She can handle anything in her job.
Even a week on a boat
with a handsome but annoying sailor.
Josh tells himself he’s the luckiest guy in the world. Living on his sailboat and taking tourists on occasional chartered trips, he’s not tied down to routines and responsibilities. He even named his sailboat Solitude, because that’s what he enjoys much of the time.
Danae works at a boat company, and … of the time.
Danae works at a boat company, and she just got promoted—sort of. To keep her dream job, she must get her opinionated coworkers to all agree on a marketing plan. Her boss directs her to set up a week-long sailing tour with them as a work trip and a bonding experience.
At first, Danae isn’t completely on board with Josh’s laid-back approach to the excursion. But during visits to quaint New England towns and seafaring adventures, she and Josh start to see one another’s true colors…and Josh begins to question his solitary life.
This feel-good romance includes a free Hallmark original recipe for Crunchy Salmon Cakes.

I very much enjoyed author Cindi Madsen’s “Sailing at Sunset: A feel-good romance from Hallmark Publishing”–a sweet, summery love story where opposites attract, sparks fly, and seeing yourself through another’s eyes may be the best view yet! I loved the beautiful New England coastal tour filled with wonderful, quaint places I would love to visit and delicious food and wine that I would love to sample– the book includes an Original Hallmark Recipe for “Crunchy Salmon Cakes”. Danae Danvers has just landed the promotion of her dreams–Chief Marketing Officer at the Barton Boating Company. However, it’s an interim position–contingent upon her ability to improve her communications with her coworkers and become a true team player worthy of being the team leader. Much to the dismay of the super-organize, Danae, her boss sets up a “corporate retreat” week-long boat tour for Danae and her team to strengthen their working relationships. Josh Wheeler had willingly turned his back on the corporate world, preferring life on the open sea, sailing his own boat, “Solitude”, and occasionally taking work as a boat captain for private tours. After being bombarded with emails from Dane Danvers before the launch, he wasn’t really looking forward to meeting the apparently uptight perfectionist. Frustrated by the lack of response to her emails from Josh Wheeler, Danae’s anxiety levels had risen even higher regarding the successful outcome of the trip–it meant so much for the future for her and her family. When Josh and Danae meet and begin their journey, sparks–personal and professional–do fly–and each is a bit nonplussed by the other. A definite awareness turns toward an attraction, and as Josh begins to see beyond Danae’s need for control, she starts to fall for his easy-going charm. They both have issues to overcome, and seeing themselves through one another’s eyes may just give them a clearer view of the future. Josh may have more of a need for companionship and involvement than he realized. Danae begins to realize that when things don’t go as planned, they may just turn out better than expected. Can the two of them blend together their opposite outlooks and create a future together filled with more love and laughter than they ever imagined? “Sailing at Sunset” is a delightful contemporary tale–just perfect for Summer breezes, tall, frosty tropical drinks, and sweet dreams of romance at sea.

A Hallmark romance. I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Danae is organized and has a very scheduled life and is up for a promotion. She and her co workers are going sailing and will be working on their ad campaign at the same time. The only problem is that her ex will be on the boat. The captain turns out to be a catch, Josh is the opposite of Danae, free of obligations including a relationship he lives to sail. The book takes you on a trip to some great ports of call, Martha’s vineyard, Cape Cod to name a few, really enjoyed this aspect, learned a few things and felt like I was really there. But a few questions remain, can Danae get her team to work together so she can get her promotion? And will there be love on this boat? And will it be an old love rekindled or a new love full of compromises? Cindi is a new author for me and I loved the book.
Sailing at Sunset by Cindi Madsen was such a sweet and charming summer romance about opposites attracting. Josh is done living under other people’s schedule. He lives as he pleases with no schedule and an easy-going life. Danae could not be more opposite if she tried. She is organized to a fault and likes to be in control. When they are charged to go on a work trip so they can bond and agree to a new plan, clashes are to be expected. But as they get to know each other, can they come to a compromise as feelings begin to emerge? Sailing at Sunset by Cindi Madsen was a great book to get lost in on a summer day!

