Sometimes you have a secret, and sometimes that secret has you.Returning to Europe means saying goodbye to her friends again, but Targa––a powerful teenage siren and water elemental––has someone she loves waiting for her on the banks of the Baltic. When those closest to her encourage her to let Antoni in on her secret identity, Targa is torn between the promise she made her mother when she was … she made her mother when she was just a child, and the desire to be honest. Will she keep her secret, or reveal her true self to the man she loves?
The last thing Targa and Mira want is to be separated, but Mira grows distant as the voice of the ocean becomes urgent, and its clear she is suffering. Will Targa and Mira’s close-knit mother/daughter bond be strong enough to keep the irresistible call of the mermaid’s salt-cycle at bay?
When someone who shouldn’t be alive turns up, Targa and Antoni are sucked into a breathless, whirlwind adventure leading them leagues under the ocean’s surface where even Targa’s great powers cannot save Antoni from an ancient force neither of them saw coming.
You will fall in love with these characters and wish the adventure would never end! Grab your copy and fall into a world of elemental magic, love, and mermaid lore like you’ve never experienced it before!

INTERVIEW WITH THE AUTHOR:
Q: What makes your writing special and different?
A: I write cuss-free, no on-page sex fantasy stories featuring strong female protagonists, and themes of love, friendship, the environment (because its something I care deeply about), while delivering a fast-paced adventure. I’ve been told my writing is very cinematic and that readers can watch it play out on the screen of their mind in full-colour as they read. My Elemental Origins Series is non-linear, meaning it doesn’t have to be read starting at book 1, you can pick up any of the first 5 books and dive in because they all take place simultaneously.
I believe its an authors job in today’s world to nurture empathy, help the reader live another life and feel what its like to be in someone else’s shoes. I try to write as believable a fantasy world as possible, with characters who value life and care for one another. My antagonists are often somewhat faceless for part of the story, providing mystery, and they are also not ‘just bad guys’, they’re people with their own world view one might understand, even if you don’t agree with it. Most of all, I just want to tell a great story and make readers feel something – I’m told I do a good job at that.
Q: Aside from Salt & Stone, what other books do you write, and what order should I read them in?
A: I also write the bestselling Elemental Origins Series that chronicles Targa and 4 other girls as they venture beyond the borders of their Canadian home and experience transformational supernatural summer adventures. I recommend reading Born of Water before reading Salt & Stone.
If you like Melissa Meyer, Tamora Pierce, Leia Stone, Jaymin Eve, Cassandra Clare, Lauren Kate, Stephenie Meyer, Becca Fitzpatrick, or Michelle Madow, you will LOVE AL Knorr’s storytelling!

I loved A.L.Knorr’s Elemental Origins series and went into literary withdrawal when it ended. No surprise then that I was overjoyed to find that the author has come out with a new series, The Siren’s Curse, that takes off from that series. Salt & Stone is the first book in that series. It’s great fun to follow its leads Targa and Antoni as the author puts them through their adventure in this well written story with its strong plot and story arc beginnings. For maximum enjoyment of this new series, the Elemental Origins series should be read first. It’s not an absolute need, however, though at minimum I think reading at least Born of Water (and really both that and The Elementals) is (are) really essential as a precursor. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises – the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.
Targa is a siren and a water elemental, she is very powerful and she has just inherited a company from someone who treated her as his next of kin. She and Mira her mother, leave Canada and travel to Poland to be close to the company, the manor they also inherited and the rest of the benefits which came with this inheritance, however Targa was looking forward to moving because Antoni, her boyfriend lived there. She loved him with all her heart but feared to let him know what she really was, so their relationship was built on one massive lie. But lies have a way of surfacing one way or another and hers came to light in the scariest of ways and on a massive adventure in which they both nearly lost their lives. When a triton had turned up at her house trying to steal a pendant everyone seemed to be after suddenly, Targa discovers more than she ever imagined. He turned her life on it’s head so to speak and life could never go back to what it was after certain things came to light. I love the suspense in this thrilling magical siren adventure and I love the fact that we got to meet Georgjie from the other series, the other elemental!
Salt and Stone is a very well written story. I think it is my new favorite in this series. It has a good amount of mystery and intrigue. Whenever I thought I had something figured out I was surprised with the real answer. I loved diving back into Targa and Mira’s world again. Their journey to discover secrets long forgotten was a bit emotional. I definitely shedded a few tears. The ending left me smiling but also super curious. I can’t wait to hear more of Mira’s tale.
A Fantastic read that had me inthralled right from the beginning. If you love fantasy and Mermaids and intrigue with that has lots if twists and turns this is definitely a audio you will love. The Narrator and the Author have done a fantastic job. I definitely recommend.

Love the stories….can’t wait for the final one.
Enthusiastic storytelling where water meets land and who knows after that. Mermaids and others trying to help each other. A old ship that sunk years ago and had the treasures stripped out of it. Who does it belong to?? Targa and her mother was in charge of something they really didn’t want. Good reading.
AWESOME! I love this series. Hope it never ends. This particular book has a kinda offshoot cliffhanger. Totally didn’t see it happening. Can’t wait for next book.
I was very happy to get back to my old friend, Targa. It’s been awhile and this book was just the thing to renew my acquaintance with her. Ms Knorr writes her so well, I could relate with her in many ways. So much is happening in this book. So many surprises kept me riveted to the pages. Targa feels as if she is out of her element with her inheritance but manages to puts first things first to get through it all. She struggles with telling Antoni about what she is and risk losing him or not telling him and risk losing him. I so enjoyed the underwater experience she had albeit mysterious and dangerous. It was somewhere between harrowing and breathless. I can honestly say that any reader who has read this author’s previous books of The Elementals, i.e., Born of Water, or Mira’s Return, would most likely enjoy reading this book just as much as I did. Highly recommended.
