San Francico Lost is filled with expectations and disappointments, revelations and discoveries and most of all two people on opposite ends of experience, wealth and privilege. Yet, they learn from another being separated by time, distance, and lies of omission. Loved this second part to the trilogy.
In trying to recapture what she had with James, Christiana make a serious error in judgement. Once she provides explanations for her actions in their first weekend together, James agrees to train her as a submissive with a definite outcome in mind. Christiana finds herself falling for him but is unsure how to protect her heart.
A great second instalment
Having read Book #1 (Longing) I jumped straight into this story and despite, again, it not following the path I expected I absolutely loved it. Just like the first book I didn’t want to put this down.
Whilst it wasn’t perhaps quite as erotic as Longing, this book concentrated on giving the characters depth and persuading us of the emotions involved. That’s not to say it didn’t have its share of hot BDSM play but where as #1 drew me in with it’s intrigue and steam, this allowed me to become invested in James and Christiana as a couple.
I would be jumping straight into book #3 if I didn’t have 4 arcs to read by the weekend. I’m tempted to sneak-read it in between the arcs but the story and writing deserve more than a hurried flick through. I want to wallow in the story and relish every moment of it and can’t wait to indulge myself in it.
This was a great continuation of the story. When Christiana doesn’t appear the next month at The Orchid Club event, James finds out that Christiana isn’t a member. Lillian is concerned they may need to close the club – she thinks Christiana may be a reporter. But James is convinced she isn’t and asks for time to track her down and learn the truth. What James learns isn’t what he is expecting. Will this be just a short term dom/sub relationship, or will it develop into something more?
Lila Dubois continues with James and Christina’s story. I love this story, the characters have depth, the story is well paced, and is a page turner. I love the twists the story takes and Lila’s story telling really draws you in. Part 3, here I come!!
I am voluntarily reviewing an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
San Francisco Lost continues James and Christiana’s story from where Longing ended. Christiana’s actions in the beginning of Lost took a deep dive into her psyche and emotional state. James came in like a prince and rescued Christiana by offering himself to teach her the ways of the BDSM world. Lost ended on the most erotic and romantic scenes thus far and hinted at an adventurous trip abroad.
Our story advances a month and Christiana is not listening to her brain or her inner instincts. This story could take a dark dangerous turn, but this storyline is more fun and discovery. Thank goodness. With this installment we learn more about our characters and yes they have some more sexy fun. Warning, you may need a fan while reading this tale. What’s next for our couple, will San Francisco be all they have?
When Christiana doesn’t show up at the next Orchid Club event, James is convinced she is in danger and desperately tries to track her down. Christiana tries to find what she had with James elsewhere and learns a painful lesson. Christiana and James are reunited and I fell under their spell again! Will it be forever this time? I love these characters. They fit so perfectly and care so much for each other. Now if James would only get over the notion than his time with Christiana is only temporary… I can’t wait for book three of this excellent romance series by Lila Dubois, who happens to be one of my favorite storytellers.
I am voluntarily reviewing an advance reader copy of this book.
Lord this book should come with a warning label.. do not read in public. James is so many evil wicked fantasies brought to life. But to walk away after 2 weeks… I think Christiana doesn’t have a choice but to keep following that white rabbit.
When I finished San Francisco Longing, I was left with mixed feelings. The story felt complete. The weekend was over. But there was so much left to their story. I knew I had to get my hands on the next book! Fast!
This book picks up right where San Francisco Longing left off. The magical weekend is over, and Christiana goes back to her normal every day life. But she doesn’t feel like she is the same person. It’s like her eyes have been opened to a whole new world that she never knew was there. And she wants it back. This leads her to a situation that could have been much worse than it was, but still it was pretty bad. And she isn’t sure that she will ever find those feelings again. Or if she should even try. James goes through so many emotions in this book. Anticipation. Disappointment. Anger. Jealousy. He is all over the spectrum. And he seems to be just as confused as Christiana about what he wants.
This book flows perfectly with the first book. The connection between Christiana and James is still there, still as hot, still as explosive. I loved seeing the changes in their relationship, the differences in who they are to each other. And that ending! Something big is coming, I just know it! I can’t wait to read the next book, to see what happens!
Part 2 – As good or Better!!
Christiana knows she is “missing” this month’s meeting of the Orchid Club; and standing up James.
James is discovering Christiana is NOT a member of this special club. When a private investigator is able to determine who and where she is, he confronts her. He is caught off-guard when she leaps into his arms happy to see him. When he agrees to train her there is a rocky start – but discussion reveals where the problem is – ultimately setting us up for the finale of this sizzling, sensual series.
I adore this series. It is intense, snarky and explosive!!.
*** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book ***
A sweet sensual read not overly sexy but just the right amount. Could have been a little longer because it just seemed to short.
I’m still very interested in how it will all end for James and Christiana!
Revelations
This second part of the series took me on a roller coaster of emotions, expectations, starts and stops, and finally re-evaluation of the relationship of Christiana and James.
Although we get only a short glimpse, actually not even a day of their time together, their scene negotiations are already so deeply sensuous, my toes curled.
Where is part three??!!
Enjoyed the continuation of the push/pull of James & Christana. Foolish choices brings great misunderstandings on both sides…will they become a couple in love or will they part ways with more misunderstandings. Only time will tell. Looking forward to finding out.
Part two of the San Francisco trilogy. Picks up where part one leaves off, not recommended as stand-alone. Christiana is researching BDSM and going to munches looking for a Dom. James is looking forward to collaring Christiana for the Orchid club event. When neither of them gets what they want they start researching each other. James wants answers and Christiana wants to tell him the truth. I am looking forward to the final book in this trilogy
Oh, that was good, like really good! We pick up where our previous book ended, one month later, when Christiana and James are supposed to meet up again. He’s worried, she’s distraught. Things happen, bad things, then good things, then perfect things. We are all set-up for things to go swimmingly, but is it forever? Or is this lining up to be a HFN? The undeniable heat between our two leads is palpable, they can’t deny it, and you can’t help but feel it, but is it enough? Book three will certainly give us some more answers, one does hope!