Happy reading!
Let your dreams set sail…
Life is better on a boat. This is Josh’s theory and mantra. He loves his “alone” time and it has served him well. He is content and at peace with the wind in his hair, and the sun on his face. He has carved out his future. Solitude is what he craves, so much so he named his boat Solitude. He is content in chartering his sailboat to tourists who want to experience new adventures. He felt he had his life all mapped out until Danae stepped into it. Then everything capsized for him.
Danae recently got the job of her dreams and was assigned by her boss to go on a boat excursion taking along her co-workers so they could team build. That was a nightmare in the making. Her workmates were civil at best and were cantankerous to boot. They all had their own opinions on everything and were not afraid to voice them. When Josh and Danae meet they clash immediately. He is a free spirit and spur of the moment kind of man and Danae is all schedules and planning. It was a delight to watch this couple butt heads but also to see them fall for each other.
This couple were on the same boat rowing in different directions. I was eagerly crossing my fingers and rooting for these two. Another wonderful sweet romance by Cindi Madsen.
Looking for a sweet read then look no further than Sailing at Sunset. I adore Danae and her organizational ways. Nothing says company bonding like going on a sailing trip together and Danae handled everything with ease by the end of the trip. I love the chemistry between Josh and Danae. Neither looking for love but you cannot deny the attraction they share. Josh is an amazing captain and knows his way around sailing vessels. He has this amazing way of getting Danae off track and showing her how to go with the flow some. I loved every moment of this one and really couldn’t put this one down. You really can’t go wrong with any Cindi Madsen books.
If you love anything Hallmark the way I do, this is the perfect story for you.
The story centers around Josh and Danae.
Josh owns a sailboat on which he lives as well as offers chartered trips. Living life as he pleases . Danae Danvers, is the “interim” Chief Marketing Officer at Barton Boats. While being brilliant, her people skills and team work needs work. In order to make it to a permanent position, she’s assigned a work team bonding trip. WHAT!?!?
Needless to say when these two meet and are forced to work together the ride is anything but smooth. But sparks also flare and the attraction begins to develop.
Will Danae and Josh be able to find the best of each other and realize they are meant to be? Or will fears keep them apart?
This clean sweet romance will leave you smiling .
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Hallmark Publishing. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Thank you to Hallmark Publishing and the Author, Cindi Madsen for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Even though the main protagonist grated on my nerves this entire book, I grew to love her by the end of it.
The other characters were loaded with quirkiness and personality that really made for a great story.
I loved hearing about the places they visited throughout the sail and it definitely makes me want to visit these places myself.
Oh and of course I can and would love to see this as a Hallmark movie someday soon!
Opposites in every single way. That’s Danae and Josh. Usually in opposites attract books, the characters only seem opposites on the surface but these two really are completely different. It made me doubt how this book was going to end.
It took me a little bit to get into this book but once I hit about 20%, I was sucked in and wanted to know how these people on opposite ends of the Type A / Type B spectrum we’re going to get along on a boat for an entire week.
This story was light on the angst and completely sweet. It was a great escape.
I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.”
This is a nice clean story about Danae and her coworkers and their team building weeklong sailing trip as part of a new campaign for Barton Boats. Danae not only builds a relationship with her coworkers, she also develops a budding relationship with the captain of their sailboat- Josh.
Danae is a control freak that just can’t seem to let go. Josh has given up the day to say drama and has decided that a life of solitude is all he needs. This is a true opposites attract romance. The author paints some wonderful pictures of sights around Newport, Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard.
This is a heartwarming, fun & moving
romance. I enjoyed reading it.
Danae, reached her goal. Now she
can check it off her list.
Her new position working for Barton Boats, has her & her team going on a
weeklong trip onboard a luxury sailboat, planning a new campaign for the company.
Josh, loves his sailboat & his life on the open sea. As a Captain, he takes
clients on adventures. With all the
emails he has received about changes from his newest client, Danae, at Barton Boats,
she is going to drive Josh crazy.
But out in the middle of the ocean,
perceptions can be different.
You will love reading about Danae,
Josh & her team enjoy the adventure
of a lifetime!!
This is such a sweet, slow burn romance, full of little magical moments with the sea as the perfect background.
It’s a lovely summer read, perfect for relaxing and getting lost in a beautiful, innocent story.
5 golden star stickers and an alpaca.
Sailing at Sunset by Cindi Madsen a five-star read that will set you up like the sunset. This is a perfect summer read, its light and romantic and just like a warm summers day, I will be honest when I found team building would be involved I nearly stopped reading as I absolutely hate that type of thing but I persevered and it warmed me, I am even planning on taking part in our virtual team BBQ next week now, something I never thought would happen, I planned an internet outage!! When you add a lovely captain well it just makes this a lovely story. You will e swept up in the story and feel the sea breeze on your face, be all at sea with Danae. I have enjoyed this author before and am sure I will enjoy her descriptive style again, don’t miss this great story.
Sailing at Sunset by Cindi Madsen is a great, light, summery romance. The premise: two single people that seem outwardly to be polar opposites find themselves in a situation where sparks fly and love and companionship develop.
Danae and Josh are great characters with interesting backstories and I enjoyed reading the unique situation that brought them together. Of course they are able to hurdle the oobstacles that are tossed their way, and find their own happy endings for each other and also together.
I always enjoy a seasonal romance, and this book does not disappoint. One can be transported to summer no matter what time of year it is read.
Thank you to NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing for this ARC and in return I am submitting my unbiased and voluntary review and opinion.
