I’ve spent my entire life pretending to be someone I’m not. Forced to hide in the slums of Tenebris from those who would enslave me, I carry the Golden Curse that has been passed through my family for generations. This affliction makes me the perfect breeder to carry the offspring of the Kings of Emperia and their elite warriors. I’ve tried everything to avoid this fate, until one careless … one careless mistake lands me in the hands of my enemy.
Unfortunately for King Leonidas, my name is Saphyre Aurelian, and I’ll make him regret the day he chose me as his breeder.
Saphyre is a fast burn Dark Fantasy Reverse Harem Romance. This trilogy contains explicit scenes and dark themes which may be triggering for some. If such material offends you, please do not buy these books.

What a great dark fantasy read! Those readers giving it low stars clearly didn’t read the trigger warnings. This isn’t a romance. It has non-con and dub-con and torture. If that isn’t your thing, don’t read it! If that doesn’t bother you, it’s a fantastic read. Scarlett and Loxley spin a tale of a brutal world with a brutal ruling class. The men are depraved, but the FMC is strong and smart and courageous. She’s a fighter and refuses to let her circumstances break her. It’s a story of darkness, but also one of light. Beautifully written!
This book is no joke! It’s not pitch black, but it’s also not a love story. Don’t let the cover fool you. I had to take a couple breaks just because I’m so used to the male characters eventually being gentle. Not this time! And I absolutely ADORE the ending.
Triple D! Dark, Depraved and Delicious. This book is extremely dark, and can bee extremely hard to read. It’s not a romance, it’s a heroine that fights from the beginning to end. She goes through unimaginable things and pain at the hands of some incredibly F***** up Lead males. All the warnings are there so read at your own risk and go In with an open mind! With it being banned and all the warnings you think the faint of hearts would stay away but the temptation is just too much! So let me say yes at several points in this book rape is happening. This book is fictional and also falls into the paranormal/fantasy category. It also happens at a different time. Sorry for my rant but some of the hate towards this book really pi$$ed me off before I even read it! With that out of the way, yes it was cringe worthy and hard to read at times because of things happening to Saphyre. My dark and depraved side definitely awoke with this book because it’s extremely erotic and you cant stop reading it, even thought you know it was wrong. My mind was right there battling with my body’s reaction and my brain. I couldn’t help but feel the connection to how real and raw this book was. I think the authors captured the internal struggle so accurately. I’m holding out hope that our heroine will bring these men to their knees and change the kingdom! I can’t wait for the next book!
I knew what I was getting into when I read this book. There are warnings everywhere. Extremely dark, adult content. Rape and torture. So I have to say, I’m slightly annoyed by the bad reviews complaining about this content. This is why the book was even banned from Amazon. So duh.
Yes, the content is intense. But this story is insanely well written. There is plenty of world building, but it is true there is not a huge amount of character development aside from the main character herself. But frankly, I really had no desire to get to know her torturers and abusers intimately at all. So I was perfectly fine with that.
I’m extremely impressed by the writing, and I will definitely read other books by these authors. I can’t wait for the next book because the ending was absolutely epic. Perhaps I should’ve, but somehow I didn’t see it coming at all!
If you are into this kind of stuff, this is a must read. Five stars for sure.
OMG the Dom con / sub con was intense as heck but this story was so freaking steamy it took all my will power just to put it down at one am to sleep. Holy cow I’m so glad they decided to continue the series I can’t wait for the next installment.
Warning before you read this, it is dark. It does has themes that have triggers. So be warned! But all in all I got great empowerment from this book. Powerful men using women as slaves. Why? Because their Kings, and Breeders are below them. You can torture, defile, and try to break her but she won’t be broken. Check Mate.
Dark, heavy material to read with a wonderful heroine, who really says: Who laughs last, laughs best!
Intense, stirringly written with heavy steps in the in between zone. Besides being evil and disgustingly arrogant, there is also being mean and being badly influenced by the environment. Apparently revenge and retaliation go a long way here, but it’s the right direction!
Even if it is unusual not to find a sympathizer on the male side, it fits wonderfully and you know exactly who is begging for a fist in his face and elsewhere.
I love the interesting combination of Mantigor, Dragon and Nightcrawler and want more. I hope the world design and the social order as well as the description of the simple/everyday togetherness continues and gets a little more space and depth in the future to round everything off a bit more.
