I did not think it was possible to write a great Catholic Christian thriller in the vein of Tom Clancy without channeling Frank Peretti. If you do not like your urban fantasy police procedural noir, gritty and bloody, do not read these. If you are a fan of Remy Chandler, Karrin Murphy, Quincy Harker, Travis Dominick, or Nathanial Garrett, read these books.

A brilliant read. I loved all 3 books and I hope there is more to come. I love anything Paranormal. I love magic. These books had everything. 5*.
For the record, I received an Advanced Review Copy (ARC) of this book with the request that I leave a voluntary honest review for other potential readers. That having been said, here is my honest opinion and review of this book. I found this box set to be very entertaining. It has a unique plot line with plenty of surprises, twists and turns to cater to just about anyones tastes which is well written and easy to read while the pace flows along nicely. The world building is excellent with interesting details and the character development was great with well thought out personalities and clearly delineated motivations behind their actions. You get a very diverse mixture of secondary characters, both heroic and villinous, throughout the story. The perspective that everyone is redeemable so long as they wish to be is very refreshing. Some of the henchmen are obvious while others a rather surprising. I was able to deduce the head villian well before the reveal (I’m a huge mystery fan so that helps) but it did not keep me from enjoying the story. The rather constant political bashing was a bit distracting. Where as I do support freedom of religion (I am a Christian but not a Roman Catholic) and politics (moderate Democrat here), I do not support the right to disparage others repeatedly even if it is fiction. This is probably the only negative issue that I had with the three books. I found the intriguing mixture of politics and magic to be quite fascinating. Overall, I found the story well worth the time it takes to read it. I will almost certainly read the next installment of the series.
This is a great book set. Included is books 1-3 of the Saint Tommy, NYPD series. I found each book well written and each one kept me drawn in. I enjoyed going along with Thomas and found him a well written character. I recommend this book set.

Internal affairs and you can guess where those who are evil are hiding. This is an awesome set and will keep you on the edge of your seat!

Tommy Nolan is a detective with the NYPD. He is honest, hard working, decent minded and a Catholic. He follows his faith as best he can, and treats all people with respect, including the criminals he arrests. He is also a special human being. Tommy knows he has some special abilities, but he does not yet know all of them. Tommy makes an arrest of a common criminal, Anthony, whom he knows from past experience. But making an arrest means bringing Anthony into the Police Station, and it means lots of paperwork. But as Nolan goes through the station, he smells something horrible. On a bench, handcuffed to it, sits an emaciated prisoner, Simon Hayes. Hayes has slipped the cuffs off by dislocating his thumb and unexpectedly attacks Nolan.
Hayes attacks with uncanny strength, throwing off other officers who jump in to help Nolan. Amidst the battle between Hayes and police officers, the police station is torn apart, as are many officers. It takes prayers and the rosary and some very large officers to finally subdue Hayes and get him into a cell.
Thus, begins Nolan’s race to send a demon to hell before it kills everyone he loves. Although this is the first of the series by Declan Finn, it is not the first one I have read. I was pleased and impressed that the first book was as fun and interesting, and scary, as the others I have read. In other words, the first is as good as the last. A significant achievement. It is not usual to read a first book after reading later ones and having it as good as the later ones. But it points to the talent of Mr. Finn. His books are exciting, well written, the characters are well developed, and the reader is drawn into their circumstances with empathy, or horror, whatever emotion Mr. Finn is evoking. Looking for a good read; a thought provoking read; a fast paced, action filled read? Look no further. Its right here!
This box set comprises the first three books in the Saint Tommy series. Being an NYPD homicide detective and a living Saint makes for an interesting life. This is especially true when evil is out to get you and you must stay alive while solving murders. These books have it all. Great characters, evil villains, good cops, miracles, voodoo, vampires, zombies and of course a wonder-worker. I only have one complaint about these books and that is the fact that I lost sleep while reading these books. I read each of these books before now and still found new things to think about this time. The storylines are well thought out and each book flows into the next without cliffhangers. The stories mesh together to span the period of time that Tommy Nolan first discovers his abilities as a living saint to the efforts of various bad guys to take him out to the culmination of the investigations into several murders and many attempted murders of Tommy and his family. I loved this set of books and the characters and the stories being told. These books are so good, this author has become one of my favourites of all time.

An exceptional NYPD detective who deals with minions from the netherworld, killers, and daily life in a city on the edge of darkness.
Fairly certain Internal Affairs division is demonic in more ways than one.
Although for Tommy, every day has dark challenges.
An edgy detective story that challenges boundaries.
Powerful KU read! I received an advance copy from Booksprout. I read this collection on Kindle Unlimited
I wanted to like this book. It is a good thing to see characters of genuine faith in popular fiction, to counterbalance all the secularist garbage out there. I can deal with politics that differ from mine. And this author has a talent for describing action scenes.
But the tone was so bad, including a completely unnecessary cheap shot at the Jesuits, of all people, that I gave up. The religion here has little to do with the Jesus who told his followers to love their enemies. The religion here is a militaristic fantasy religion, not Christianity.
Interestingly, I think that, if this author rewrote the book as a fantasy novel, without connecting it to Christianity, I’d have found it entertaining.
