You can’t go wrong with any of Annabelle Costa’s stories. They’ll leave an impression on you that you’ll never forget. In this box set you have four little holiday novellas about Dean and Callie, each with Ms. Costa’s special mix of humor, factual information, and romance. My full reviews for Books 1, 2, and 3 can be found on each of their book pages, but here’s a quick summary:
Book 1 “Santa Crush” is the charming meet cute for Dean and Callie. It’s poignant and endearing. Dean plays Santa and they flirt but Dean doesn’t feel worthy of a relationship, as he is no longer secure in his masculinity. But Callie can fix that.
Book 2 “Valentine’s Date Disaster” tells the story of Dean and Callie’s first date. Dean is new to this in his current condition and yeah there are bumps in the road but Callie doesn’t care. Every minute she spends with Dean is delightful to her, that’s how much she likes him. And he likes her back. Callie becomes Dean’s reason for moving forward.
Book 3 “25 Candles” is the story of how Callie gets the birthday present she wants most of all. She wants the whole enchilada. Accomplishing it has been a difficult and disconcerting journey for Dean. But for Callie he’ll do anything. This one’s all about mutual patience and devotion.
Book 4 “Santa’s Girl” is Dean and Callie’s happy ending. What I feel for this story is beyond words. It’s so sincere. That scene in the stairwell couldn’t be more impactful and heart-rending. This story really brought Dean and Callie full circle—back to the Santa suit. It’s funny, it’s loving, and it’s beautiful. And although it’s the perfect ending, I still want more. Their struggles of course aren’t over, but their victories will be sweet.
All I can say is, do yourself a favor and read this set. You won’t believe how much sweetness and love and understanding can be packing into these little books. They’re just everything we read romance for.
I received the 1st novella – “Santa Crush” – for free from a giveaway just before Christmas. After reading it, I immediately purchased this boxed set because Callie & Dean’s story was sweet and delightfully different. Discovering that Ms Costa is a physical therapist gives me a good understanding of her inspiration for Dean (the hero). I just finished “Valentine’s Date Disaster” – adorable – and am halfway through “25 Candles” – really good so far!
So to read the last chapter of Callie and Dean’s story I have to get this box.
A box doesn’t bother me but I had to pay it a full price for only the last part.
Whatever…
Here is a compilation of my reviews
Santa Crush
It is a perfect Christmas story!
My only complain is I would have liked it longer to see more of Dean and Callie.
Dean is still recovering and dealing to accept he will not walk again.
Callie is a law-student and is totally broke, why she accepted the elf job at the mall.
The storyline is centered on their first day meeting, how they interacted and were instantly attracted.
It is a nice book, Dean is afraid to see pity or being rejected because of his wheelchair but for Callie, will he go past his fear? And will Callie understand?
Valentine’s day disaster
It is as short as Santa Crush, but it was so good to see back Callie and Dean.
They are both so sweet, Dean with his fear to be rejected and Callie to do something wrong.
So very much that they got the date of hell, but when they should be defeated and parting way, it brings them closer.
25 candles
After three months of dating, Dean is now able to rent a flat, so to have really alone time with Callie, with no mother hiding behind the door or roommate.
Here is the only book which deals with sex issue, I do loved how the author did not shy away and was true to the facts. Callie is very great character, she tries her best to understand and help Dean. As for him, it is not easy, talking about intimate issues to strangers, facing failures but also trying to listen to her and others.
It was sad also to see Callie’s entourage trying to convince her Dean is no good for her.
Each new challenge is so realistic but they solve it together with no trumpet nor fireworks.
Santa’s girl
The final installment in Dean and Callie’s story.
Near two years have passed since their first encounter m, they lives together, Callie has a job but Dean is still unable to get one because he is in wheelchair. Until he got an appointment for an interview.
As usual with them, it always goes to hell, and not everyone gets its right reward or punishment but it teaches them what is more important.
Both are two great exemplary individuals who accept another with open eyes and no judgement.
