Kristi Hartinger has come to terms with her life as a single, thirty-something woman. She was in love . . . once. But following her boyfriend’s tragic death, no one else could capture her heart. And nothing else could fill that void, though the serenity of the ocean came close. Two years ago, Kristi left the craziness of her Wall Street career behind and embraced a simpler life on her family’s … private island off the coast of Maine. As a resident of the small beach community, she anticipates a quiet future—until she comes face-to-face with her past. Ace Samson is dead, or so the world believes. As a member of a secret organization known as the guardians, he was forced to fake his death years ago, leaving everything behind when he became an agent. So when he is selected to offer a potential new recruit a job with the organization, Ace braces himself: for the first time in more than a decade, he must face the woman he loved—and left. Kristi’s world is rocked by Ace’s sudden reappearance, and she’s soon drawn into his world of danger and cover-up. But when Kristi herself becomes a target, Ace will do whatever it takes to protect the only woman he has ever loved.

Sanctuary (Guardian #3) by Traci Hunter Abramson is an action packed thriller. A fast paced storyline teamed with engaging characters, a beautiful New England coastal setting, and wicked villains make for an exciting read.
Kristi has mourned the death of her boyfriend Ace for 20 years. She is shocked when he shows up on her island to ask her to work for the same secret organization that he does. The plot has intrigue, action, some romance and a great mystery. I love the characters and the the book has plenty of action but not the gore of others.
I really enjoy this author. I have read some of her other books from a different series. Her books have plenty of action and keep me turning the page. In fact on this one, I had less than an hour left but decided I better go to sleep because it was so late. Should have just finished the book because I stayed awake thinking about what was going to happen next! I would definitely recommend this book. Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.
How did it take me so long to discover Traci’s books?? This book was fantastically suspenseful and I was so captivated by the plot I could not have put it down if I tried. Learn from my mistakes and don’t wait any longer to read this series!
Another great book in the Guardians installment from Traci! It’s been so fun to have a series to read with my husband that we both enjoy. The suspense makes it an automatic winner for my hubby and I can’t deny I love the romance.
This one felt a little longer to me than the first two did. Probably because poor Kristi had all the worst kinds of trouble follow her around, one thing after the other. But I just really wanted the romance to move forward a bit more! If you haven’t noticed, I am not a fan of back-and-forth, on-again off-again mentality. Just make up your mind! Ha. But that’s a personal quirk.
I will say my husband was not a huge fan of the ending. He felt like Ace should have made a different decision than the one that Kristi ended up choosing. I know that sounds confusing but trust me, you’ll understand if you read it. I’m actually not sure I agree with my hubby. I think things would have been even more complicated. I’m curious what camp others would fall into. Either way, this relationship is by far the most complicated in the series. But we still really liked it.
Ace has kind of been a favorite of mine throughout the series. He’s like a 007, Sherlock Holmes, Bourne kind of guy. He solves problems, gets jobs done, and i amazing at it every time. So I was excited to read his story. He’s just as good in this book as the snippets we get in the previous books. I liked his emotional interest in this story. Of necessity he has been pretty emotionally reserved in the other books so it was cool to start filling in more of his character with this book.
Kristi is independent, which I like. I also like that she thinks ahead and realizes ramifications in the future for her choices now. It’s always enjoyable to have characters with more maturity and Kristi has already been through a lot that has made her grow quite a bit. But there’s a good amount of character development throughout, which I liked.
I also liked that Kade and Renee had a fairly significant role to play in this book. I liked having more of them included.
Rating:
SANCTUARY is a story full of suspense, friendship, undercover operatives, and a little romance. Those who have followed the Saint Squad series and the Guardians series up to this point will enjoy cameos from prior characters, and those new to these series will find a new author and series to become a fan of. Definitely recommended to romantic suspense fans in both the general market and those who enjoy inspirational romance!
I love when you have a few pages left of a book and you’re disappointed for it to end. That means it’s been a great read and this one was that for me. I loved how all the technical, undercover, spy stuff worked for me logically. I can get a little picky when it comes to spies and FBI/CIA etc. as characters. I expect them to have decent training and not to be too easily fooled. The villains in this story are apparent and also not. I had guessed, but wasn’t a hundred percent sure who the culprits were and what would happen. I also appreciated that the good guys faced opposition that was difficult and acted upon some prior training (without giving too much away). This story had a constant feeling of suspense, and having worthy villains made for an exciting read all the way to the end.
I also can’t love a book without loving the characters. This story also didn’t disappoint here. I loved Ace and Kristi! They’re smart, brave, strong, and have an emotional past to each other. I liked that this story built their relationship on that past and then grew it from there. It made things feel genuine. I also liked that the author let these characters run with their own doubts and emotions, which I felt were realistic under the situation. The romance didn’t feel like it overtook the story, which I appreciated. It was sweet and just something that added to the story. I really loved Ace’s and Kristi’s relationship as well as seeing more of Renee and Kade. There was also a very minor inspirational element (literally maybe two sentences of the book), so those who read general romantic suspense or inspirational suspense won’t have any issues here.
In the end, was it what I wished for? I really loved this story from beginning to end. Romance, suspense, action, interesting and likable characters… what more could readers ask for? My favorite of the series so far. Definitely pick this one up!
Content: Some violence due to the situation, but clean.

Abramson always delivers a fast-paced and action-packed novel and Sanctuary is no exception! I love how Abramson sets the story and she has you glued from the get-go! I have been waiting patiently for Ace to get his story so I was beyond excited when I learned this book was coming out. This is definitely a suspense novel you do not want to miss! Edge of your seat, anxious, trying to figure out what is going on…this book is on hit and one you will be glad you sat down to read! But make sure you have time on your hands when you do sit down, because once you start reading, you will not be able to stop! Bravo to Abramson! I received a copy of this book for free; all thoughts and opinions are my own.
