This fast paced story was full of suspense from the start and will keep you on your toes until the very end!
Ally and Merrick meet at a bar and well one thing leads to another and they have one incredible night together and that is all it is supposed to be. Ally is a federal agent and she is dedicated to her job and the to the law. Merrick is a hitman, the complete opposite end of the law from Ally. However, he is drawn to her and Ally is drawn to him. The downside? Merrick’s latest target just so happens to be Ally.
I LOVED the chemistry between Ally and Merrick and the banter between them. I loved that they are on opposite sides of the law and it added a lot to their dynamic. Their story was full of suspense and I couldn’t stop guessing what was going to happen next.
If you’re looking for a romantic suspense with heat this is one to read!
3.5* ARC Review – FBI Agent One Night Stand
This is the first book I have read by this author and in this series. I have voluntarily left this review from the ARC I received. There are some shadows from the other books in the series, but it could be read as a standalone. It is the story of FBI Special Agent Ally Rhodes is finishing up an organized crime case and thinks back to the case she has never been able to solve, her father’s murder. Then she meets a man in a bar and has a one-night stand, or so she thinks. They have explosive chemistry that keeps them together as a couple, but they also work well together and have complementary skills. Merrick, the man she just met, continues to pursue her and she continues to see him, even though she has misgivings about him. Early in the book, I thought of him as much of an anti-hero, but he grew on me. Merrick was a military sniper and then went into other “government work”. They then work together to find answers about her father while being pursued by people who do not want that information to come out. Plenty of action and heat to keep pages turning.
Holy wow, this book! How have I not found this author before this?! It seems I now have a lot of catching up to do, because if all of her books are as good as this one, I’ve really been missing out. I’m so excited to find another phenomenal storyteller in contemporary romance!
Ally Rhodes is an FBI agent and a strict rule follower. In her twelve years as an agent, there’s one case she hasn’t been able to forget – the murder of her father, a New York City police officer. But her looking into the cold case after all these years sets off a series of events that may just cost Ally her life.
Merrick Jensen is a man who doesn’t exist. He takes the jobs he can live with, eliminating people who have done terrible things and don’t deserve to take another breath. When he meets Ally in a bar one night, something in her calls to him and brings all of his protective instincts to the surface. But it’s all they can do to keep each other and themselves safe as Ally’s investigation gets too close to the truth.
This story kept me on the edge of my seat as I flew through the pages. I gnawed my nails to nubs as my eyes ate up each scene, desperate to find out what happened next. I loved every second of the suspense, drama and steam! If you’re looking for a new-to-you indie author, look no further. This will be one of your absolutely best romantic suspense reads of the year!
