that I am in for a wild ride and this story and series is certainly no exception. The books are so well written that they just draw you in and will not let you go until the very end.
We get to learn more about each of the Kings, Elsie and her brother. I loved learning more about them and finding out what makes them tick. The more Elsie delves into her brother’s murder, the more she wonders if she is going after the right people or not. And the more she’s around the Kings of the school, the more she can’t help but be attracted to them and at the same time they are each becoming a different person because of her.
There’s parts of this book that will have you laughing, crying and tearing out your hair…. but you will be wanting the next one now.
Bravo ladies, bravo!!!
I absolutely adore ZA series. They are twisted, fun, enjoyable and lots of laugh, as well as the heroines are tough and lovable and heroes are so diverse ….
aaaaannnnd I absolutely adore Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac as well. The anticipation (while waiting on the 2nd book to be published) almost “killed” me. The good part is that the waiting got a perfect reward – Savage Fae left me wanting, wishing and praying for more. More Rider, more Gabriel, Dante and Leon. The funny thing is that I usually hate RH books, but this is written so well that RH theme does not annoy me at all; actually, I love them all. Elise is strong, funny and lovable heroine who does not get boring with her “whining” as she has no whining and she does not feel sorry for her. She just goes and does what must be done.
Definitely anticipating next one (I really want to know where ZA comes into the picture here)
I received an ARC from the author’s team and decided to write a review. If I didn’t have an ARC, I would have bought it anyway, it is sooo good!!
