Praise from readers, bloggers, and authors call this book “The Best Book of 2017!” and a “Must Read Summer Sensation.”Welcome to the mysterious world of the rich and the damned in this gritty, modern day fairy tale. Two star-crossed lovers will either find their destiny or meet their fate in a world where demons come in the form of familiar faces and pawns aren’t just players, but deadly. She was … deadly.
She was my destiny.
I was her downfall.
We were a match made in hell.
But when we were together, that hell was pure heaven.
The moment I laid eyes on her, I knew she would pay the price for my sins. I wasn’t much older than she was, but old enough to know better. Old enough to know she would be good for me and I was bad for her. But I pursued her anyway. Back then I had hope that maybe she could change my future.
Maybe together we could change our fate . . .

Wow! Just wow!
I started this book with a hope and expectations that were completely blown out of the water. My childish wishes and dreams were slowly corrupted by reality. My ideas of happily ever after were thwarted…because it’s part one of a duet! But worst of all, the hopelessness that creeps over your body and heart while you read.
The loss of innocence and devastating truths make the reader feel more naive than Sarah Jane. It’s so well written and drives you to the brink. At no time did I stop to eat or deal with life, I had a desperate need for the finish…yet all I got was the current ending. Way to crush dreams by the way! Also my tears have yet to dry up.
I don’t remember my exact naive thoughts from before I started but now I cling to the only thing I have left- HOPE. Hope for the Queen.

I was so in to this story, I was devastated when it ended. And the cliffhanger!!! Holy crud.. that was probably the best and worst cliffhanger I’ve ever been put through. I love how this story shows both sides of the story, his and hers, with how they were thinking, feeling, and reacting. I think this is one of the better books that I’ve read. I’m reading book 2 right now…. just because I have to!
Another great read from one of my favourite authors out there. I really liked the chemistry between Alexander and Sarah Jane and I cannot wait to read the next book to know what happens next in this duet series….
Alexander and Sarah Jane meet when Alexander is at his lowest and when she was just 17. They have an instant connection and with every day passing, they become closer and closer. But not everything is what it seems and years later, secrets are about to come out… Will their love stand the test of time or will Alexander’s past tear them apart…?
OMG what a bizzare read… so much depth and angst… well done SL.Scott… Alex and Sara had the ‘IT’ forever love toward each other… but with so many layer of dark secret between them… it was heavy…sad… stomach turn in every pages.. I cant wait for chapter 2
Great story but hate when there’s a series.
This was a fantastic love story filled with deceit, lies and forever love. Love so strong that nothing can stop it. Once I read the first page, I couldn’t put it down until the last!
Alexander Kingwood IV, King as everyone calls him, is the typical bad boy. Still in school but working for his father and getting ready to take over the family empire. He has his own secrets.
Sara Jane was sweet and innocent. Just a seventeen year old girl, going to private school and working hard.
Then these two cross paths and life as they both know if will be forever changed. An immediate connection with an intense chemistry that could not be stopped. These two fell in love.
Alexander’s family has some dirty secrets. His mother was murdered and he is hell bent on finding out who is responsible…at any cost! This begins a whole series of events and tests their bond.
Sara Jane and Alexander share a kind of love that has no boundaries. Unconditional, supportive love that can overcome any obstacle. It will not be easy…but it will be EVERYTHING!! This is about their fight for the truth and their forever.
I absolutely got sucked into their world. The writing was flawless and I loved the flashback stories throughout. So many swoon-worthy moments between Alexander and Sara Jane. It really gave the full picture. Alexander’s professions of love to Sara Jane were epically beautiful! This was my first book by the author, but as soon as I finished I 1-clicked the second book. I am invested in this story and cannot wait to see what happens next.
My first SL Scott book and WOW what a read! A book that will grab you from the start, build and build until you’re racing to finish. This ending will leaving you not only wanting but begging for more. Now to patiently (not) wait for Savior. Highly recommend reading this!
Well damn! That was a hell of a ride!
