Kaitlyn Hughes always wanted to run her own bakery. After attending culinary school in Paris, she began working under one of the best chefs in the business and fell in love. Life was perfect, or so she thought. When her parents ask her to come home for the holidays, she decides to take a much-deserved vacation with support and encouragement of her boss. Five years away does something to you. It … you. It messes with your memory and makes you believe that you don’t miss the things that you do. You don’t realize it until its too late.
When Kaitlyn unexpectedly runs into Eli Baker, the one she left behind, all bets are off. Promises are forgotten. What ifs roar to life, and what seemed like a dream soon becomes a nightmare. Does absence really make the heart grow fonder? How much are you willing to give up for true love?
This book contains profanity and graphic sexual situations. It is intended for adult readers.

Since Heather D’Agostino gave us a taste of Eli and Kait for the holidays I have been waiting not so patiently for their story. It seemed that when these two were young they had been made for each other but when hopes and dreams had whisked Kaitlyn off to Paris, Eli’s heart was broken. Five years later, Kait returned for the holidays but she again ran to her home in Paris. Another five years and Kait returns once again but for good this time. She is here to fulfill her life long dream, to have her own bakery. Eli is still here but has there been too much time and too many miles between them? I was so excited to read this one and see what the continuation of Kait and Eli’s story would produce. It was also wonderful to catch glimpses of Jackson and Tessa as well from Pieces of Forever.

Sands of Time by Heather D’agostino is a cute story of Kaitlyn and Eli. They were teenage sweethearts. However when an opportunity arises for Kaitlyn to study abroad she jumps at the chance leaving Eli and their dreams behind. Years later she returns home for Christmas and runs into Eli. Kaitlyn realizes her feelings for Eli haven’t changed and she can’t be around him without something happening. She doesn’t want to lead him on and she is in a place in her life where they could never be. Eli never thought he would see Kaitlyn again and his feelings for her haven’t changed in all these years. He wants her but she ran. There is something about the way this author tells a story that I just love. It is not about hot sex but about an emotional connection that you feel all the way down to your toes. When I get an opportunity to read her books I know I will be taken on an emotional journey with characters that I care about and want to see them get their happy ending. I am never disappointed. This story was emotionally rocky and I wasn’t sure where these two would end up. Totally satisfied!! 4.5 stars for me.