Personally I am looking forward to the following books in the series and hope for a manageable waiting time.
Well, as expected, A-Zon has its difficulties when no fabric softener is used and blocks and banishes. Fortunately, there are other ways and marketplaces to get the book and load it on your Kindle, and the authors have gone to the trouble for their readers.
As long as you know yourself well enough as a reader and take the trigger warning to heart, you know what to expect and that’s exactly where you get it. So if you whine because you didn’t want to hear again, you can take a self-critical look in the mirror.
Yes, it’s dark, evil and mean, but that’s how it should be!
4,5 Stars
Saphyre and her sisters are Aurelian women, which makes them highly sought after by the Kings of the Emperia. Saphyre is at a club for the nobles and looking to steal to support her sisters and people. She is captured and taken to the King as his breeder. The King Leonidas has two other men Ryker and Raphael that will help him train Saphyre. This is a story of dark torture, rape and subjugation. There are scenes that will have you understand these people and why they are the way they are with their attitudes towards humans. If those are triggers for you, don’t read this book. The ending is interesting and Saphyre gets the last laugh so to speak.
OMG, WOW!
I am left speechless, this was sooo freaking good! This is DARK, and I mean very Dark. If you like your books dark with lots and lots of triggers, Heroes that are not Heroes (they are total psychotic ***holes), a Heroine that is stubborn and not willing to give in and stop fighting then this is the book you want!
Once I started Saphyre I couldn’t stop I was hooked and kept wanting more, oh and that ending OMG (you will understand when you read it).
A word of warning: This book contains dub-con, triggering dark themes and scenes. This book is not for the faint hearted. If these don’t bother you, please proceed with your reading. Prepare your mind and emotions to be pushed to its limits. You have been warned.
What do you expect when these two queens of dark and depravity co-write a book? Total mind f*ckery.
I must confess this book really pushes my limits. It brings out the worst in me. I hate Leonidas and his men with my whole being. There are times when I have to put this book down because I just can’t deal with my overwhelming frustration, anger and helplessness for Saphyre’s predicament. But these are also the reasons why I continue reading through. I love it when a book manages to make me feel strongly and this one makes me feel a lot.
In a world dominated by men and when women are viewed as an object, you will learn how to outsmart, outwit and most of all, survive against all odds. Saphyre is not your damsel in distress type. She thwarts and defies King Leonidas in every turn and when circumstances are against her, she learned how to pick her battles. Oh, and that ending though? I am smirking and slowly clapping my hands. Bravo. Karma is definitely a bitch.
This book is very, very dark. It can be potentially triggering. I’ve read some dark, depraved stuff and some parts of the book made me even me, uncomfortable. So this book is not for everyone. I didn’t really connect with any of the characters, lots of sex scenes *these scenes can be triggering*, and the story line has potential. The part that I really enjoyed was the ending #karma
I like these authors. Scarlett Snow and Loxley Savage are fantastic authors but together it’s a whole different level. I don’t really care for dark themes because I find myself disconnected throughout the whole book, and what’s the point of reading something if I’m not emotionally involved with what’s happening? However, I was really looking forward to this book though so I told myself to take a chance and read it. I will say this again, if you don’t like dark, gritty, themes then this book is SO not for you.
Now why a four and not a five? I hoped that there would be something in the book that I usually rely on when it comes to dark themes, that is voluntary submission and power of the submissive. We don’t really get to see that happening. It may happen in the next book because I get a glimpse of it in the end but it had more of an afterthought feeling than intentional. This book is hardcore breaking of will through force and coercion. This is my opinion, so others may feel different. This element and some others is something I, as a reader, rely on in a book. Just because something is dark does not mean that I secretly think I’m depraved because I enjoy it. I did enjoy parts of the book, I didn’t enjoy other parts of the book. But for some readers who don’t need these elements in a book they will enjoy it. It’s a beautifully dark piece of literacy. They are very talented authors and I may consider continuing this series because of the ending.
Overall: 4/5
Definitely pay attention to those trigger warnings, but if you like dark romances this one is flaming hot. A strong willed, defiant female against some equally strong men there’s bound to be problems. Love the character building and can’t wait to see where this series goes.
