He’s everything she didn’t know she wanted. She’s everything he thought he could never have. The last thing I expect when I walk into The Hawkeye Club is to fall head over heels in lust. It’s supposed to be a rescue mission. I have to get my baby sister off the pole, into some clothes, and out of the grasp of the pussy peddler who somehow manipulated her into stripping. But the moment I see … the moment I see Savage Hawke and verbally spar with him, my ability to remain rational flies out the window and my libido takes center stage. I’ve never wanted a relationship—my time is better spent focusing on taking down the scum running this city—but what I want and what I need are apparently two different things.
Danika Eriksson storms into my office in her high heels and on her high horse. Her holier-than-thou attitude and accusations should offend me, but instead, I can’t get her out of my head or my heart. Her incomparable drive, take-no-prisoners attitude, and blatant honesty captivate me and hold me prisoner. I should steer clear, but my self-preservation instinct is apparently dead—which is exactly what our relationship will be once she knows everything. It’s only a matter of time.
The truth doesn’t always set you free. Sometimes, it just royally screws you.

Savage Collision: A Hawke Family Novel (The Hawke Family Book 1)
by Gwyn McNamee
5 Stars
Danika Eriksson, an investigative reporter for the Times can’t get a hold of her baby sister, when she finds out she is stripping at The Hawkeye Club she is beyond angry and goes on a rescue mission, she is convinced that somehow her sister was coerced into dropping out of college and taking to the pole for money. Danika is a tough as nails, take no prisoners kind of woman, she has no filter when it comes to running her mouth. She gets all she needs from men with one night stands and doesn’t want anything do with relationships. She’s currently working on trying to take down the head of the biggest crime syndicate in New Orleans who she has found ties in somehow with the Mayor.
Savage Hawke, owner of The Hawkeye Club, a high class gentlemen’s club, with very strict rules, he works hard to protect his reputation as well as his girls. He lost his dad when he was young and stepped in as sort of a father figure to his 3 sisters and younger brother as well as be as supportive as he could to his Mom.
Danika storms straight into Savage’s office at the club ready to do battle to rescue her baby sister from this man’s clutches, as soon as she sees him she is taken aback by the way her body is responding to him, but she stays strong and tears into him anyway. He is immediately captivated by her, her fiery attitude and no filter take him by surprise and he wants her. He knows he shouldn’t pursue her, when she learns of all the secrets from his past she will run away as fast as she can, but he can’t help himself….
When Danika can’t get this man out of her mind and receives a dinner invitation she wants to decline, but she can’t and their time together leaves her needing so much more. When some of his secrets are revealed her need to run is almost too much to ignore and she does just that, but she finds out quickly that what she wants and what she needs are two completely different things. Will his secrets drive her away forever or make him drive her away all on his own? Can he give her what she needs to satisfy her wants and desires? What happens when the assignment she is working on goes south really fast and to her surprise he may be the only one that can save her, but this could also be what drives her further away.
I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait to dive into the next. When the book first started I wasn’t sure if I’d like Danika, I thought at first I’d have trouble with her coldness and views on men/sex and her no filter but I was quickly and pleasantly surprised that not far into the story it actually worked and I loved her very quickly and I can’t even find words for how much I fell in love with Savage. This is my first book by this author but will in no way be my last. I loved how the story flowed and there was no fluff added in to just fill pages, every word was perfect. I loved it!!!!!
Savage Collision is book one in the Hawke Family series by Gwyn McNamee. I was first introduced to this author when reading the Scandalous Slip series and was so happy I discovered her. She is a witty, descriptive and extremely talented. Savage Collision was a more serious story that instantly grabbed my attention.
Dani had sass and attitude aplenty, and Savage feels that full force of it from the very first meeting. Savage is astounded and captivated. Their story is so edgy and fraught with danger and suspense. One thing blatantly obvious is the intense attraction. The chemistry is off the charts and I was drawn tight in anticipation. The drawing magnetism that is apparent between them is its own living, breathing entity, and left me a quivering mess of emotion.
Savage Collision is an amazing introduction into the Hawke family. Dani and Savage’s journey was electric, inspiring and arousing. The secondary characters I cannot wait to get to know more of and continue this dangerously addictive series. 5 stars
Savage Collision by Gwen McNamee an amazing five-star read. This is the first book in the Hawke Family series and deals with the oldest son of the family Savage (A family name) family is important to all of the Hawkes but it’s especially important to Savage as he has seen himself as the man of the family since he was about 10 years old. He has become a very successful business man and owns several bars and restaurants, and he also owns a strip club and it seems the strip club is the business causing most of the problems for him, most of the others run themselves with good managers apart from one manager who ran off with thousands of dollars, but that only causes a minor headache for Savage as he has to deal with police and finding a new manager. The strip club causes him the most problems as he has family members coming in accusing him of manipulating his girls to strip, but he has good security and runs his club on the up and up with very strict rules for his dancers, staff and customers, so these confrontations aren’t usually a problem. However, it’s one such confrontation that causes him the biggest headache of all.
Danika Eriksson storms into his office, all long legs that never end with an attitude to match, when she calls him a pussy peddler, he should be offended but instead he’s just very turned on and very into her despite his self-preservation telling him to get away fast, all he wants is for her to crawl to him, on her knees preferably. Savage is a man who likes to be in control, but it seems so does Ms Eriksson.
Danika stalks into the office to demand that Savage gets his hooks out of her baby sister and get her off the pole, as Danika knows her baby sister would never leave her promising college path to strip for money without help, she gets a shock when she sees him, she verbally spars with him and he makes her feel things she didn’t go there to feel. Her rational brain fly’s out of the window and her libido fly’s in, once she gets to grips with herself she walks out figuring she will speak to her sister and get to the bottom of it. Thinking that’s it she goes back to her life as an investigative journalist and tries to take down the scum of the city, and maybe look into Savage more, until a dozen roses land on her desk and she gets angry at the demand on the card. But as we all know anger can spark a passion.
This was the first Gwen McNamee book I have read, and I am sure it won’t be the last, she writes some of the best twists and turns that you cannot see coming, it’s been a thrilling un-put downable read from start to finish.
What an awesome debut romance book I feel in love when I read the synopsis of the book.. Seductive, sexy without being vulgar, soft.. suspense… mind pacing..As debut book, Gwyn did a fantastic story with a strong plot… I enjoyed reading it and crave for more…
This is my first book by this author and I was not disappointed. I love books that offer a good dose of suspense along with romance and heat and this book had all of that!
Danika meets Savage when she goes to his club to give him a piece of her mind and tell him exactly what she thinks of him and his profession.
There is instant mutual attraction but, of course, they avoid it, at first.
Danika is working on a story about some unsavory characters and her informant keeps getting cold feet, pulling her further and further into dangerous territory.
I can’t say anything more without giving too much away. However, I will say that if you like spice and suspense in your books, you should enjoy this one.
I gave only four stars because I felt some of the secondary characters could have been developed more to provide more depth and to get you invested enough to find out more about them in their spin off stories.
Overall, very entertaining and intriguing story.
This book made me laugh, cry and want to throw my kindle across the room. I loved it. I think you will too. I highly recommend this book. Congratulations Gwyn you did a fantastic job. You should be proud of yourself. Steam factor 10 stars. I received a free copy for an honest review.
