Ancient church rituals meet cutting-edge crime-solving in this thriller in the #1 New York Times bestselling series featuring NYPSD Lieutenant Eve Dallas.Seconds after partaking of wine during a Catholic funeral mass, Father Miguel Flores is dead on the altar. Detective Lieutenant Eve Dallas confirms that the consecrated wine contained enough potassium cyanide to kill a rhino. And though the East … rhino. And though the East Harlem neighborhood is a long way from the stone mansion she shares with her billionaire husband Roarke, it’s the holiness flying around St. Christobal’s that makes her uneasy.
The autopsy reveals faint scars of knife wounds, a removed tattoo—and evidence of plastic surgery suggesting “Father Flores” may not be the man his parishioners thought. Now, as Eve pieces together clues that suggest identity theft, gang connections, and a deeply personal act of revenge, she hopes to track down whoever committed this unholy act. Until a second murder—in front of an even larger crowd of worshippers—knocks the whole investigation sideways…

Just love the story of Eve and Rourke
This series is the BEST!
I opened it and didn’t close it until the next morning. Make sure you have plenty of time set aside. You’ll be glad you did.
Love all the Death books.
I have every book in J.D. Robb’s “in Death” series. I love this series set in the future. Eve Dallas is the smart, kick-ass main character. She is a complicated woman who has grown and evolved over the series. Romance is provided by her husband Roarke, who is the richest man in the universe. They have a wonderful, interesting group of friends. I recommend this book and the whole series for those who like murder mystery and a little romance.
Always love Dallas and Roarke’s interactions and loving relationship. I especially love Peabody and her ability to see the softer side of any situation including Dallas. I also like that it is placed in the near future. This story made me laugh and cry. Thanks for a great read.
Like the rest of the books in this series, the book combines police procedure and romance (including sexual experiences) with just a hint of science fiction. If you are not a fan of any of these genres, this book may not be for you.
I have read every one of J.D. Robb’s books thus far and will continue to follow her writings. She’s great and I love Eve and Roark, and all the wonderful characters living in their world. Keep them coming.
I read her books the second I get them, I love the settings, the people and the mystery. I don’t usually like futurist stories but these are enough like now to not bother me but peak my interest in what might happen. If you haven’t read these books, I’d start at the beginning, but even if you don’t, you’ll have a compelling mystery and great characters to spend time with.
Love the whole series.
Similar to her other “IN DEATH” series except different backgrounds on the criminals. Fantasy in so far it is in the 26th century, but the main characters are in all the stories and you get caught up in their lives as well as Waiting to see if they catch the bad guys.
The in death series is a favorite. Good enough to re-read them all again. Eve dallas and her aide are smart and funny. A great team i cant get enough of. I highly recommend
Always one of my favorite authors. Have read all her books. Hasn’t had one let me down yet.
As always J D Robb delivers. This is the most fast paced interesting series out there. Well fleshed out characters, with back stories that just keep adding richness to the plots. The relationships between the MCs and their circle of friends are just as good as the mysteries. While the occasional story may not be as good as all the rest the flow is steady and the others carry it along. I believe Robb has built such a believable world that she can concentrate on the characters and plot and develop a story worth the money and time.
Never disappointed in this series!!
The fun continues with Dallas and Roarke. Own all of them and when I’m waiting for the next one, I start over again!
Great book, I have read everyone of this series and I am waiting on a new release
Love all the J D Robb books.
I hate science fiction but Dallas and the scenes are believable and a realistic view. Of the future . Great. Exercise for the mind . Quite belivle and with humor
Another great story by JD Robb!
