What a whirlwind…from working in reality to fantasy and boredom to something you never thought you’d find. Can this couple step out of their boxes and find the love they need or will foolish choices and less honest between them both drive a wedge between them….Cannot wait for the next book.
San Francisco Longing is part 1 of 3. Christiana stumbles upon a secret BDSM society that exposes her to the pleasurable pains of BDSM scenes. Christiana catches the attention of James who provides experiences beyond Christiana’s imagination. Lila Dubois writes another page turner with great anticipation for part 2 of James and Christiana’s story.
Lila DuBois has done it again!! SF Longing is the first book in a new trilogy and a great start to the new year. When Christina stumbles upon a “traveling” BDSM club, she is entranced with everything she sees. James sees her and wants the challenge of introducing her into this world. They have three nights only. Lila creates a great story of their growing relationship, her concerns with their very different backgrounds, and a killer cliffhanger. I can’t wait to see what happens next!!
Received a ARC and this is my honest review.
This book grabbed me from the beginning and never let me go! The heat and mystery that is woven into the scenes is just enough to keep you going while you beg for more. It does end on a “cliffhanger” of sorts but you are not left unsatisfied by a great read first!! I could not put it down until it was over.
I love books about smart women who let their minds rest and just do. The instant attraction between Christiana and James could be skin deep, could be the environment, could be scary. This story takes “one of us”, Chris is a college graduate, working a government job, saving for her future, and she is thrown into the sexy playground of the rich and affluent. But it is only pretend and for a limited time. This tale is so much fun to read and just made me “feel” like Christiana through the looking glass. What’s next? At least we don’t have long to find out. I wait with baited breath.
I really had no idea what to expect as I started this book but I became enthralled as I read it. From the outset Lila Dubois creates a mysterious, suspenseful, erotic atmosphere as her main female character, Christiana, explores the surreal world she finds beyond a brick and mortar building. Ms Dubois plays this perfectly building the emotions and intrigue in her characters so that you are hoping for the best but fearing the inevitable in this decadently sensual world she’s created.
This is part one in a trilogy. I normally do not like cliffhangers, but I knew that this was a trilogy before starting. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next two. Christiana stumbles into a very private BDSM event and is too intrigued to leave. James has been attending the once a month private BDSM events but has become bored with them until he meets Christiana. Christiana and James spend the three-night event together and he thinking she is a member requests that they meet up at the next event a month later. I can not wait for the next book!
San Francisco Longing by Lila Dubois
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I’m not usually a fan of serials, really don’t like cliff hangers. But since I absolutely adore this author’s writing, I decided to give it a go. Plus, the blurb sounded too good to pass up! As I started reading, I became so engrossed in the spectacular descriptions, that I read the book in one sitting! The writing was so vivid, I could actually picture the club, hidden away in a derelict building. My heart was pounding with anticipation, and a little bit of trepidation. And that first kiss! I just can’t get over how amazing that was!
Christiana is just your average, girl next door, living her ordinary life in San Francisco. Until she stumbles upon something she was never meant to find, and her insatiable curiosity leads her into a weekend so far outside of her realm of experience that she is sure discovery is inevitable.
James is bored. No other way to describe it. He has a life that is the envy of everyone, anything he wants at his fingertips, but he is bored. Nothing captures his attention, nothing fulfills him anymore, and he has no idea what to do about it. And then he catches sight of Christiana.
This story is absolutely scorching. The vivid descriptions, unique story line, and the undeniable chemistry between James and Christiana made for a book that I just couldn’t put down. And while I usually do not like cliff hangers, (and this story definitely has one!) I don’t feel like the story ended unfinished, like most cliff hangers do. The story doesn’t feel incomplete, it feels like the author did what she set out to do, introducing us to James and Christiana, and their story. I can’t wait to dive into the next book!
This was a sensual read, yet, it wasn’t cloaked in mist, but had a soft light shown on it the whole time. Except at the end, that was a glaring spotlight that showed the danger and worry. But before that, two lonely souls, meeting by chance, not meant to meet, and definitely not destined to meet again, spend glorious time together and make a real connection. He is delighted, she knows the truth. He sees a beginning, while she knows it is the end. He is gutted, she makes poor decisions. Cue the cliffhanger, completing this part of the journey, and setting up the next chapter between these two. Loved it!
So, I’m a HUGE fan of all things “Lila DuBois” and this new series is no exception.
The San Francisco Trilogy is off to a great start. The first few chapters were a little … slow, after that it really heats up in that familiar Dubois fashion.
As always, there is a great cast of characters, in depth world building, and plenty of kink.
This is a three part story so there is a cliffhanger of sorts.
I personally can’t wait for the next installment.
Happy Reading:)
I voluntarily received an ARC of “San Francisco Longing” an this is my honest opinion.
