Ancient church rituals meet cutting-edge crime-solving in this thriller in the #1 New York Times bestselling series featuring NYPSD Lieutenant Eve Dallas.Seconds after partaking of wine during a Catholic funeral mass, Father Miguel Flores is dead on the altar. Detective Lieutenant Eve Dallas confirms that the consecrated wine contained enough potassium cyanide to kill a rhino. And though the East … rhino. And though the East Harlem neighborhood is a long way from the stone mansion she shares with her billionaire husband Roarke, it’s the holiness flying around St. Christobal’s that makes her uneasy.
The autopsy reveals faint scars of knife wounds, a removed tattoo—and evidence of plastic surgery suggesting “Father Flores” may not be the man his parishioners thought. Now, as Eve pieces together clues that suggest identity theft, gang connections, and a deeply personal act of revenge, she hopes to track down whoever committed this unholy act. Until a second murder—in front of an even larger crowd of worshippers—knocks the whole investigation sideways…

JD Robb never fails to deliver with her great storylines
Love this series, great characters
Can go wrong with a JD Robb book – ever
Always the best books
Love ;this series
I am a long time fan of Nora Roberts aka J.D. Robb. The DEAD series is a futuristic look at our world. Lt. Dallas and Rouke fought to survive harsh beginnings. Their choices in life determined who they are today. The antagonists also made choices that lead to who they became. Dallas is a tough cop who fights for justice for the dead. I wouldn’t bet against her and her team.
Just as good as her other J D Robb books. It is hard to put them down.
It has JD Robb or Nora Roberts & I’m reading it ASAP. Love her looks. Great characters! Great plots.
I just love reading any story about Eve and Roake!
Loved it. Cannot put down.
WILL READ ANYTHING BY NORA ROBERTS.
All in this series are incredible. Never a let-down.
I love J D Robb and this book does not disappoint.
I love the characters
I enjoy the “In Death” series written by Ruth Rendell writing as J.D. Robb. Set in the future, the main character is a tough cop with a tragic history who lives for her job, and the billionaire husband she loves. The sex scenes are steamier, and more graphic than I care for, but I like the relationship between the couple as he supports her in her work and works with her as a civilian consultant. She is compelled to find the killer in each case regardless of risk to herself as she wants justice for the victim every time regardless of who the victim is. Eve Dallas is the name of the character, so called because she was found lost and alone in Dallas when she was 8 with a broken arm her father had given her just before she stabbed him to death in self-defense. She still has terrible nightmares due to her father’s ongoing abuse and the frequent rapes she endured. However, the abuse she suffered made her want to make something of herself and caused her to become the incredible cop she has become: someone who always stands for the victims.
loved it cant wait for next one
This is part of a great series.
Robert’s “Dallas” books used to be great reading but as the series progresses the books seem to grow more boring and predictable. I must admit I am quite tired of Eve’s whining and self-pity and think after all this time and reluctant therapy she would be past the past, so to speak. I do not look forward to a new book coming out as I once did. I do wish I had a Roarke of my own though, he is the only person worth reading about anymore.
Eve Dallas must reevaluate her black and white sense of justice when the lines between good guy/bad guy blur.
Love Nora’s futuristic crime series!
