Ancient church rituals meet cutting-edge crime-solving in this thriller in the #1 New York Times bestselling series featuring NYPSD Lieutenant Eve Dallas.Seconds after partaking of wine during a Catholic funeral mass, Father Miguel Flores is dead on the altar. Detective Lieutenant Eve Dallas confirms that the consecrated wine contained enough potassium cyanide to kill a rhino. And though the East … rhino. And though the East Harlem neighborhood is a long way from the stone mansion she shares with her billionaire husband Roarke, it’s the holiness flying around St. Christobal’s that makes her uneasy.
The autopsy reveals faint scars of knife wounds, a removed tattoo—and evidence of plastic surgery suggesting “Father Flores” may not be the man his parishioners thought. Now, as Eve pieces together clues that suggest identity theft, gang connections, and a deeply personal act of revenge, she hopes to track down whoever committed this unholy act. Until a second murder—in front of an even larger crowd of worshippers—knocks the whole investigation sideways…

One of the best of the In Death series, so far. More layered and complex.
Love the entire series!
JD Robb never disappoints.
You can’t beat Nora Roberts when she writes a love story or a murder mystery and when she writes as J.D. Robb you have a combination of both
All of JD Robb’s books in this universe are interest and well plotted.
I love Eve Dallas.
Really enjoy the relationship between Eve and Peabody, Roarke, and Eve’s snarky one-liners.
Can’t wait for more from this author.
Boring. Barely got thru the first chapter then deleted it.
Good Nora Roberts
J D Robb is a favorite of mine. I look forward to her “death” series.
I always forget that the author also writes romance novels and can’t help but go overboard on the over-heated encounters of her characters…one can only put up with over the top sexual encounters for so long
I have read every book in this series, some more than once. This is a good addition to the series. Always love the characters.
Another outstanding J.D. Robb book…
The logic used by Detective Eve Dallas is almost surreal. Great character!
With Eve Duncan and Roark, J.D. Robb, aka Nora Roberts, delivers a tight, whimsical mystery that carries the reader to the final destination without a single speed bum. I have read every book in this series and am never disappointed.
I love them all!
JD Robb is one of my favorite writers. I love the in death series. The characters are all written well. You feel as if you know them personally. I love re-reading the series when a new book comes out
Have enjoyed all of the Eve Dallas books I’ve read so far.
The 22nd century wrap around was a surprise, suck in by the author, and just fun when I realized what was going on. Thoroughly enjoyed our wisecracking detectives!
