Linda Howard always delivers. This classic is a prime example of her outstanding craftsmanship of characters and relationships. Although I greatly favor her more recent mystery work this tear jerker is well worth the time.
I love this story. Sarah is so full of heart and Rome is so troubled but honorable. One of my favorite of the shorter Linda Howard stories and she is an all-time favorite for me.
I loved this book. the characters and plot were realistic and believable.
An old one but a great story.
Wonderful characters. Great story. Heart wrenching
Linda Howard is one of my favorite authors. This book is different than the ones I have read in the past. The hero is a jerk for most of the book and the heroine is way more understanding than I think he deserved. It is overall a good book and the story kept me interested.
An old favorite by Linda Howard. One where she really made a mark in the romance market. She went on to build an exciting career and two of the characters in this book had their own stories to tell.
Wonderful book. I have read this again and again it still remains one of my top
reads.
I usually love Linda Howard’s stories. This one, not so much. Can’t imagine an intelligent woman putting up with the harsh words from the man she supposedly loved for years. The part of the story about how this man and woman “lived” during her pregnancy is so unrealistic. Who would put up with this man.
Read years ago in paperback. Just as good reading again. Always read anything by Linda Howard.
One of my favorite Linda Howard books- a wonderful wonderful read
Linda Howard is one of my favorite authors. I’ll read anything she writes!

Sarah and Nate’s baby would be a year older than me. This gives me context, because it would be my parents’ generation. A woman focusing on her work and not getting married not pregnant was different back then.
Of course, her option inside a corporation was to be the secretary. No women in power places but helping those who had the power. Nowadays we also have male assistants.
The way she handled everything.. I mean I admire her. She was a martyr. He was a good guy but his pain made him harmful towards her and that was tough.
I loved the ending.
An excellent story by an excellent author!
A vintage Linda Howard that I still reread once a year when I want to have a tear-filled ‘happy ever after’ read. Truly romantic.
Great story line that has you hating one man and loving another.
I read this book from the library awhile ago- when I came across it as an ebook and read it again, I was reminded of how much I liked it and bought the paperback. It is a good story line to show that love is possible even after great tragedy.
Most of this book I spent in tears. But it is brout together nicely in the end.
I love this BOOK!!!!!
Wonderful book. I read everything by this author.