Alexander “King” Kingwood and Sara Jane “Firefly” Grayson met days before her 18th birthday. He was on his Harley and she was standing in the rain wearing her Catholic schoolgirl uniform. They’re still together 3 years later. How, I don’t know. Sara Jane doesn’t even know because the man doesn’t let her in, doesn’t let her see the real him. The him that he thinks isn’t good enough for her. If only he knew just how much Sara Jane is prepared to do for him, how much she wants to save him. King has secrets, though, brutal, deadly secrets that just may get her and him killed if they ever come to light. He’s a man on a mission, on a quest for knowledge and vengeance. He’s got an evil father, like in any good fairytale, and Sara Jane is his Firefly, his “sunshine on a rainy day, a rainbow against gray clouds, hope in a Catholic school uniform.” But just because they were meant to be doesn’t mean they’re meant to last.
SL Scott is a poet, she has a way with words that not many others do. Savage drew me in, had me on the edge of my seat, while I waited for the proverbial bomb to drop. I knew shit was going to hit the fan and that it would be brutal, and it was, and now I’m dying because I won’t get answers until August!
Thank you SL for this sexy, suspenseful, emotional tale. If only August were here already…
Wow! What a story! It took us on a wild journey, with lots of twists and unexpected turns. I am definitely looking forward to reading the next book in this series. I definitely recommend this author, this book and this series.
“She was my destiny.
I was her downfall.
We were a match made in hell. But when we were together, that hell was pure heaven.”
Savage (The Kingwood Duet, #1)
This is not your average love story of boy meets girl, it is a story of a love that’s true but destructive because lies are told and consequences will happen because of them. I truly enjoyed this sad love story that had all kinds of elements including suspense. The twists and turns on this roller coaster will have thinking one thing anf then BAM it’s not what you thought for the most part.
The title only becomes part of the story at the end, Savage. Alexander is a rich kid on a mission but when he notices Sara Jane walking, the mission becomes to paths…finds the answers and follow my heart. Sara Jane is a rich girl but not in the way Alexander is, her world is light where as Alexander’s is dark. Sara Jane sees something in Alexander that no others see, his dark that hides his light.
When lies are revealed can Sara Jane forgive those who lied, especially Alexander? Can Alexander truly let go of Sara Jane after the events of the company party that revealed more lies? Will Sara Jane come back to Alexander after time has passed?
This was a book that once you start you can only put it down when your eyes close from tiredness. This story is told from both main characters but mostly Sara Jane. These two will take into their world and make you wonder what is going to happen to these two that are destined to possibly destroy each other or love each other?
The sex scenes will have you fanning yourself because the chemistry is off the charts for Sara Jane and Alexander. This is a book for those 18+ due to explicit scenes. This is not a stand alone so there is a cliffhanger.
I can’t wait for Savior the second part of this series to see what exactly happened. S.L. Scott is now an author I will look forward to reading in the future. 5/5 stars for the start to a extreme series.
**Reviewed for Sweet and Spicy Reads – ARC provided in return for an honest review**
I am ruined for all other books! S.L Scott slayed it with Savage. As a book reviewer I read a lot of Romance books and my reviews are posted from a 3 rating and above. There are a lot of 5 star reviews that I have given because I have been captivated in the book and escaped. I came across S.L. Scott when I started to read her sexy Rock Stars with the Resistance band. Her standalone books are great and I especially fell for Saving Grace. I knew before reading Savage that I would fall for Alexander and Sara Jane because I love the authors writing. What I never expected was the heartache and book hangover that I would have after I was finished reading this book!
Savage took my heart and soul and refuses to let me have them back. I was in turmoil but at the same in love with Alexander and Sara Jane. Their story is unique and as we read of their life together from the past to present, everything falls into place. There were great and amazing sexy time scenes. There were also some dark scenes that made me curl up and rock back and forth for awhile. Sara Jane had a lot emotions she battles and you are right there battling them with her. Alexander says he is not a good man, but you can only see him in the eyes of Sara Jane and see the good hiding in his soul.
