I did not like this book. The story line was OK but the dialogue was stupid and the heroine annoying.I didn’t even finish reading it.
As usual the characters created by this author are interesting and intelligent and the story is engaging.
I like Kate and this series very much, fast moving.

Kept me going.
The characters are both realistic and entertaining, the storyline is believable and the conclusion is satisfying.
Misspelled words
Two police jurisdictions are involved in investigating what happened to a young black man whose body, dressed in tattered clothes, was found on a beach. Kate Redman from one jurisdiction and Chloe Wapping from the other, work together to find out the identity of the young man and how he drowned. Their investigation leads them to Sanctuary, a charity financed by a wealthy couple, Nuria and Peregrine Sanderby, for newly arrived migrants. Here they meet the Sanctuary manager, Ruth ,who they think is misleading them about the identity of the young man after they show her his picture. Kate and Chloe work well together and after another person involved in Sanctuary, Nadia, is found dead by apparent suicide, they explore further to see if there is a connection between the two deaths. Both deaths are ruled murders. The ending surprised me because until almost the end, I had thought up different scenarios about the murders. The book was excellent and I highly recommend it.
You get a view of what life is like for people who are persecuted for their beliefs or actions in other countries. It addresses the immigration situation from a different viewpoint.
Without giving away too much about the story, I will say that there were a number of unexpected events during the course of an investigation of a suspicious death. The characters were interesting and realistic, the writing was easy to read but well done. I am a reader who reads each word, goes back and rereads sections, and really consumes a book. This was a perfect read for me.
Love Kate Redman
I like the characters in this series