The book did not end with a big build up. No, the ending has been building up from page one. I was crying so hard at the end and where it leaves off has you thinking what the hell did I just read and when does book two come back out. I feel like my world has tilted sideways and after some sleep, I still can not shake off the intensity of emotions this book gave me. I get it now. The pain, the hardship, the toll of emotions that Alexander and SJ had to endure was all for something bigger. The King and Queen were coming out and ready to take on the world. Savage without a doubt in my mind and heart is 2017’s Best Book I had the privileged of reading. S.L. Scott is a goddess with her words and I am spellbound by her MAGIC!
This book had my stomach in knots and my heart pounding. It made me angry, sad and hopeful. I was happy that Alexander found Sara Jane. That she was his light in all the darkness going on in his world. The ending of this book gutted me. I can’t wait to read the next book and see where the story goes.
OMG, August 13th HURRY UP!!!!
I feel battered and torn and emotionally rung out
This is one of those rare love stories that will stay with you for a long, long time
So much love and so much pain – But the hope and strength they have together – Epic!
Do not pass this up – If you take a chance on one book, one journey – let this be the one.
5 king stars! This book has a perfect combination between dark romance and poetic writing.
When we were little girls, we used to believe in fairly tales. We wanted to be a Princess because every Princess has a handsome Prince ready to protect her. But not all is pink in this life. Not every fairly tale has a “happily ever after” end.
Savage by S.L. Scott is the first book of the Kingwood Duet. This book has a perfect combination between dark romance and poetic writing. It has all the elements to be a really good book. The pace is fast and the characters are extremely complex. It’s an stunning read that will have you at the edge. The plot is addictive and original.
The author develops an astonishing story full of dark desires, lies, revenge, hope, redemption and strong love. You will find a pure heroine and a dark Prince. Love at first sight which will become a steady love. Together are a solid couple but lies, revenge and some undesirable people will try to tear them apart.
This is not a classical fairy tale. Here the Prince is a bad boy, a monster who is thirsty of revenge. Alexander Kingwood is dangerous. Loosing his mother has marked his future. He didn’t plan falling in love with his firefly but meeting her will seal his fate. If he is not careful with his revenge, he will loose his reason to life. He is sin waiting to happen a sinful mixture of a vulnerable boy and a cocky man. He needs his firefly’s goodness so hard that he is ready to let her go if that means she will find happiness. He can be a monster but his heart is sweet.
“My firefly has brought beauty to a life that had lost it, created magic by showing me how to love. I have to let her breathe to let her live. And if she strays too far, I have to trust she’ll return.”
The day Sara Jane and Alexander met was attraction and fate fault. She represents goodness, kindness and loyalty. Her love for Alex will be stronger every day in spite of the differences between them. Alex’s world can corrupt her and broke her but she is a stronger woman ready to fight for her King.
“Looking at him—his jaw tense, his eyes grayer in his honesty, his heart exposed to me in ways that scare him. He’s stunning in his agony, beautiful in his strength, and confident in his love for me. This is the man I fell in love with.”
Destiny is a really big bitch. When everything seems to be in order something must happen. Decisions shall be made and priorities change. Alexander is not only in love with Sara Jane, he wants more of her. In some strange way, he is training her to be a queen, his queen, because his world is full of hungry wolves.
“We’re more than people in love. We’re souls entwined in eternity.” “Thank you, Firefly. Please always fight for us.” Tilting my head up, I look at him. “I will . That’s a promise I’ll keep.”
Alex and Sara Jane are one of my favourite couples. They are opposite sides of the same coin. Everything can happen in this book. Let their story take you to the edge. Who does not want a bad boy like Alex? His dark side is all consuming.
“He’s not a monster. I hadn’t fallen in love with a monster like I feared. “You’re not your father, Alexander. You’re better than he ever was.” When he doesn’t say anything, I do. “You’re King for a reason.”
S.L. Scott is new to me and I don’t regret reading this book. Something I really enjoyed was her poetic writing. She is a very good and talented writer. I can’t wait to read the final book. I need more about Alex and Sara Jane. Alex is the new brand of a dark King. I urge to pick this book. It’s a must read you won’t want to miss.
